Hell yeah theyre still a thing. Their latest album is one of the best theyve ever put out. Currently in the middle of a world tour. 50th anniversary tour starts next year

It’s great to see The Wicker Man get some love, it’s not a “go to” for reactors, but this was the first single from 2000’s Brave New World, which saw the return to the band of singer Bruce Dickinson and guitarist Adrian Smith (who plays the solo in this). The lineup since this hasn’t changed to this day, making it the longest they have gone without a lineup change by a distance. Can’t believe this song (and the album) turn 25 next year! The band turns 50 next year… founding member (and bassist and chief songwriter) Steve Harris received the official copyright on 25th December 1975. What a Xmas present, for him and for the world. As for the song/album that they “blew up” with… it’s not just one album! It’s a run of albums. Their debut album (1980’s Iron Maiden) was well received and charted in the top 10 in the UK, the follow-up (81’s Killers) was less well received but is still a favourite among the fanbase, but it’s the run of albums from 82’s The Number Of The Beast through to 88’s Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son where they went boom, boom, boom, boom, boom! TNOTB went to the top of the UK charts, as did Seventh Son, the 3 albums in between (Piece Of Mind, Powerslave and Somewhere In Time) all hit the top 10, and they had a good run in the singles charts too with every song charting in the top 20. But, it’s their live shows where they make the biggest name for themselves. Don’t take my word for it, Brian May of Queen said this of the first Rock In Rio festival in 1985 - “we had to play the best show of our careers, or they would’ve upstaged us”. Consider the year that Queen had in 1985, to say that about another band is a huge compliment.

Picking a favourite Iron Maiden song is like choosing a favourite child, just not possible! The songs they are probably best known for though are The Trooper, Run For The Hills, Aces High, Wasted Years, etc. Their live performances are legendary, but don’t forget the official music videos too. Some of them (such as Aces High) add a lot more context to the song. Enjoy!

Iron Maiden's first album came out in 1980. "Wicker Man" is the opening song on 2000's "Brave New World". Singer Bruce Dickinson left in 1991 and "Brave New World" was the first studio album after his return.

Up the Irons

Man, they are on another level no BS, and strangely you don’t know or hear their songs 😂, but lucky you 😛 Iron Maiden essentially is very melodic, beautiful, emotional and sentimental, powerful, daring, vigorous, wisely heavy, dramatic, epic, and dynamic all together mostly +\-, and that’s very special to have it all, they are very WELL-BALANCED, they aren’t just one dimensional band, or just heavy and angry and that’s it!!! Their essence and nature is in BALANCE!

Definitely “still a thing.” Seeing them again next month, and they are better than ever. UP THE IRONS!

Can't compare Iron Maiden to other covers for other metal band UP the Irons brothers and sisters
@talismanmia2537Ай бұрын
An ok Maiden song but there are at least 60-70 that are better. Started in the 80s and ascended quickly in the 80s but far bigger today than back then, globally. And quite a bit of their catalog since 2000 is as good or better than 80s material, as damn good as that was.

First time listening to Iron Maiden? whaaaaaat?!!!! This is a great song BUT I don't think it's a good introduction to the band. This is more like a simple radio friendly song which doesn't represent the overall epic sound and lyricism of Iron Maiden. If you want the true sound while at the same time hit songs then listen to: FEAR OF THE DARK NUMBER OF THE BEAST HALLOWED BE THY NAME those would have been better choices. Like I said, still a good song!

if this was really your first Iron Maiden song (a long haired dude... WHAT?), weird choice. Not a classic, not even one of the 5 best songs of it's own album.
