Bruce is incredibly fit, and it shows. He was invited to try out for the British Olympic fencing team but turned it down for lack of time, but still keeps his fitness up as needed to regain his Airline Transport Pilot's Medical certificate and licence following his cancer treatment, in order to captain the 747-400 he leased for the "Book of Souls" world tour. He also has an aerobatic and display endorsement for his Spitfire and replica Fokker triplane. His jumps and balance on stage are legendary - he has even been seen jumping from the upper staging at the back OVER the drumkit and landing with a single roll and slide. From a standing start. But gestures need to be exaggerated to be visible once audiences are regularly into 6 figures. Live is always best if available. Iron Maiden was founded by Bassist Steve Harris 46 years ago, and still going strong. Average 64 years and Nicko (on drums) is 69. You have a lot of catching up to do!

@@brianpeterson5783 Well, there was the book launch of his autobiography "what does this button do", when he did a Q&A, of which my favourite was "Did you visit a vocal coach after your throat cancer treatment and if so, how much did you teach them?" (he is in fact, completely self-taught in both vocals and more recently piano - as a result of him winning a Grand Piano in some form of charity lottery and deciding he might as well learn to play it - the result was "Empire Of The Clouds", which he wrote in the process of learning to play and in which he perfoms the piano introduction. Oh, and just btw - the level of fitness required to do aerobatics to a display standard in something with the turning capability of a spitfire is extreme. I used to fly and did some aeros in a much more gentle aircraft (only capable of +6/-3g) and 10 minutes at a time is hard work - and I was regularly cycling centuries at the time.

Bruce is one of the greatest frontmen in metal. Obviously, he has a great voice even to this day (he's 63 years old). But what really makes him so great is that doesn't just sing, he paints a picture. You feel his emotions. He connects with an audience better than most. I have been to many Maiden shows. It's not just a concert but an experience. They have never disappointed and I have also left their shows a few pounds lighter because you are moving so much to their music. FYI on Iron Maiden... the current band (as seen in the video) is: Bruce Dickinson (vocals), Steve Harris (bass), Dave Murray, Adrian Smith & Janick Gers (guitars) and Nicko McBrain (drums)... This was from 2002 from the 'Dance of death' album. The band was formed in London, England in 1975 by bassist/songwriter Steve Harris w/ local musicians... guitarist Dave Murray first joined in 1976, but was firmly in the band by 1977... drummer Doug Sampson & vocalist Paul Di'Anno joined the same year. They recorded their first demo soon after, but a 2nd guitarist proved elusive... In 1979, Iron Maiden's demo's made the first indie release 'The Soundhouse tapes' as the band was signed to EMI Records. 2nd guitarist Dennis Stratton joined for the first Iron Maiden album in 1980 w/ drummer Clive Burr. The band's manager decided to put a 'character' created by artist Derek Riggs named "Eddie the Head" on Iron Maiden's album covers - a skeletal ghoul w/ hollow eyes, who has been on the cover of every Maiden record or single. Early Maiden had progressive elements musically, and had punk rock-style vocals by Paul Di'Anno... Iron Maiden did their first major tour of Europe in 1980, opening for Kiss. Dennis Stratton was fired and guitarist Adrian Smith joined for the 2nd album 'Killers' in 1981. Unfortunately, Maiden's frantic touring pace burned out Paul Di'Anno, who parted ways w/ Iron Maiden late in '81. In 1982, Iron Maiden introduced a new operatic-style singer Bruce Dickinson and the 3rd album 'The number of the beast' went to #1 in the UK charts and sold platinum in the USA. Nicko McBrain (drums) replaced Clive Burr in 1983 for the 'Piece of mind' album... Steve Harris, Bruce Dickinson & Adrian Smith were now the major songwriters in Maiden. By 1984, Maiden's 'Powerslave' album was a huge worldwide success and the band was headlining and selling out arenas all over the world. A live album 'Live after death' captured their sound in concert in 1985. Two more massive records - 'Somewhere in time' (1986) and 'Seventh son of a seventh son' (1988) capped the 80's decade... but creative frustrations led to guitarist Adrian Smith quitting Maiden in 1989. Guitarist Janick Gers joined the band in 1990 after playing on Bruce Dickinson's first solo album 'Tattooed millionaire'... 2 more records, 'No prayer for the dying' (1990) and 'Fear of the dark' (1992) were released before Bruce Dickinson announced in 1993 that he was leaving Iron Maiden after the tour for a solo career... Iron Maiden picked vocalist Blaze Bayley and returned in 1995 w/ the album 'The X Factor'... however, the band's popularity was severely diminished in the 90's decade of grunge rock... Bayley's gruff vocals took their music in a darker direction and didn't appeal to their fans. Maiden tried again w/ Bayley on vocals on the 'Virtual XI' album in 1998, but that became their worst-selling record. After several solo records failed to sell in the 90's, vocalist Bruce Dickinson was offered in 1999 to rejoin Iron Maiden, ousting Blaze Bayley... guitarist Adrian Smith also signed on to reunite w/ the band, making Iron Maiden a 3-guitar band. The reunion album 'Brave new world' in 2000 introduced more progressive songs into Maiden's catalog of music... giving them a much-needed hit record. The next album 'Dance of Death' in 2002 did even better... In 2006, the next record 'A matter of life and death' made the US top 10 charts for the first time in their history - Maiden played the entire record live on that tour. In 2010, the album 'The Final Frontier' was another major success worldwide. Maiden also revisited past records on tours that kept them on the road for years. While making the 2015 double-album 'The book of souls', Bruce Dickinson got a cancer diagnosis and had to be treated while recording... Maiden did not return to touring until 2016 after Dickinson's health was cleared... Iron Maiden's latest album 'Senjutsu' in 2021 hit #2 on the UK charts... #3 on the US charts, as the band celebrates 40 years w/ a tour dubbed 'The legacy of the beast'.

