Sure CRAM cannons might not be the best option here.. but what If we use CRAM cannons anyway? They won't suspect that!

Hey Lathrix, creator of the original Iron Cordon here (pre missile conversion). I like the upgrade, the ship was designed to be a cannon based brawler so it is nice that it has some serious cannons again. Also bonus points for sticking to 1 weapon type. It's always nice to see you do these conversions so if you happen to get the opportunity to convert any of my other designs that would be great fun for me. I know not all of these are in the game anymore, but I also made the Trebuchet, Sea Viper, Prowler, Cockatrice, Kraken, Sin Eater, Devourer, Electrolysis, Tachyon, Hydrovolt, Bishop, Scarlet Scythe, Duskblade, Omega Nightmare V2, Treadstone, and Ravens Nest (when it still had a giant bird cannon at the top).

Wright’s breath caught in his throat. No Council warp drive could cover such a distance in such a short amount of time, and there was only one other logical arrival. “More Legion?” “Sir, IFF incoming! It’s one of ours! RCV Built to Last!” Wright decided not to look his new gift horse in its mouth, and stood to face the viewscreen. “Hail them, and organize a meeting onboard one of our ships. We’ve got an awful lot to discuss, and I doubt those demons are going to give us an awful lot of time to do it.” As his bridge crew got to the tasks they had been assigned, Wright looked at the viewscreen, which flickered on. Shown on it was Fleet Admiral Yegerov, the nearly 70-year old (middle age, for a society this advanced) man’s wrinkled features doing nothing to hide the intellect and defiance of the man that bore them. Yegerov had acquired himself a reputation for defying not only impossible odds on the battlefield, but also the politicians that were supposed to be in control of him. Nobody had ever found the balls to fire him, however, and so here he was. One of the many reasons nobody’d fired the man yet was the sheer power of his command. Sitting at just over four kilometers long, the Built to Last was an old girl - so old, in fact, that she had been originally designed without shields. They had been retrofitted on, of course. True to her name, however, she really was built to last. With twenty-four meters of admittedly older armour, she was damn difficult to damage.. although, of course, that’s assuming one even got a shot off. Her dual spinal railguns fired two-meter wide slugs at a velocity ten times that of any other Council vessel. Her slugs had shield generators attached to them, meaning they could in theory obliterate one ship and stay mostly intact, allowing them to fly into a second or even a third. She also had damn near two-hundred CIWS/LAMS mounts, carried two hundred fifty strike craft and dropships on her own, housed a battalion and a half of Marines along with an entire SEAL team, and that wasn’t even touching on the anti-ship railgun armament and sheer missile spam the Last could let loose if necessary. Wright looked at the Fleet Admiral on the screen for a few moments, then decided to speak first. “Pardon my French, sir, but as I’m sure you can see, the situation is currently fucked up beyond all recognition. We have all of two cruisers, one carrier, and one battlecruiser remaining, along with eighty-four smaller escorts. We are now outnumbered two-to-one.” The Fleet Admiral seemed surprised for only a moment, but knew that Wright’s reputation preceded him, and that he couldn’t exactly blame the lower ranking man. Wright went on. “The enemy vessels have capabilities far in excess of our own, and so far I have seen we need three vessels for every one of theirs - although the numbers are of course skewed when viewing our escorts against their larger ships or vice versa.” Yegerov took a second to ponder this, and then spoke in a light Slavic accent. “At least we know our weapons can hurt them. This doesn’t bode well, though. We only have a twenty-five percent advantage in terms of numbers, by the looks.. and with so few large vessels? Not sure if we’ll be winning this one.” Wright nodded. “I came to much the same conclusion, sir. I suggest we meet in person, so we can discuss tactics and strategy in a secure setting.” “Aye, Admiral. I expect you on my ship in thirty.. Launch bay twenty-three is prepared to accept you.” “Understood, sir. Lieutenant Ashcroft, get Lieutenant Commander Awtry on the line. I want a flight of Hawks and a Mantis ready, and get me an escort of SEALs. I don’t want to go unprepared.” Wright flicked off the viewscreen, and turned to the back of the bridge. He strode out, headed first to the armory to pick up a weapon for himself, then to the hangar to get into his Mantis dropship. As he walked into the armory, Wright looked at the wide array of weaponry arrayed before him. Assault rifles, battle rifles, SMGs, the full load. He settled on what he always did - a revolver. They were used this far into the future due to the ease of cycling a round into a rail-propelled barrel, which allowed a sidearm-sized weapon to compete with rifles in terms of range, power, and accuracy. In any case, he soon found himself - along with an escort of four Navy SEALs - inside a Mantis dropship. They flew the short distance between the two flagships, and slotted into one of the many launch bays on the port side. The four Hawk fighter escorts broke off, spinning around on the spot with RCS and reversing thrust, and the Mantis flew into the artificial gravity and atmosphere of the Built to Last. Wright and his power-armoured guards walked out of the hangar they landed in, and towards a meeting room of sorts. As they arrived, two of the guards took position outside the door. Wright walked in, with two SEALs by his side, to find Yegerov casually sipping tea at a table. “Ah, right on time Admiral. Good. Have a seat, and perhaps some tea?” “Thank you, Fleet Admiral.” Wright had a seat, and poured himself some tea. “I must say, I wasn’t expecting this to be so casual.” Yegerov gave a good, hearty laugh. “Yes, well.. I appreciate being able to wind down, even in this setting. Nor was I ever one for formalities, and my entire career is just one long broken regulation.” Wright chuckled slightly. “In any case, sir.. how’d you get here so fast? No council drive..” Yegerov knew what he was thinking, and cut him off. “Admiral, I’m not supposed to be anywhere within a hundred light-years of this place. The moment I heard of a Legion fleet invading another planet, I made best speed. The Council told you I was coming after I was already on my way - without their approval, of course.” Wright chuckled again. “Well, now that we’re through with the pleasantries.. how are we going to deal with these demons?” Yegerov nodded. “Ashley, give me a projection of every major celestial body and warship in system.” The holotable in the middle of the room flared up, and the avatar of an AI appeared atop it. “Aye, sir. Current fleet count sits at one supercarrier, three heavy carriers, twenty-one battlecruisers, eighty-two cruisers, and one hundred fifty seven escort ships. Notably, ten vessels are fitted with nuclear mines and stealth systems, and a third of the escorts have suffered moderate to severe damage. One carrier is down to 50% of its’ air wing, one battlecruiser has taken moderate damage, and two cruisers have 10% of their weapons disabled.” The holotable lit up, showing a cloud of blue warships - some visibly damaged - on one side of Neter. On the other side, a menacing ocean of red materialized, the angry red vessels baring their teeth in waiting. “Alright, Admiral. You’ve fought these demons before. What do we take into account tactics-wise?” “Sir, they seem to be overly aggressive. I only saw them retreat once, and that was after we blew up their original flagship. I’m not sure why this is, however - it may only be that one fleet. Their tactics are purely based on fury, and they put little to no focus on evasive maneuvers or shielding, to the point our shields are almost on par with theirs, despite the obvious technological disparity. Their weapons, however, will tear straight through a battlecruiser’s shielding, and their superlasers - each ship 1 klick or more in length has at least one - will more or less ignore armour.” “I see. And the effectiveness of our emergency thrusters?” “Good against their missiles, and can avoid damage from their superlasers if we can detect when they’re about to fire. Their railgun slugs are typically too fast to effectively dodge, however, much like our own.” Yegerov sipped his tea as he thought, his mind going a million miles an hour as he tried to come up with an answer to the predicament him and his men now found themselves in. Then, his mouth curved into a slight smirk and he rose - evidently, he had found one. “Understood. Walk with me, Admiral. I’ll show you the p-“ Ashley’s avatar again popped up on the holotable, which then shifted to show the Built to Last. Red markers appeared on several decks, moving fast towards the room the two commanders found themselves in. “Sorry to interrupt, sir, but we’ve just got an urgent message from hangar bay one. The enemy have managed to board us. Eighty-five contacts, all robots of some sort. Marines are reporting extreme durability and weapon power, albeit incredibly low velocity.” Wright unholstered his revolver, waiting for the AI to continue. Both of the SEALs inside the room unslung their assault rifles, activating the photo-reactive panels that covered their power armour. They moved outside, presumably to inform the other soldiers standing guard. Yegerov unholstered his own sidearm, looking to the AI. “Enemy’s progress thus far?” Ashley nodded, zoomed in the hologram, and responded. “The vast majority of their boarding party is being pushed towards the edge of the hangar, and will soon be dealt with. However, we have detected several very small warp drive signatures nearby.” She paused for a moment. “Also, I’m getting very faint and brief life signatures coming towards this room at high speeds.” Yegerov, staying calm despite the situation, simply nodded. “Warp drives? On dropships that small? No matter. Scramble all fleetwide fighters. Hell, get the gunships in there too.” “Infiltrators, perhaps? Special ops teams?” Wright spoke up, responding to her second statement. “Precisely, Vice Admiral. Prepare f-“ A burst of gunfire rang throughout the ship - it had come from right outside the door. A moment later, a very deep report of an alien weapon responded. They had arrived.

