Iron Infusion, My experience!

Chronic Anemia is no joke!
Since I can remember I was always told I had low iron; but iron supplements from time to time would help to correct it......

Now that I am in my late forty’s iron supplement are not working fast enough so I decided to see a Hematologist to see what other options I have instead of blood transfusion which is Iron Infusion (Injectafer). Injectafer does have patient assistance program because it can be expensive.

Thank you for sharing. My hemoglobin is 6.7 and my ferritin is 3. I need these transfusions and cannot wait to get them. Tired of being tired and the ice obsession is real.

I scooted into the e.r. with a hemoglobin of 3.6. Safe to say they looked at me like a alien. I have a appointment for 5 iron infusions. Let us pray. Im having anxiety and heart palpitations. Hope everyone who is dealing with this situation gets the help that they need!!!

I had iron infusions last year. I had 4 infusions over a 8 week period. There were no side effects for me and I felt fine after. The Hematologist said it should raise my hemoglobin gradually. I started at 8.25. Ended up 9.75. The “normal” levels start at 11.25. I never got there🤕 now I’ve been taking iron tablets and just had blood work done in Sept. Yep……back to 8.25!! The hardest part of the infusion is inserting the IV in your arm. No pain. And it takes about an hour.

Oh wow! It’s very frustrating to keep going back and forth with that iron. I am praying that mines is above 8 but I can tell that is low because I be supper tired……

Hello! Are you now feeling better? I'm not a doctor but suffered chronic anemia. Make sure to include heme iron in your daily diet (red meat, fish, eggs, liver...) along with vitamin C for a better absorption. If you have heavy periods, you may try a medicine that reduces the flow, along with iron supplements. Limit intense physical activity during periods and pregnancies. Take care!

I just finished 5 weeks of infusions. I haven't felt the positive instant effects they said may happen. Now I have to wait for a month to get my levels checked again

You should feel a difference in a few weeks. I assume your hemoglobin was below 7?

I just got my first dose of injectifer 750mg. Today, I have to go in once a week. I felt ok until a few hrs later and I'm having body aches and feeling like crap so I hope this ends soon.

Hi thank you for such an informative video! I’m getting my iron infusion next week, however I’m afraid of any complications, hopefully it is safe and works for me. My iron is at 1 and my hemoglobin is slightly below the normal range. I guess I’m only iron deficient. Thanks for the video! ❤️

@@NurseTisa Hi thanks for your reply! It's been about 3 weeks now since I got the iron infusion and I've been feeling a lot better regarding my dizziness, headaches, and fatigue. However, on the 3rd day after getting the iron infusion, I had a fever and chills, and a mild cough, but it lasted for a day and subsided with some Tylenol! I totally noticed a difference after the side effects! :)

I am severely anemic and have to get iron infusions. I’m 34 and I am tired all the time and I love the ice but I also don’t want to ruin my teeth as well. How long did it take for your infusion to run?

Hello Lisa, it took about 45 mins to infuse. I received two does and it take about 3-4 weeks before you feel a differences.

@@NurseTisa I did my first infusion May 3. I was super nervous. It was nothing to be nervous about. I went to Emory Hospital in Atlanta. I was there all together about an hour. It took 20-25 minutes and your waiting period of 30 minutes. I don't feel any difference as of yet but it didn't sting or burn. It was really easy. I'm hoping I feel better on the second time which is May 10 2021. I'll let you know how it goes🥰🥰🥰

@@NurseTisa I didn't get one. My iron levels improved by me taking oral elemental iron supplements, thank God. But, I'm glad it didn't stain your skin and hope you're still doing better.
