4:10 - regarding fluff, Autek Mor is an absolute unit in the fluff. Once he gets beaten back from Istvaan, he goes to Bodt (the new World Eater homeworld) and throws a moon at it. 😂 Mor is a monster. He and Ferrus hated each other so much but when Mor learned he was in danger with his brothers in the Hands, he took his ship and tried to break through the heaviest concentration of Traitor ships to get to him.

Recently just invested in vallejos colour shift paint for my own IH, getting that oily patina really sells the aesthetic of the army for me. I'm hoping to use the AoD cataphractii as Morlock terminators from the last exemplary battles sheet, though I don't think any elite unit gets so little love as they get in the BL series.

I chose the IH for 30K and even painted the remaining 40K models in that scheme. Reasons: 1. Easy paint scheme. I chose a metallic scheme with blue and purple washes to create an oil effect although it did not work out to the degree I had hoped for. For 40K I chose the standard approach of black, grey drybrushing and toning it down with black wash. To make the units pop on the battlefield the eye lenses needed to have a glaring light effect as the armour comes across as rather dull. Works perfectly! 2. Playstyle involves tough units which can take a beating and return the favour. This is preferrable to glass cannon armies which crumble when put in unfavourable scenarios. 3. Cog wheel aesthetic. I scrounged up a few old watches and retrieved the cog wheels from them. A few of them have been already glued to two Rhinos and a Land Raider. Good stuff! 4. Niche Legion and Maturity. Everyone and his dog plays Blood Angels, Space Wolves, etc. The IH suffered a devastating loss and is thus only suitable for adults. The fan bases of other Legions are often filled with insecure, young people who would set their armies on fire, if anything bad would happen to them. Thus those Legions who are not regularly praised quickly become so called losers in the community (see Shattered Legions). That´s why for example SW get away with obnoxious behaviour in the novels constantly as GW fears repercussions from their customers should they face any true adversity.
