Brother, this video is the absolute best. Straight to the point and rich with content. I was wondering about the longer screws and you explained it all so well. It's great that this brand has it's own ecosystem and you can take the plates to barbells and even do lat pulldowns. Pity that they don't use the same quicklock system for their barbells though, but overall I'm sold.

Great review. I went with: Two 45lb sets and the 120lb add on. I didn't need the stand. Having two sets of handles allows for drop sets. The advantage of these is the flat ends. I would recommend these to anyone.

Great to hear you like them and would recommend them too! I thought about ordering / or trying to order a second set of handles for my warm up set(s), but this was a big order and I may try to get a second set of handles at a later date. That is a good option for warm up sets, drop sets, etc. Thanks so much for your comment.

For me the convenience of Powerblocks won out and I don't regret that decision. I've enjoyed using them for 7 or 8 years. But it's easy to see the appeal of these too. Options are nice. I noticed on the boxes they are made in Taiwan instead of China, which is a good thing. An interesting thing is that my Powerblocks came with a lifetime warranty as well but today I can't find warranty information on their website. I do see that they now have a USA made set again though, which is awesome to see.

I had these and now have the Powerblocks. I think the IMs would be better for heavier lifters, or people who like to "dump" the weights at the end of a set. The Powerblocks are super quick to change weights. The IM stand is sturdier than the PB stand.

when i was shopping for dumbbells for this new adventure,i did consider these. I think what steers me away is,with adjustable dumbbells,i want all in one, turn a dial and go..otherwise i feel its more oldschool bars, collars, and a ton of plates laying around like most of us start with..NOW these are a slight step up from that sure..AND they do look pretty cool..Almost a year after buying into gym equipment again,IF I could go back would I maybe reconsider these? Maybe. At least they do give options to go really heavy. Thats good.

Great review. But do you feel safe with it on max loads (75/120 lbs)? 4:42 Looks like with the 120 lbs the screw goes into handle only for about 0.5 inch and with 75 and smaller screw it's even less (~0.25 inch). Can you actually uses the longer screw with 75 lb and less?

Good review! I've had the 120lb kit since the beginning of the pandemic. I also have a 5-100lbs set of fixed dumbbells, but I'd have no problem just using the IM's if space were an issue. They really need to do a better job of letting people know what the Heavy Handle kit actually does. It really brings the dumbbells into balance, especially when they're heavier. I also don't have large hands and I was spending so much energy trying to keep anything over 80lbs balanced in my hands when doing pressing movements I was seriously considering selling them. The Heavy Handle kits makes them feel just like my individual hex dumbbells. I see you have their seated pressing pad for your IM SuperBench Pro. I ordered mine last week. Looking forward to trying it out. For anyone with space issues you can easily get by with the IM2000, SuperBench Pro, and adjustable dumbbells and not miss anything in your workouts. It's a really well designed system.

Curious if you have the end magnets and how well they work for quick drop sets? I'm considering these too say I add 100lbs for bench with 20s on the ends kick those off and continue set with 80. @babygiantbarbell1014
@babygiantbarbell1014 Жыл бұрын
@@chrisdonnell2575 I do not have the end magnets, so unfortunately I cannot attest to their effectiveness. I do still like the dumbbells though. They are not going to win any beauty contests, and I would argue that the fit and finish should be better for what you are paying (I had to paint pen my plates with the weights due to the sticker scratching on first gen plates. The second gen had the weight painted on, but why not engrave it?). Handles have a substantial knurling and are beefy. They are very substantial dumbbells though. I also have Pepin handles, and I prefer them after using both extensively. I have a review for the baadass dumbbells on my channel, but I had the old handles then. I also have a video comparing the new baadass handles vs Pepin handles and a Pepin review if you care to check them out!

I'm going to preference my question by saying, no I can't lift 165lb dumbbells. It looks like you are adding the 120lb kit on the stand, but it doesn't appear you can do that if someone could go above the 120lb kit. Is it correct that someone would need to load them on the floor for something above the 120lb kit? I'm not seeing a custom stand on the site. I still don't think I'd feel real comfortable dropping these without crash pads.

