Also Pizza Boy is sooo not the worst track on RDF, I’ll actively be ‘that guy in the comments’ right now cause Pizza Boy is a stellar and super fun track. I love it FOR it’s lyrics too and not in spite of it. All you had to say for Pizza Boy I felt about I Want a Love Like This, though. Just a generic song with bad lyrics I can’t take seriously, that just happens to be a little catchy.

Re-Animator is fairly clumsy as an album but as a collection of tracks I’ll always love it. It’ll always be memorable to me, personally, but it helps that R-A was the first album cycle I was here for from the beginning. As you said, the highs are so high but the lows just crumble. Regardless I’ll defend it any chance I can get. Call me an apologist I guess 😅

@@Theybo2 I think once someone gets far enough into the video and gets a sense of how you view the quality of an album in full, it’s not controversial either way. Like, you had a consistent line of reasoning and it made sense. And besides, I have a much more controversial album ranking as I think AFD is their worst album. If I did a video with that at #6 I’d be discredited immediately.

I honestly LOVE every one of their albums so much. They’re SO good. Even their weaker albums are better than most band’s best albums. Man Alive is my fav. Everything Everything are so damn talented and underrated. I want them to get the accolades they deserve, but I also love their $25 live show tickets 🤷🏼‍♀️ They’re ridiculously talented and they pull from all the right genres and artists. Love them sm

I agree with a fever dream so much!! it holds a place in my heart since it was the first album I was THERE for. I remember tuning for the release in from my highschool computer because 7pm in the UK was like 11am for me. It was a mainstay on my way to and from school and errands. And as a person who likes listening to albums all the way trough its such a cohesive listen. I can`t stomach Get to heaven in a single listen, its just a bit too much for me even though it has more certified bangers than a fever dream and yet I have listened to a fever dream from beginning to end multiple times! also I I ADORE Raw data feel! loved your video! keep it up!

Re-animator imho should be at the bottom of any list. I don't know what happened when they were recording but to me it sounds short of really good melodies, dark and quite depressing. All their other albums are leagues above.

I think it's their most divisive album because it's their most experimental (and some of those experiments work while others flop badly). It also has my favourite song of all time from them in The Actor. I think the slower, moodier songs on RA are for the most part much stronger than the upbeat ones.

I love Re-animator, because I believe it to be their most cohesive record. The shorter runtime, compared to the other albums, helps with this halloween/sci-fi kind of anthology vibe. The title of the album itself gives that away. Every two songs or so have their own group of thematic song titles and lyrics, with the exception being Big Climb. It is a juxtaposition with Lord of the Trapdoor, as the society Higgs depicts goes from corporate identity and loss of control, to feral tribes with free will (Lord of the Flies?), respectively. Some other themes are more obvious, like Planets into Moonlight (my favorite track). The origin of Violent Sun is also quite an emptionally resonant story, from Higgs. The guitar lines, throughout Re-animator, feel like the main reoccuring element that ties every song together; mainly due to chugging 8th note rythms and rests, with the focus on reverb on every instrument. The tracks without them, like In Birdsong, are for the sake of the balladry. May I add that this album also contains some killer bass lines, that scratch my brain. The heavier moments don't feel as removed, simply beause the catchiest moments on the record are in there. Though; I wish the production lent to some of the breakdown riffs having more attack to them, like in the b-side single, SUPERNORMAL - which is a banger deep-cut btw. While people seem to not see how distinct the tracks are - many moments seem quite iconic, to me. Black Hyena's chorus, or ending of Lost Powers, or the spacious Actor all seen like the outcome of Re-animator's driving force: being Everything Everything's response to the claustrophobia of Covid-19, and making their most home-spun, indie record, to date.

I love Everything Everything and think they're one the top10 bands in history. I can confidently say I love more than 90% of what they put out.
