About a month ago we took a trip over to our friend Carl's house to dig out his 1947 Ford coupe that he built with his brother back in the 70s. While they never complete the project, the majority of the work is done. The coupe currently has a Ford 302 powerplant with an automatic from a 1968 Ford Galaxie. We were even able to get the car to crank over and briefly fire that day. Today we are going to drag the car out of the garage and get it back to the Iron Trap Garage. The plan is to give the car a few styling changes, go over the suspension and brakes, and they give the keys to Matt's dad to enjoy next summer. This will be a fun little project to get back on the road and enjoy!!

You're right Kurt. this time last year, I visited my Dad in S. E. Pa. from my home in the Rockies. Only to return in Feb. for his funeral. He loved Model A's, learned to drive in one etc. Spend as much time as you can with them. One will never regret the drive /airport time etc.

So so true. I lost my Dad, the end of August, I spent 43 years in the trucking industry, only to retire and bury both parents this past summer, after I retired. Cherish and love while you can. Love your videos, I inherited our 1950 mercury coupe, so I now have a long road ahead to get the old gal running again. Thanks for the Ideas, and tips.

So very very true ! I lost my dad 4 years ago this last July ! He never talked much about his time in the Army fighting in Korea ! Until about a month or so before he passed away ! I had been in the Air Force and I think that is why he started talking to me about Korea ! I still miss him to this day !

Those clips are a warning to me: "Your mess might end up with barns like this one!" I am on a way to end up in a chaos as well: To much old car stuff and being unable to throw things away. Love those cars of the Fourties. Specially this coupe. It is surely worth saving. Thanks for showing us your car world. Real cars and real passion for old iron. No fake shit, I love it.

Yet another project - hopefully this will not take too much we used to call these semi detached back in the day as opposed to house for the sedan - much more room inside than the 30's cars. The 34 stance looked great in the background when you were unloading. Moon seems to be constantly on the go with his tail up like a signal that he is there - I often seen him cruising in the background - actually just the tip of his tail :)

10" Vette Rally wheels with 15" 40 Ford ribbed trim rings and Police car center caps. The 10" Rally wheels have "step" in the outside that perfectly fits the early trim rings. Looks like it was designed for them. The wide wheels will give the car some "attitude" !!!

Don't blame Mike for the trans coming out of park when you started that coupe. Ford automatics are known for jumping out of park into reverse. I have a friend that had a pro built 1951 Ford convertable (trophy winner) that went from park into gear while he was warming it up and damaged the car and garage. My 1956 F100 I put a lokar style floor shift into and even though it can't come out of reverse with that shifter I still jack up the rear when I run it for a while (it is still a project). Jim

@@IronTrapGarage The story continues: I sold the '46 Ford to a friend who years later [about 1997] after rebuilding the Y-Block, pulled it out and replaced it with a Mercury flathead that he had. I eventually bought the Y-Block from him and put it in the shed. In 2005 I purchased a six cylinder '59 Ford fordor out of Sacramento and shipped it to New Zealand. I drove it for about 4 years with the six cylinder and then I swapped the y-Block into it and it is running great. So, that motor I enjoyed when I was 18, I'm still enjoying today :)
