I agree and their style of music but there are other bands that are Legends at their own right like Mercyful Fate and King Diamond old AC DC with Bon Scott and Judas Priest are metal Legends but I do love Iron Maiden I love their older stuff better than your newer stuff but I still love Iron Maiden

not really all his solos sound the same....Adrian smith is a way better lead guitarist at least he takes time to compose his solos.Dave just does improvised hammer on pull offs in the blues pentatonic scale in the key in which the song happens to be in.Not intricate cool licks, scale runs or arpeggios.Adrian at least combines Ionian Dorian Phrygian Lydian Mixolydian Aeolian and locrain scales (modes) in his solos and has some cool phrasing and licks.Rime of the Ancient Mariner I think Dave actually bothered to sit down and compose his solo.

Scott Brouse that's bullshit , Dave is an excellent guitarist, the problem with maiden is production and mixing , the solos are not clean enough or not amplified properly, priest dont have this problem

lord geoffrey listen to the solo in Wasted Years and give me an example of Dave Murrays solo that is better.Its not production and mixing its Dave is not as talented in doing solos as Adrian Smith.He has his moments but he is very limited when it comes to phrasing licks and imagination when he solos.Its very basic blues pentatonic stuff with a lot of hammer on and pull offs in every solo he does.I have played for 25 years and went to Music school studying guitar so trust me Lord Geoffrey its not production and mixing.

Scott Brouse I agree with you in many parts such the fact that Adrian is a much better Guitarrist(Especially after Somewhere in Time) than Dave.But I think We need more "Dave Murrays",,,Today's guitarrists focus too much in arpeggios,complicated almost three hand tapping( lol)..Thousands of scales and stuff that's it's hard sometimes even to hear them..It's like a race..one trying to outdo the other and do more and more complicated stuff.Sometimes the simple way it's the better way.You don't need to overcomplicate your solos for them to be "cool' or "beatiful"

Iron Maiden blew away all my history teachers combined growing up. As a young boy I saw them at the Philadelphia Spectrum open with this song, and they played with Coney Hatch and Fastway. June 18 1983. Aahhhh to be alive in the Golden Age of Metal. :D ( Todays sceneis fucking badass as well)

Bruce Dickinson is one hell of a singer. Ive watched some videos of their earlier concerts (like in the 80s) and it seems almost as is Bruces voice has gotten better live over the years. Its usually the other way around with vocalists, their voices deteriorate with age. Bruce is a true rock god, and one of the best vocalists in the world.

Hard to believe it was 27 years ago I first heard this in my mom's car. Bought the Piece of mind tape after hearing Number of the Beast at my friends house all stoned. Put it in the tape deck on the way home and my mom said "What in the world is that!" while I sat there in awe of the power. Wore that tape out I did. Pre-CD days boys and girls.
