I'm glad all the youtube prospectors all know each other and help promote each others channels. Been watching you guys for quite some time now and always look forward to the new content. One day I will visit Canada again and I''d love to meet you and pauly. (life goals) You both, along with klesh sparked my love of panning for gold and prospecting and helped me through a pretty rough patch in life. But, after 2 spinal surgeries I'm happy to say I am fully capable now of keeping my hobby alive and the amount of information I've learned for you all has helped a ton. Look forward to all your up coming videos!

there was a major gold find in scotland recently, the Reunion Nugget. 121.3g (4.2 oz). it has a hole in it which has been suggested was made by a neolithic antler hand tool. some really old school bling :D

Try holding a strong magnet right on top of about 2 inches of water/material but, do not touch the magnet to the bottom of the pan. The magnetic sands will rise through the water, the heavy gold stays. I recover the smallest of flower gold that way and it is so much easier. I am in WA state so very similar to you in Canada. Lots of black sands and flat gold lol. I also pan with a strip of metal on the bottom of the pan and a strong magnet in a housing ( joint container lol ) in the pan towards the center/forward of the riffles ( where you want the gold to go ). The magnets pull the black sand to the bottom and the gold follows quickly. It is all locked with magnetic force until you remove the magnet, wipe off the magnetic sand into the pan, and either clean it or pan it as is. Works awesome and way faster clean up.

@mikeshell95985 жыл бұрын
@@harleythebeaglefriends4573 Yes. There is good gold in Ohio. For great information check out ospagold.com (Ohio State Prospectors Assn.) Most of the gold is tiny, but there are decent pickers occasionally. Nuggets do turn up but rarely. I've only found a few.

I'm very new to panning - i did it once many years ago with someone else's equipment and am trying to get into it more seriously. I have a couple of questions. 1) is there a particular paydirt that you'd recommend for a novice who is trying to get basic techniques down in a tub before going out into the wild? I'd ideally like something affordable that simulates more realistic conditions than this (for instance, more black sand than this one). 2) I've seen a few panners talk about using dish soap to keep the gold from floating, but where I'll be doing a lot of my panning is probably going to be public lands and I want to make sure I'm not hurting the environment. Is the dish soap totally necessary when out in the wild? If so, are there environmentally friendly brands you'd recommend? Thanks 😊
@melin19695 жыл бұрын
when refering to potentional poi would it be worth weighing the bags to see if they do contain the stated weights or not ? afterall if a bag is below weight that could change the poi values and missing dirt could mean missing gold , though i relise these were sent to you rather than bought

It is what is used in dish washers to prevent spots. It reduces the surface tension so small particles will not float on water.
