Thanks for this great upload! This is a prelude to a dynasty by the Cowboys. Eric Williams arrival at right tackle a little later on would complete the puzzle that would become the Great Wall of Dallas. Newton to left guard, Gesek at right guard, Stepnoski at center, and the late, great Mark Tuinei at left tackle. Time together to jell and they would be the most dominant O line of the 90's. The depth was helped by later getting Cornish and Stone for quality depth. The defense would be revamped too for 92. Haley was an instant impact guy on the line. Lett would arrive and could be dominant at times. Maryland and Casillas were great run stoppers and forced fumbles and got good pressure on qb's. Great depth on the line as Jones would begin to emerge as would Tolbert. The LB's were revamped too. Norton to the middle ultimately after Jones spent time there. Vinson and Darren Smith and Edwards would really raise their level up too. But the last and deciding piece of the puzzle was the great acquisitions of Everett, Kevin Smith, and Darren Woodson as great starters would allow Bates and Washington to become the best nickel package in football at the time. The results was a dynasty that Jerry and Jimmy did not take care of enough to see it through to its fullest. The Cowboys could have been football's greatest dynasty without the strife and the salary cap era destroying the lifetime team concept that allowed the Packers, Steelers, 49ers and Redskins to have such great runs at the top. With all due respect to the Patriots and Belichick's masterful game planning, the Back to back Cowboys would have beat the hell out of them with that power running game. The power running game is a long gone lost art now. Football is just not the same anymore.

He was the Vikings' radio announcer in the late 80s and did mostly regional backup telecasts of CFB and CBB in '90 and '91 before moving to ESPN in '92. He only did a handful of NFL games when CBS had a full schedule - this was probably his highest-profile NFL assignment.

Stop whining! NFL teams don't belong to any city. Maybe the city of Houston should have given Bud the stadium he wanted? Look at Nashvile right now? Gave the Titans a new stadium in 1999 and ANOTHER one in 2027. That's how the city government shows support for the team. Instead most of yall showed them the door in 1994 with only us LOYAL fans following the franchise to their new home. Had yall been like Cleavland fans and show untimate loyalty, they probably would have stayed.

Would the run n shoot work in today's NFL?
@MikeyStoneking
@MikeyStoneking 4 жыл бұрын
Probably not. With the speed of today's defensive players and the lack of blocking on the offensive line, I'm assuming that any team trying to run it would get devoured. But, who knows? I could be wrong. We may not ever find out.

@martinbradstreet5728

The NFL's '91 season, from which this game, featured here, was played, culminated with Buffalo and Washington facing one another in Superbowl XXVI. Buffalo would meet Dallas in the following '92 season's ('92 was round one for these teams, of course, as Buffalo and Dallas would meet in the SB for consecutive years, for SBs XXVII & XXVIII.) Superbowl. Yes, the Buffalo Bills went to a lot of Superbowls in the early '90's - four straight appearances, in case you didn't know. Sadly, four straight losses parallels those appearances for them. To get, perhaps, an inkling of an answer as to "why", as in why they lost (Or did they really lose??), I recommend watching a great football documentary: The Four Falls of Buffalo, made in 2015. It's heartfelt and comprehensive, while including great commentary alongside insightful contributions from many of the great players, coaches, and staff of the Buffalo Bills, veterans of the Bills in present day but contemporaries of the Bills during that past glorious run, and much, much more!! It's a must-see if you love football in all of the emotions it is able to provoke, from pain & heartbreak, pride, inspiration, & passion, and the legacy left between and through it all, it illustrates an unforgettable ride and time in sports!! Note: This wonderful documentary has key contributions from people on all sides of the football, and by that I mean that it's an effective film because we don't just hear from within the team but many others who remember and were affected by that era in NFL football who followed, covered, and/or loved the Buffalo Bills during their amazing run of four straight SB appearances/four straight AFC Championships - testimony from fans, media, other players/athletes, etc!! So what did you think? Did they really lose? Or are the "SB Bills" Buffalo Bills actually huge winners -.a dynasty with a legacy all its own!?!!!

@@martinbradstreet5728 incase u didn't know the oilers blowed a huge lead remember the 35 to 3 comeback with frank R. That year the oilers blowed Dallas out in the reg season...also I feel and believe the SF and Dal championship was rigged....Dallas had no penalties which Is BS their o line held and didn't get called....and the secondary held and never got called.....it was only because Montana left is the only reason the nfl felt it was their time....they didn't want young to beat Dallas too....that was a huge rig....if Montana was still QB ...they woulda made those calls against Dallas which would have been legit...that's why I say that year it shoulda been Houston and SF in that SB.

The House of Pain? For Oilers fans, year after year, after year, after year... I've been in Houston since 1968. I tried to be an Oilers fan as a kid, but they were just horrible until Bum Phillips took over in 1973, and it took a few years until they got Earl Campbell. It was easier, as a Texan, to root for the Cowboys of Tom Landry and Roger Staubach. FIVE SBs later - in 9 years - and the Oilers became a distant memory as far as fandom is concerned. I always liked the Blue, but they never could get over the hump. What a waste of talent the 90's Oilers were... They had as much talent on both sides of the ball as anyone, but lacked character, or leadership, or some intangible I don't have a handle on. Moon was the Tarkenton of the late 80's-90's. Lots of stats, long career, but he folded in the clutch. I don't think I've ever seen any man throw a prettier ball. Now? I don't watch modern football. Free agency and woke nonsense has ruined it. And Jerry Jones is a buffoon.
