Don't forget to look at the Lunar Blue under black light, a tip from Kimberly Crick.

Gorgeous color & granulation! If you're on a tighter budget, Van Gogh's Oxide Black is the same pigment and granulation (PBk11) as the black in this mix. It mixes well with any phthalo or Quinacridone to make gorgeous, dusky, granulating colors. Mixing with Phthalo blue gives a nice lunar blue dupe.

Great tip!! Thanks!

Those mixes are gorgeous. Thank you so much for mixing with Cobalt Violet. Lunar Blue looks amazing when mixed with another granulating color and I just love that darker purple it made!!! I can't say the dot card saved me money, I ended up buying so many that I liked from it lol. Considering they now have like 250 colors, I guess it's to be expected when you love watercolor :)

Lol yeah that dot card is naughty ;) But if one picks a tube or 5 every now and then... Yeah, nope, it's dangerous LOL

I really love the dusky look this blue gives to colors its mixed with. Something I do with all my colors that seem to dry harder than I like is add a few drops of vegetable glycerin with a toothpick. Approximately 4mm size in half pan. Over time you will know if you need more or less depending on individual colors. I noticed all the genuines from DS need this.

Does this help with the rewetability?

I Love Lunar Blue. I have been using for a year or so now. I love how when it granulates sometimes you get like an electric bright blue popping forward! Beautiful mixes! Thanks for sharing.

Yes!! Love that pop of bright blue too!

I love this series! Thanks so much for sharing beautiful color mixes with lunar blue. Have you had time to see if this color works well after drying in pan? Hope it does. I love the neutrals you got and would love to add this to my palette. Thanks again.

Thanks Susan! So far it's doing ok, but I will be careful about not putting too much paint, just in case it dries too much over time. It's a gorgeous color and I am so glad I bought the tube even after my disappointment with the pan :)

You’ve inspired me to pull out my ‘trick pigments’ from Daniel Smith, and put them through their paces. I need to see the spectrum of mixtures with my ‘normal’ pigments. You unearthed some very special mixes. I usually see the tricky ones (Lunars, Rose of Ultramarine, Serpentine) as a ‘star’ area in a painting. Just add water and watch them go! Thankyou!

Yay!! Hope you had fun playing!

Hi Irit - I love this series! Will you be doing Paint -N-Play with Lunar Earth and Lunar Violet? I feel like I saw Lunar Earth but now I can’t find it. Do you find Daniel Smith granulated more than other brands or does it just depend on the color? Are you still using the WN version of Cobalt Violet? I love this color when I watch YOU use it but I feel like it is a challenging color for beginners. I can always see my brush strokes...too little water in my mixture or just the nature of cobalts? Love from New Orleans. ❤️🧚🏻♀️

I think I did one for Lunar earth, just search KZbin for Lunar Earth and my video will pop if I did. I only have an old and rather dry Lunar violet or is it shadow violet? half pan and never really fell in love. When it comes to purples moonglow is my color. I switched to Rembrandt from W&N only because Rembrandt's is vegan. W&N have the best formulation for that color by far (schmincke and Lukas as well but their cobalt violet is bluish and not pinkish). Yes, violet cobalt is challenging sometimes because of the challenging nature of the pigment I guess. Pans are safer than tubes, if you don't mind non vegan paints then try a Winsor and newton pan, I really think you won't be disappointed

Hi Irit...thank you for the review! I just got the 10 piece set of Jean Haines? I have a few of those colors....would like to see your review and mixing of these. I would not have put these together...but they are gorgeous together!

Hey Lynn! I just ordered the colors I was missing from the Jean Haines set (I have more than half so didn't want to buy the entire set), will definitely do a video about it once I have them, probably early September :)

Haha what can I say, we all have different opinions, otherwise it would be very boring 😉 enjoy!

@@iritlandgraf it's all that granulation. It could be the most boring beige ever, but if it granulates, I must have it.
