Makes more sense that it's a concept for Web of Shadows, seeing as that game already has Iron Man referenced, Iron Man billboards all around the city, as well as Stark Tower as a plot point in the game. That game also has other Marvel characters like Wolverine, Luke Cage, and Moon Knight in the game, unlike Spider-Man 3. I also remember hearing one of the Web of Shadows devs saying they wanted to use Iron Man, but weren't allowed because the movie came out that year.

So was it just the year which was problem? Because Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 had Iron Man and that was year after first Iron Man movie and year before second Iron Man movie. Also X-Men Origins Wolverine came 2009 and he was in UA2 as well so why that didn't stop it. I believe issue was more like difficulty to include Iron Man into story.

Well, this sort of thing was pretty normal for Marvel movie tie-in games, you would often see characters that had nothing to do with the movie whether it be villains or allies, Shocker and Vulture among other villains were in the first Spider-Man movie game, Black Cat was in the Spider-Man 2 game, there was a sentinel level in the X-Men Origins Wolverine game and Sentinels were nowhere near the movie, and even to give an example of a Marvel character from a different series showing up in someone else’s movie game, Blade was in the Ghost Rider game tied to the 2007 movie and even got as far as becoming another playable character if you beat the game. So Iron Man in the Spider-Man 3 game still would’ve made a lot of sense at the time.

Fun fact:the was a scrapped line from Marvel Studios' Iron Man where its said that Stark Industries funded Doc Ock's arms that along with the deleted version of Nick Fury's scene mean that Marvel Studios and Kevin Fiege wanted the Raimi movies and the fox X-men films to be apart of the Mcu

@@srstriker6420 yeah in the films the original arms for Doc Ock were supposed to be co-designed and made by Tony Stark but it was scraped for legal reasons. Toby's Spider-Man was also originally going to be referenced in the end credits scene of Iron Man in 2008 but for legal reasons again, it was cut.

i think that the design fits more into the raimiverse rather than the aesthetic of web of shadows, the ‘stark’ lettering on the chest seems like more of a more grounded take than the comic bookness of WoS.

I think he was meant to appear in web of shadows because the debug build mentioned I'm most likely sure is referring to the one that was an early build of web of shadows using spider-Man 3 as a base that came out a few months after spider-man 3 the game was released and I was able to find a playable version of that debug build that has that ironman concept art in the art test

I don't like that iron man armour at all, but I would've loved to have seen it make an appearance in the raimi trilogy. I find these obscure and kind out-there designs really fascinating and I think it would be really interesting to see how an older piece of media would've portrayed iron man before the mcu, iron man never really had any older live action incarceration, so this would've been an interesting thing to see, especially if it was just in a few deleted scenes or something instead of a video game

Spider-Man: Web of Shadows started its video game development using Spider-Man 3 as its early prototype, as such, there are left overs of Web of Shadows in Spider-Man 3. Iron Man was considered for Web of Shadows - not Spider-Man 3.

It makes sense that this was for Spider-Man 3 because in web of shadows you can see a build board that has Ironman on it and it looks nothing like this one (unless if they changed the design, since this is just a concept art). Also, to answer your question as to why Sony couldn’t use Ironman but Marvel could use Oscorp and the Daily Bugle, it’s because Sony only owns the rights to Spider-Man in the films, nothing else. Marvel/Disney owns all Marvel properties (including Spider-Man) in all medias (games, tv, etc.) except for films.

Very interesting! As a kid I might’ve had a simple reaction of “Oh cool, that’s Iron Man” as I didn’t watch any MCU films until Iron man 2 in 2010. I played through Spider-Man 3 from the age of 5-8 before I finished it on my own from late 2007 to sometime in 2009 I think. I think my copy broke a few years later and I was more focused on Web of Shadows and Shattered Dimensions plus After years of hearing nothing but negativity I purchased the game again in 2017 to relive my old fun and had a great time. Thinking it might’ve been nostalgia both in 2017 and late last year I replayed it once again last month and had another great time. I seriously have no idea where the distaste stems from, Considering Spider-Man 3 is apparently everyone’s favorite or second favorite of the trilogy now I have no idea how more people like you and me don’t come out and defend this game! Stop me if it’s too far but I always thought this game was an even better version of Spider-Man 2 like it should be. The stories within are fun mini comics like the Lizzard-Connors story, the Arsenic Candy girls are gems, the Scorpion story is really good, and the other gangs are good too! Kingpin was a surprise to see in retrospect and I really enjoy the movie missions. Usually the movie part of tie in games is my least favorite part. The gameplay is fun, especially the combat is really intriguing I always preferred combos that stem rather than one-three button moves like the Arkham and Modern Spider-Man games! Going from the simple punches to switching it up any time to begin another string is super satisfying and always was more fun, from the PS1 games up to Shattered Dimensions they had these types even if it was more simple by the end. Many people think the Black suit is pure cosmetic but many don’t read those combos and how brutal the black suit can be. Has anyone ever seen the Rage Web attack? RB+B while in rage snags one or more enemies and slams them back and forth into the ground up to four times! I hope Spider-Man 2 has more to the Combo and Special attack system like this. The music is utterly fantastic, especially “City #4” and while a lot of the voice acting isn’t the best, this time it sounded like Tobey was interested in what he was doing. Nowadays seeing Iron man wouldn’t have been half bad. I wonder how they’d fit him in though? Maybe in the Scorpion missions as Stark Industries could’ve signed off to fund a “Scorpion Project” that was handled by an anonymous buyer and he goes to investigate after becoming unsure over the funding? Would’ve been cool to fight along side Stark in Spider-Man 3 because I wanted to see how Tobey’s Spider-Man would be around Stark? Probably like the comics where he has something of a distaste toward him. If he was properly in WOS… I would’ve loved a Symbiote Iron Man!

There's a scrapped ending to Iron Man (2008) where Nick Fury says "as if Gamma accidents, radioactive bug bites and assorted mutants weren't enough" meaning we could've had Tobey's Spider-Man along with X-Men, which also means at this point in the MCU we could've been watching "Sam Raimi's Spider-Man: Miles Morales" and we have Sony to blame for that not being a thing
