I had purchased a new 2012 car medium gray in color, and after I decon'd/clayed/polished the first time it literally changed the color from a 'warm' gray to a cooler shade. That was my epiphany on how bad this situation can be on a brand new car.

How about just using a rag to smear the iron x to the surface, so that it wont pour down on your plastic side skirts? Another good thing is you get even coverage all over the parts that matter. I use this method when using detailing spray as well. (Also with detailing spray, you can dilute them 1/3 spray, rest water if your poor/economical or just smart... lol ;)

Laura Hampton when I do the roof and around the windows, I don’t spray right up to the moldings, a few inches before and product will run to the edges, I keep an old but clean microfiber cloth and can bring to the edges as well. If it can’t be done this way, then tapping is best.

Hello Scott, what is the"secret Voodoo ingredient" in fallout removers. Why is it so expensive. Is there a household product that uses the same ingredient we could use?
@alexandervasquez10656 жыл бұрын
Stephen Remillard Look at his old videos about meguiars wheel cleaner. He said that it has the chemical that removes iron
@hallmarksdetailingllc80786 жыл бұрын
The chemical that dissolves iron is called Ammonium Thyoglycolate, and no there isn't any household item that I can think of that will work for iron... Unless BarKeepersFriend would work? It is oxalic acid which is great at removing water spots, and can be used to shine metal. It might actually dissolve the iron particle.
@RayD6006 жыл бұрын
It's not really a Voodoo ingredient ;). The main active ingredient is thioglycolic acid. It's what smells like rotten eggs and reacts and dissolves iron.

Hi Scott, Thanks for your informative videos. We had our car splattered with welders over spray a few weeks ago. But we did not notice what had happened till the small metal bits started showing up as spots of rust. we have tried washing the car to get the worst of it off, Without much success, Would this product be any good for bits of metal that big. I don't want to use a clay bar strait away in fear of scratching the rest of the paint in the process. the only thing i can think of is to pick each bit off 1 by 1(there are 100s to about 1000 bits). We are over in New Zealand some of the products you have in your videos are not available here. I was looking at a wheel cleaner as a substitute Thanks for any help you or your viewers may have, Dave.
