This week on Ice Pilots, Buffalo pilot Mikey goes for a wild ride in a fighter jet as a once in a lifetime opportunity. The long travelling water bomber mission is starting to get hairy, putting a lot of pressure on all of the crew. A member of the rock band Iron Maiden has joined the crew for a lesson on flight.

🤘😎 My biggest influence of the 80s..Bruce & Ice Pilots. I heard recently because of age/health he had to retire flying his own private plane, Ed Force One...Been flying the DC-8 & 10 and many others in flight simulators!

Hi Mikey...thanks for this video. Maybe the best one yet but they have all been great really. My USAF Dad flew C-47, C-46, C-54, B-25, B-29, KC-97, C-119, H-13, L-19, plus KC-135Q, B-52 (combat)...then T-39. And never mentioned it... Much respect for losing weight...it is one of the few things we have some control over. Swimming is best and takes less time/impact too. May take 3 or 4 times per week, and eventually the weight will fall off of you. And your heart will say: Right on...!

How many miles per hour is 2,000 kilometers? I wish you people would use Miles Per hour so we know what you are talking about

2x6=12, (2000 kms x 0.6 or 600 miles per 1,000 kms) =1200 statute miles. One half of 2000 is one thousand Nautical Miles. So 1,000 km = 600 statute miles and 500 Nautical miles so just multiply kilometers by 0.6. or 6x1 of whatever amount of kms you have and let the zeros take care of themselves as you should already have a mental approximation. Statute miles to kilometers is x 1.609. Statute miles to Nautical miles is x 0.8. Not mega precise but rough enough. Conversion rates are fascinating and quite fun to get comfortable with. Horsepower, kiloWatts, kVA, Amps, Amps per Phase, Voltage and Torque in Electric Motors and Gensets are unerringly precise in a rule of thumb way. Caterpillar put out a most excellent publication on conversion tables. Conversion tables (Dead reckoning), are a very good way to appreciate the universal nature of energy, power triangles and Pythagorean mathematics in all types of machinery and mediums of Force, Energy and Power. I have overlooked some Americanisations but they're all in the mix.

USA was going Metric, they spent two years studying the change, and it was all approved. States had already started changing the Speed Limit signs, and gas pumps were switched to litres. Then there was a change in the White House, and the entire program was tossed in the garbage, supposedly due to cost, even though many states were picking up the cost and had already started the change over. Since then, the world continued to move forward. Three countries stayed with imperial measures, the USA and two third world countries. The rest of the world is Metric.