Name suggestion: _Ribauldequin_ Reason: Back when Epic 40k was a thing, Nurgle had two absolutely stupid Daemon Engines that were a siege tower and a trebuchet, both outdated medieval siege engines that are completely out of place 38,000-39,000 years later. Lath's refitted _Iron Cordon_ has a shitload of guns, kinda like another medieval weapon called an *organ gun* , also known as a *ribauldequin* . In addition, the "modernized" Onyx Watch fleet has a medieval aspect to it, both in ship names and in aesthetics. Look at the names of ships like the _Catapult_ and _Trebuchet_ , and of tanks like the _Onager_ and _Bombard_ .

The ship conversion looks good. The front looks like you could fit two small torpedoes in there maybe? Subs aren't going to show up any time soon, but it'll mean that should the enemy ship sink, then you can still hit it. Now for a suitably Nurgle-y name. I don't know much in the way of naming sense for Grandpappy Nurgle's beloved children, but I'm sure it'll be along the lines of "Death Walker" or "Great Bloated One".

It will be a really fun idea to use an EMP ship or aircraft to capture enemy's units and than turn them against theirs creators, like a hive-mind... it could be done for each factions so you will end up with specialized craft to capture the enemy and than convert them in specialized hunter of that faction.

While Lathrix effortlessly makes something overpowered while also being inside budget, Border does explain stuff a lot better and usually looks for solutions other than weapon spam. So I like them both, Borderwise was the one I watched while Lathrix took a hiatus from FtD and I've gotten a lot better at building stuff in the game thanks to him.

Could use a Smoke APS instead of the top or front cram to bypass LAMs. Just ad a tracer module and set it to a large green trail to keep with the theme.
