Fun fact about the back story parts you mention around the 8 min mark: I saw a vid from (i think) a historian talking about why anime characters always give these bombastic announcements of who they are + what fighting moves they use during battle and apparently its because when samurai warriors back in the day would fight each other, they'd do similar intros that the other would actually listen to so that if they win, they could use their intense intro as bragging rights (i.e. "i defeated the ultimate dragon warrior of the western highlands blah blah") so I'm thinking that's where this storytelling aspect may come from. I'm fuzzy on the details but that was the gist! Also, love this hair on you girl 😁

Chen Kenichi is an absolute workhorse, sometimes he gets selected week after week and he looks exhausted 😆 I always figured that the Iron Chefs won most of the time because they are well accustomed to the 60 minute challenge, and regardless of the cuisine they tend to make everything to suit Japanese preferred tastes/textures.

I'm only 10 minutes in and your explanation of the show lore has me veryyy intrigued in sitting down and actually watching the OG Iron Chef (and I say this as a chef who gets stressed out watching most cooking shows loll). Also 11:57 , as someone who works in the industry, it's likely that Chef Morimoto would have been able to be in episodes (likely in blocks of recording) without too much difficulty because Nobu would have had at least sous chefs/chef de cuisines and maybe even demi chefs who could run the kitchen in his stead; bc basically a head chef in that capacity orchestrates the main menu but is not really present on the actual kitchen hot line lolll. But thank you for doing this video, it's such a treat of you sharing this bit of your childhood nostalgia with us that clearly brings you a lot of joy & comfort💕
