I love this scene because Tony isn't used to rejection and this is Peter's next evolution but he rejected it because he wants to look out for the little guy.
@vvenkat111 Жыл бұрын
nah. Peter here is second guessing Tony's intentions in this frame and trying to align with the "more mature" version he thinks TS expects of him. The kid desperately wants to be an avenger. Tom Holland does a beautiful job of conveying this subtextually. The looking out for the little guy bit was just a facade. Look at the way he looks at the suit and his "pleased as punch" face when he walks out. Tom Holland is probably the single best thing to happen to the spiderman arc. He brings a raw innocence and naivete that is normal for that age.
@ethyr Жыл бұрын
@@vvenkat111I agree with your interpretation of the scene, but this is also exactly why I hate Holland's spiderman. He goes through so much throughout the movies and does very little actual growing. Getting in constant fights like he does should have some effect on his character, yet he still acts like a kid in almost every facet. Even in this scene, which is explicitly meant to show development, feels more like a joke, because he only thought he was being tested. Tony Stark's awkwardness also ruined what should've been a heartwarming scene. I think the writers focus way too much on every scene being funny or having a punchline.

@@sammyiel9626 the whole point of the trilogy was to be an origin story for spiderman. all through homecoming, far from home, and the majority of no way home, we are watching peter parker try to live up to what spiderman is. at first he was following in the footsteps of tony, trying to meet his expectations, then he felt he had to fill in tony's shoes and be the new tony even when he didnt want to be, then in no way home he was finally finding his own way. It's weird that at 3:30 when Peter's mouth isn't visible to the camera they chose to dub in the "Friendly neighborhood Spider-Man" part. I'm not well versed in movie production but it felt so weird and out of place with how the audio quality changed and you could clearly tell that line came out in a controlled sound booth and is much louder than the rest of the audio in the scene. And the way his face is moving as visible from the back of the head it doesn't even look like what he said is in sync with his face physically moving as seen from the back. Not sure if the delivery just wasn't what they wanted from the scene so they dubbed it later or in the original scene he said something different.

I just realized that was one of the moments Peter became better than Tony like he always wanted. Because Tony was actually thinking about recruiting him to have another Avenger on the team, but Peter was just like Steve Rogers who “wanted to look out for the little guy“. It’s so cool to me how Peter can relate to Steve and Tony so much in terms of both physical and mental ability like strength and compassion

Peter is very careless. Why didn't he close his bedroom door before trying on the Spider-Man suit? You'd think that after Ned found out, he would have learned to make sure his room is secure before changing in or out of his suit

Did the reporters know that Spiderman was only 15? Wouldn't that cause some concern that the Avengers were recruiting "child soldiers"? I think Peter might have avoided a scandal.

Having been a fan of Spiderman since the early 1980's Aunt May has always been portrayed as an elderly strong willed and honorable lady. This version is so much fun. Hearing Aunt May use profanity brings to mind the What If where the Fantastic 4 died and were replaced. Peter took Reed's place. While in the towers Logan, another replacement, is smoking. May takes the cigar and puts it out in his coffee. They don't make many like her.

I think the fact that this scene wasn’t continued in FFH is a major letdown that I will always hate. All of CACW & SMH Peter & everyone are breaking their necks to make sure that Aunt May doesn’t find out. It finally happens. She swears about it. But upon rejoining the story in FFH, she’s sneaking his SM suit into his suitcase against Peter’s plan to leave it at home! So she’s putting Peter in danger while Peter’s ‘trying’ to stay out of it. How’d AM get from ‘WTF’ to you MUST go out as Spider-Man whenever someone’s in trouble no matter where on Earth you are? I wanted to see Peter convince AM that it was OK that he’s Spider-Man and that he’d be fine. Maybe with Tony and Happy’s persuasive arguing and begging. IMHO, the audience was shortchanged by being denied the chance to see that. A crucial storyline was never paid off.

That would probably entail Tony revealing the fact that he essentially conscripted an UNDERAGE teenager to be an Avenger. Would Tony have the guts to reveal to the world that he blackmailed Peter into essentially becoming a child soldier?

If I see a friend in a superhero suit I immediately think "Oh cool costume, you going to comic con as ???, where'd you get it, the quality looks so good." Because the thought of that person who could never be the hero, is just that ridiculous.

What if it was clearly a piece of experimental multimillion dollar paramilitary hardware, rather than spray painted plastic, though? I mean... The real Starktech suit is gonna look different from a kid's cosplay efforts, as we all saw when Tony and Peter first met.

he always called his Aunt "Aunt May"....never just "May"....and he always wanted to become an avenger because he could provide protection to his Aunt May, but Capt America said he was to immature, so that was the reason he never was really allowed to become one at first....This rendition of Spiderman is entertaining and I enjoy it very much, its just these little details which push me out of the story....
