'The Clairvoyant' is a song from Iron Maiden's album ''Seventh Son Of A Sevent Son'',released in 1988.
'''The Clairvoyant' relates the reflections of the Seventh Son of a Seventh Son on his life and his powers. He is now a fully-fledged seer and has learned to control his visions. However, these become rapidly overwhelming and he eventually confuses what he really sees with what he sees with his mind's eye. Death is now for him the only way out, although, once again, the cause of death is not explicitly indicated. Did his powers kill him or did he commit suicide? Like in 'Infinite Dreams', there is another reference to reincarnation at the end of the song, just after the second verse where a story-teller recalls who the Seventh Son was before he passed away.
This was the second single from the album, and has become a concert favourite, beginning with another of Harris's patented bass intros. The only complaint that can be made is that the guitar solos are too short, but otherwise it is a great song. ''
'Seventh Son of a Seventh Son' is a concept album by heavy metal band Iron Maiden, released in 1988 as the band's seventh studio album on EMI in Europe and its sister label Capitol Records in the US (it was re-released by Sanctuary/Columbia Records in the US in 2002).
Seventh Son of a Seventh Son was the last Iron Maiden album to feature guitarist Adrian Smith until the album Brave New World in 2000 (he did write a song that Bruce Dickinson finished for the next album, No Prayer for the Dying, titled "Hooks in You", a loose tie-in to the Charlotte the Harlot saga).

I believe Bruce's intention was to quit the band entirely before this tour was to happen is that not correct? He didn't want to announce that he was leaving and THEN have to go on the road. This situation was messed up. Steve is like 'I wanted to kill him' - well yeah Steve you were killing your own band ya thick bastard.

bruce has no interest at all. singing with no intensity, standing on the drum riser, walking off stage. the whole concert and last leg of the tour was like this.

He said it had a funeral like atmosphere because everybody knew he was leaving the group. I took away the whole vibe of playing the shows. Honestly, I don't think Bruce and Adrian would've left the band at all if Steve and Iron Maiden had just chilled out and got some perspective, took breaks when they needed to. Got recharged and creatively inspired instead of slaving away and killing their passion.

@@j_freed I guess you know he was close to quitting after the World Slavery tour when the maiden merry men Rod and Steve wanted no break at all. Bruce was like, sod you if it's like that. I'm writing a book and fencing a lot more. He came into the SIT album very last minute to record and that was that. I saw them at Birmingham NEC in '93. He was really done by then. He didn't even introduce the band at any point which was unheard of!
