I remember seeing this guy take Dayton along for the race in Lake Havasu, which was my first full 140.6 tri. I was right next to him for most of the swim, and saw him a few times along the bike and run courses. Seeing him do that helped inspire and motivate me for the entire race from the very beginning, when the race organizers announced that he was breaking the world record towing along that boy while we were standing on the beach waiting for the start. Thank you James, you have a great story.

I cried... because as you say "I CAN" bike and "I CAN" do the Ride to Cure Diabetes ...and because my brother - ironically James Lawrence - passed away attempting his first triathlon at the age of 70 (Crabman Triathlon in Rhode Island - 2013) because "He COULD" train and prepare and attempt a triathlon. THANK YOU for sharing your story. It should inspire many - many who will take up on your "I CAN" attitude.

People think that professional athletes, mainly endurance athletes, talent is in being fast or strong. But honestly the most impressive part is their recovery abilities

I can't believe the heart this man has and the kind of shape you have to be in to accomplish this. I am SEVERELY IMPRESSED . As someone who has done roadwork and calistenics for ring training I understand how much you need to have in your heart when you start to hurt but simply continue to keep on, and keep on, and keep on. RESPECT to the man with the gigantic heart...

Thanks to this video i am more motivated, and now when i go running and want to quit. Then i think to myself that same thing, that many people with disabilitys can't run or walk! I will try to not think about quitting anymore, cuz some people would give everything, to do what i am thinking about quitting from!

I unfortunatly became disabled. If you can run, DO IT. If i could run, i wouldnt stop till i threw up... lol

I think this is only my 2nd post on Facebook in several years, as for me... there's a lot of stuff not worth reading or watching. If you want to see something really inspirational... this would be hard to beat!! Especially watch from 3:35 to 8:11 minutes into this 14:29 film. I'm posting this in memory of my cousin Jerry Dobbs who passed from this life on January 20, 2015 and lived with this condition for 79 years. In spite of his lot in life... he always had a smile on his face and a heart full of love and laughter!

+Umberto D'Ovidio You most definitely can. His knees are genetically exactly the same as yours ;-). Read "Born to Run" by Chris McDougall and change how you think about your body.

Look at his running technique @ 11:57 and not that he's not landing on his heels. That's what fucks your knees.

James Lawrence is just as inspirational as Bolt, Phelps, Messi, Jordan etc....what he did is simply INCREDIBLE and it's sad to see how many haters and keyboard warriors attacked a person who was trying to raise money for a good cause. Even if he wasn't doing it for a charity or for a fund raiser the fact he still attempted to do something so dangerous and just plane out IMPOSSIBLE we should be celebrating the man not trying to find any possible way to bash what he did. God Bless You JL!!!

Gratitude is a hell of a drug. Might get banned it's so performance enhancing. Us endurance folks, we choose to do this. We get to do this. I try to be grateful every day, even through injuries or tough tough runs.