I can still remember the moment I heard Bruce sing. I was sitting in my car in the high school parking lot with the new cassette tape. First song I heard was "Number of the Beast." Made every hair on my body stand up and I almost peed my pants. I had been worried, as I had been following Maiden for several years and had seen them live with Paul Diano on vocal. I had been listening to the first two albums and was in love with the "Killers" album. I had no idea what I was in for with their new singer, Bruce. What I was in for was a multiple decades long love affair with an incredible band and singer. Anastasia....since you really like Lovebites, listening to Iron Maiden will show where the girls roots and biggest influence is. You will immediately pick up the double harmony leads that have always been a trademark of Iron Maiden....which Midori and Mikayo pull off with expertise. Iron maiden is never given enough credit. The idea of modern, epic, progressive, symphonic metal was pioneered under their banner. Decades ahead of the curve.

In the days of no televisions or movie screens Iron Maiden would be considered among the greatest storytellers in history…even with technology they are still the best.

I have been listening to Maiden for over 35 - 40 years ! The Guys are " cracking on a bit now " , still giving 100% . It will be a very sad day when I can no longer see them ..

I've been an Iron Maiden fan since 82 when I was 12 years old, their music has touched my life in so many ways and they are the greatest metal band of all time, I always wanted to see them live and finally did several years ago where I live here in Washington, I saw them at the Tacoma dome and it was a dream come true, I couldn't believe I was there with 35,000 screaming fans and we sang every song with them, they are absolutely phenomenal live and way better than studio, they literally blew the roof off and I couldn't barely hear for several days and definitely lost my voice from screaming at the top of my lungs. They are masters of their craft undoubtedly and without question.

Not sure what impressed me most, Maiden and Bruce Dickinson still rockin' after all this years, or that a metalhead never heard them. Listening to music without bumping into them is like eating bread and never experienced strawberry jam, or living while never experienced breathing. You are sooooo lucky, have fun diving down into their rabbithole, you will get a crush bigger than any you have ever experienced before :)

Iron Maiden is my second favourite band ever. I remember hearing their song the ttooper dor the first time and I was an instant fan. I was in high school then and Brave new world had just been released. I've been a fan ever since and listen to Iron Maiden basically every week.