You are correct, I would load anything over the 120 pound mark on the floor. I have seen some people make a custom top to go on the stand. Always enjoy your reviews because you often talk about details that other reviewers overlook. Can you validate that the 165/180 pound dumbbells wont actually fit on top of the bench. I've heard that as well as judging from your own video, looks like you are maxed on bench space at the 135. Just checking, as I would think at some point ironmaster would develop a wider/newer bench to accommodate adding up to the 180 pound upgrade set. Thanks!

What’s your thoughts on the Fast Series by Pepin? These are pretty much half that cost for the 120lbs. I really want something that can go heavy and can be dropped if need be. Also don’t want it to be awkward like those 90s for PowerBlocks. I’m debating on these, Fast Series or just buying a pair of 85’s and 95’s for my dumbbell set and using the 2.5lb micro Gainz to fill the gap.

Hey Tim! My first choice is always going to be fixed dumbbells. As for the Fast Series by Pepin, I have not used them so I can’t really give them a fair shake, but, without having tried them, I love the fast adjustment, but I have never liked having to put a dumbbell in a tray. I still love these Ironmasters as they get me to the 130 pound mark and even heavier if I get the next add-on.

@@HomeGymHacksandReviews Those are good points, I’ve gotten hung up with the PowerBlocks trying to re-racks 80s before and it was annoying. I bought the Gungnir’s hoping they would meet my needs but having to use 25lb plates gets a bit awkward. I’d have to buy more plates to make those work because my urethane is too thick and those sleeves are somewhat short. I’m still gonna wait for Brandon’s review for the Fast Series but these seem like a solid option especially for me. I have the full set and PowerBlocks so these are for going heavier than 90s mostly.

It really depends on you. If you’re going over 80-100 pounds and want to drop them, I would go with Ironmaster. I think what goes under looked in adjustable dumbbells is racking the weight. I went through so many adjustable dumbbells including powerblocks which I really like also but i hated racking the powerblocks especially the heavier sets in the nested set of weights. With the Ironmasters, you can just set a 80lb or 90lb dumbbell on the stand with no effort rather than carefully trying to get them perfectly aligned in the nested set. Wow I just seen your IM rack. How does the new back pad attachment go mate? Really interested in that new one. Having a proper lower back support for overhead dumbbell exercises is one of the reasons why I keep looking at grabbing a preacher bench as it worked well as an overhead support for tricep presses back in my public gym days But yeah, getting very hard to pass up on a SB when the time comes to pull the trigger and I'll primarily just use it for attachments for accessory exercises, I think I'll grab the original as it's taller, so could work better than the SB Pro for leg curls/extensions for feet clearance (though the SB Pro is declined for curls/extensions) I sold my backup 45lb pair of Ironmasters and extra stand a few weeks ago, got about 85% of my money back, so from that cash I bought a few pairs of 5/10kg medium sized trigrip plates to match the 1.25/2.5kg change plates I already have, a rackable 6ft barbell and a pair of 17.5kg dumbbells with plenty of change to spare. Quite a few guys were wondering if I had a 75lb set to sell, had to say nah on that one, though it's good to know for a rainy day though that there's interest in the product at least so should be able to get back most of my cash if I ever choose to sell. Slowly building up the rubber hex dumbbells though as I do prefer the convenience, I think I will eventually go up to 40 or 45kgs for hex in 2.5kg increments, then Ironmasters after that for the real heavies + kettlebell stuff, but I'm definitely keeping my main 120lb Ironmaster set and kettlebells as they're a major fallback option if I have to downgrade, if I've got the Ironmasters and a bench = I've got a home gym still. Will grab the heavy handle kit later in the year I reckon, I'll be able to buy a few more hex pairs but not everything I want as yet, as I already have upto 20kg pretty well covered, so going up in 5kg increments like 25s/30s/35s/40s etc spreads it out a bit, then grab the 2.5kg incremental variants at a later date. Will probably have the hex build about 2/3s done if I do that, so I think the heavy handle will help in filling a few gaps. Been doing 96/101Lb flat presses last few weeks (the longer pins are about 3 pounds each give or take, whereas the shorter ones are about 2.5lb each). Trying to work on building my left pec a bit as it occasionally lags while barbell benching and my right side wants to take over, so might try 106s on Friday (48kg), though I reckon I have 111s in me eventually (50kg), gets a little awkward sometimes trying to balance my hands when I'm in my first few reps, so hopefully the heavy handle sorts that out. But yeah, once I'm going over 90lbs (88.2lbs is 40kgs) it starts feeling pretty heavy in the hands, so I think having hex dumbbells going upto somewhere around 40-45kg feels about right for my working range. Anyways, enough blabbering from me, good to see you got these in after a long wait. Fantastic product.

