Iron Within, originally a fan animation by the name of Codex was bought by Games Workshop two years ago. It is now finally released on Warhammer Plus. But greedy Games Workshop couldn't help but botch it again.

At least to the general populace, an astartes turning traitor is unthinkable due to the constant propaganda and misinformation that the bureaucracy of the Imperium spreads. In the book, “Night Lords” when a Rogue traitor was being attacked by traitor Astartes, not once did he think they were betrayers of the Imperium, he simply was confused about the events happening around him before he died.

​@@Scarletraven87 the eldar didnt come out, the iron warriors dont waste bullets, they waste their enemies. i loved how brutally efficient and cold that shit was. just like in astartes, they are cold, well trained combat automata. they are so precise and drilled that they dont seem human. no dumb one liners. so many of the best 40k animations or cuts have no lines at all.

they have some corruption, in that they work with Chaos undivided but treat Daemons and possessions as just another cog in their war machine, they just another asset to be use against their enemies. ie. where they summon daemons just to capture them and force it to possess weapons and become daemon engines etc.

There's a scene in the Angel Exterminatus book where the Emperor's Children army and Iron Warriors army are stood side by side. The Emperor's Children start going into their deranged Slaaneshi antics and the Iron Warriors are just staring like "What are they doing?"it's still during the heresy but it shows the rules destment for chaos like you said. It's more like they retained their pre-heresy legion-vibe but adopted several parts of Chaos to use to their advantage with minimal drawbacks. They use daemonengines for example, which are basically enslaved daemons forced into metallic bodies to fight things. Being in proximity to them definitely corrupts you in some way, but they have their own particularly strange brand of corruption.

The guardsmen are all of us. The reality of that universe shows that almost nobody who is into 40k would even survive selection for astarties recruits. Im an ex-infantry combat veteran, and even at my physical peak, many years ago, i would struggle to make it into any specialized guardsmen unit… i might make it into the guard, but i suspect most of us would just die a slow and lonely death praying to the god emperor. On an unnamed battlefield, on a forgotten planet, in a fight that doesnt even get a passing mention in any of the lore.

I think most people complaining about the way the Eldar were picked off so easily weren't giving a full examination of the situation. Their raids are meticulously planned, and with an interruption this big they do not adapt as quickly as you would like to think. In addition, Drukhari do not do well needing to assault heavily-armored targets across open ground on foot, and you will note that the Iron Warriors placed their shield line in the middle of a very open area, playing to their enemy's weakness. My main gripe about the scene is that almost none of them attempted a snap shot before they went down. It's not that their deaths were particularly unrealistic, but rather that they seemed to stop fighting back altogether until they got onto their boat.
