One thing I like about this channel is everyone gets along and no one hesitates to give credit to someone else. Matt does a good job managing the garage.

Well, since MT canceled a bunch of Hot Rod themed programs, thank goodness there is still, and hopefully be, Irontrap Garage. No paywall here, free to view pure hotrodness.

I was never a fan of long shackles. Looked cool and was cheap to do, but the car would "sway" when cornering, and if hard enough, would allow tire to fender contact. When I got affluent, I used nothing but dropped axles and proper reversed spring eyes.
@GeekGinger13 сағат бұрын
I think you nailed the front. I’m not a tail dragger guy so I wouldn’t go any further in the back, and would probably level it for that matter, but that’s just me.

My first car was a primered '40 Coupe my Master Gearhead Dad dragged home for me - no engine. Many trips to long-gone Ford Obsolete in SoCal -(the most awesome Vintage Ford boneyard ever !) for an 8BA Flathead and many bits and lessons how to install. A pair of dual exhausts, some '70s 'ultrasuede' (faux mohair look) upholstery and a Black Earl Scheib paint job -never quite as nice as your '39 ~ How's that Sam Barris haircut coming along ? Looking Forward... Best of Holidays from California !

Steve's the king. Does he have a hot rod of his own ?
@lawsonclark24669 сағат бұрын
Well, I had a 37 ford 6- window Hot Rod. Put lowering shakles on front. Corrupted the steering. When I turned the wheel, it wouldn't turn and then it would dart in the turn direction. Had to ad a Panhard bar to correct. Zig zagged down the road never knowing where it was going. Scary

Yes I like Matts' work and Mike steady hand .... but living in reality means driving on 3rd world potholed roads. Not exactly ideal for lowering. Yes, some lowering will pass alright but all the "radical" drop will do is scrape all the hard work away. And to "radically" chop is basically midgetizing a once renown inviting interior. Good work just the same.