So far, the back pad is great. I am using it for a bit before I review it. I am glad to hear you almost got all of your money back for the IMs and you’re right, the Heavy Handle Kit will definitely make the heavier weights feel more centered / balanced. It is the perfect addition to the dumbbells. I know you are pretty tall, so like you said, the OG Super Bench may be the better option, but even the SBP with the Leg Ext / Curl places the bench 2’ above the ground because the bench is angled when the Leg Ext / Curl is attached. Thanks so much for watching the review, RWandBB!

Yeah gday HGHR, got news my Landlord is selling, but the real estate is trying to sell to an investor first, but looks to me like it'll be about 20-33% stay (if new landlord is an investor and provides acceptable ts and cs), but I'd say 67-80% I'll probably leave in the Aussie winter or spring or something, just too many variables that lean towards moving unfortunately Might have to down(up)grade to a very similar setup to your spare room mate 😆😆😆 not many rentals on the market with big garages or anything in my price range, looks like an IM2000 + IM dbs and super bench setup + SB attachments in a spare bedroom is the way to go. Kinda sucks I may have to sell half of my equipment, but it is what it is and was the risk I was willing to take. Definitely not selling my IM dbs and my adjustable bench though, can't see why I'd part with them, should be able to find a space for them at least, will try and hang on to my Echo bike too, but I know my mum and an old school mate would gladly take it I think if I don't have the room for an IM2000 setup though then the super bench/SB Pro, most of the attachments and the cable tower will suffice as I can drag them around at least then maybe chuck some bumpers, my beater bar, some mats, my landmine and some sort of squat stand in a shed or something to drag out on a nice day. Would probably have to go back to gym though in some capacity to fill in some gaps 😑 probably 2-3 times a week, other 2-3 days get it done at home

I wanted these so bad but never got picked in the lottery to purchase. I ended up getting Nuobells because I needed something I would actually use. I hated using my Titan loadable DBs for most exercises.

I’m sorry to hear you didn’t get picked in the lottery…before I read your next sentence, I was going to tell you to maybe wait one more time. Now that you have the Nuobells, are you satisfied with them? Any plans to sign up for the lottery again? I agree, I owned a set of plated loaded DBs and didn’t like them and I always felt like a, “Final Destination” moment was right around the corner.

I was in the lottery for about a year before I ended up getting the Nuobells. They are cool for what they are but I'm paranoid about my kid messing with them and dropping them. I may get Ironmaster/Pepin DBs in the future but for now going to focus on adding equipment I can fit in my space (which I'm redoing next week). I bought the Titan seated leg curl/extension during the flash sale last week but going to wait til next weekend to assemble it. Also hoping to get an adjustable bench when I get my next OT check (the new Rep bench they're about to drop looks sick in the military green powder coat).

I have the larger pair of Titan db handles and the longer sleeves just bang into each other during presses with anything other than a neutral grip. Also the 2 handles had some QC issues, one of them was much more passively knurled than the other which was annoying. They were on backorder so I would have had to wait 3 months for a new handle, but Titan gave me a scratch and dent discount to make up for it.

@@mattm314 I love the Titan Seated Leg Curl…used it this morning. It’s super easy to put together, and you may have seen I recommend leaving the stop pin off the frame to make transitioning between leg ext / leg curl seamless. At some point, I may get one of the Rep benches, they do look good.

Come on don't sell yourself short you can lift the 135lb if you can hit 315lb on bench, and that's very achievable for any guy your height

I did 110 once last week. I am thinking my days of 135lb DB presses are behind me.
