When dismantaling sheet metal, welds and spot welds, a great tool is a butter knife. Go in your kitchen drawer and find a general stainless steel butter knife, chop off bout half of the blade and grind an edge on it, makes the best chisel for seperating sheet metal
@JackWilson-y1r4 күн бұрын
I like a 5 in 1 paint tool. It's great to separate spot welded panels and can be used a chisel to brake welds.

I have a proper panel separator tool I use that you can hammer on and resharpen. But that certainly could work for a while. Good tip.

YAY !!! Love this 33 , 3 window , Ardun Coupe ! I remember when you got it Matt . That was about the time I started watching your channel . I've seen a ton of improvements to the whole shop , & all of the cars & trucks . This one is by far my favorite project , so I will be watching every move you make on it . Don't get me wrong , I love it all . This is the way to do it right , not cobbled together . Step by step , until it is completely done . That Sedan Delivery has really come a long way in a short time , & it looks & runs fantastic . This one will get there too . There's a lot more horses to this one , & it requires a full going over , to make sure it's ready for what is powering it down the road . The rockers came out nice , & reinforce the structure . I'm glad it's on the menu for this winter ! Great post , have a great weekend , All !

Excellent work, as always. It is funny that over in the US the norm seems to be dropping the body on the chassis, whereas over here in the UK they drop the chassis, putting the axles over the springs, some times with spacers, and sports cars here from the '30s tend to have a lower ground clearance in the first place.

Nice work but a question. Matt, you said that the frame rail (or inner structure) that had the holes in it that caused the outer rockers to rust, was a problem. Are you planning to weld a cover over it to eliminate that potential problem rearing its head at a later date?
@IronTrapGarage4 күн бұрын
It won’t be driving in the winter or dirt roads with mud ever again so it’s likely not an issue.

If all of those holes are a problem, shouldn't they be closed up by a one long piece on the inside? This one is in second place after the sedan delivery. It goes without saying that it needs at least a mist coat of green throughout. It needs home made bomber seats.
@IronTrapGarage4 күн бұрын
Sure if it was going to be used as a daily driver In the winter and weather. But for the life it will live from here on out it won’t be an issue. Mainly was the dirt and mud and salt getting into the rockers when they were just “cars” and weren’t collectible

Although I am Subscribed, this has been the first video is a very long time that I actually watched to the end, because it was content that was interesting, informative and a bit entertaining , gave it a thumb up too. I encourage you guy to consider getting back to producing content like this again, it was what attracted me personally to the channel. Your adventures to swap meets and barn finds are boring AF and I cannot give any time to 'Shop Updates' vlogs and the construction projects etc, I do not find that content in the least bit relevant to vintage hot rodding from my jaded perspective. But, this was good content.Thanks.
