I love how intentionally similar their characters are by the writing. You can just tell Tony can’t help but see himself in Peter, I also love that Peter is the better version of Tony. Peter is smart, he cares about his family, and he’s not worried about partying and being cool when it suits him. Peter is just a good kid where Tony wasn’t and that’s what makes this relationship work so well.

So many people say Tom’s Spider-Man’s only purpose was being reliant on stark tech and the Avengers, yet in this scene he actually turns down the suit and a chance to be apart of the Avengers officially. Then in Far From Home, the entire movie was him wanting to get away from “Avengers level threats” and just focus on being a friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. Plus in Civil War, he has the whole conversation with Stark about wanting to look out for thr little guy, and dealing with the weight of problems he causes. So the building blocks for his comic book roots were always there. They didn’t just appear in No Way Home. No Way Home is just what completed his origin story arc. Additionally, considering how Spider-Man is all about independence and solving his own problems, with where Tony Stark was in Civil War (wanting to make up for the actions in Sokovia along with his own actions in the past) it makes since that Spider-Man would be introduced to the MCU through Iron Man. With how the MCU wrote Iron Man’s arc, Spider-Man was like a mini Iron Man. (Also he was the kid Iron Man saved in Iron Man 2, so it was established Peter Parker was set to have Iron Man as someone he looked up to). But remember, at the beginning and in the middle of Homecoming, Iron Man said he didn’t want Peter to be just like him, he wanted him to be better. He knew the kid looked up to him as a mentor (and possibly even father figure), so he wanted to take that as an opportunity to guide the kid through being a super hero, in a way his own father never did. He also probably never wanted Peter to be reliant on his technology, but instead be able to shine on his own one day (which we do see happen). But he also gave Peter one thing the other Spider-Men never had: teamwork. That’s how this Spider-Man stands out, is through the relationships he gains with the Avengers and the skills to work together with other people. Then in No Way Home, he is put through a situation where he has to learn to work by himself. This way, he can either be a part of a team, or by himself, and either way, be able to handle any missions in his upcoming movies.

What comes in the future, who can say, but at the very least I feel that Peter in the end hasn't given up on MJ and Ned, but rather shelved them until he's better and won't wrap them up in danger. When Tony took it due to his irresponsibility, he gave up his mask due to his chance to make a good impression on one of his biggest idols being dashed. However, when it seems Peter’s gotten what he’s been after the entire film, a relationship with his crush, he’s stunned when he realizes that the guy he’s been after is her father. Then he’s faced with a choice; dance with her and let innocents die or save them by putting away the Vulture at the cost of his new relationship. As Spider-Men do, Peter chooses the latter, and after all the questionable things Stark did in the past are revealed to him by Adrian, Peter remembers what Stark told him about him wanting Spider-Man to be better than him, and he realizes that he doesn’t need Stark’s help to be a hero, also remembering what Stark said about him not deserving to have a suit if he truly believes he is nothing without it. This is all happening as he’s being crushed by large chunks of a building Adrian dropped on him, so he summons the power fate gave him-not Stark-and pushes the rubble off himself in a chills-inducing moment of unveiling ripped straight from one of the classic comics. Now truly Spider-Man again, he sets out to stop Vulture and save millions.

Difference is that: 1. Tony is afraid that Peter fucks up, and now Peter has proven that he can manage himself. 2. Before Peter put everyone in danger, because he felt overconfident and was to greedy to prove that he can be as good as iron man without considering the consequences. Now Peter knew that he risks a lot when he fights evil and was more thoughtfull of his actions. 3. He proved Tony wrong who thought he had everything under controll, so he changed his attitude towards peter.

As a guy big on aesthetics, I'll admit I never really got into the comics Iron Spider design. It took the interpretation of the Re:EDIT figure for me to like anything based on that design. But I love this. It's less of Iron Man's color scheme and more of Spider-Man's, for one thing. There is still gold, but they accentuate the rest of the suit rather than simply serving as the secondary color. Not to mention the ridges that form the webbing pattern on the suit really help sell the metallic spandex look-and-feel that I, personally, believe are what Power Ranger suits look like in-universe, the other main reason for my preference towards the MCU design
