Before a timeskip can happen Iruma needs to fail at something big time and his need for others must play a part in said failure. The revelation of him being a human doesn't really count. A nice long timeskip would be great keeps with how the students don't instantly become equal to teachers like in other series If he does learn close combat it would make more sense for him to use a weapon after all Iruma is a human that are physically weaker than demons using magic continuously to augment your abilities knowing you have a limit to your magic isn't a wise decision. Some weapons bypass this problem because raw power could be less of a factor. His magic and archery could use some upgrades as well
