I really appreciate the niche of Drink Champs cause I always heard of all these older legends, but never tapped in fr until I discovered the show. Some Hiphop History on classic artists when they dropped their classic albums: Nas dropped Illmatic at age 20. Jay-Z dropped Reasonable Doubt at age 26. DMX dropped It's Dark And Hell Is Hot at age 27 and dropped Flesh Of My Flesh, Blood Of My Blood at age 28. Tupac dropped Me Against The World at age 24 and dropped All Eyez On Me at age 25. Rakim dropped Paid In Full when he was freaking 19. KRS-One dropped Criminal Minded at age 22. Notorious B.I.G. dropped Ready To Die at age 22. Big Pun released Capital Punishment at age 27. ALL OF THESE ARTISTS DROPPED CLASSICS AT AGES UNDER 30. SO DON'T SAY THAT PEOPLE UNDER 30 CAN'T BE LEGENDS. THEY DON'T NEED 15+ YEARS TO BE CONSIDERED AS LEGENDS. IT IS ALL ABOUT HOW THE CHARACTER OF ARTIST AND THE ART THAT THEY ARE PUTTING OUT THAT MAKES THEM A LEGEND!
@njnatl09

@@njnatl09 Right. The ages are off a bit, Pac was 24 when All Eyez dropped, Jay was 27, DMX was 28, etc. but they were not legendary yet when those albums dropped. Years later they were recognized as such, of course. It's easy to come up but to maintain what you've built years, decades down the line is what makes legends.

Irv is really growing this idea on me: Drink Champs Presents Drink Up...where u invite the new generation "to the table," bring legends as "mentors", do some clowning, & speak on the future of the culture. And the mentors ensure Nore has enough content cuz that's a real factor. It also doesn't need to be 2 hrs long lol

I’m not interested in watching nobody from this generation on DC. I like it just the way it is and I thought the whole point behind it was to pay homage and interview the OG’s of hip hop? It’s so interesting to hear stories and learn stuff from back in the day that I never knew. I have no connection with these new artists.
