Well an udon + ramen combo is not new since there is the noodle + vermicelli combo already. Which sounds great but in actuality its unsatisfying. The idea is to eat both at the same time. In reality their size difference will make the smaller one slide off whether you use fork nor chopstick. One way is to roll them with fork like spaghetti, but that is bs. When eating noodle and vermicelli you wanna enjoy the texture of every strands, not a lump of it.

There's an udon restaurant in Las Vegas Chinatown called "Oodles Noodles" and the chef there cuts udon fresh to order traditional style at the counter. It was pretty cheap too, and I went there every day while on a trip and had a similar situation where I got a little embarrassed they recognized me.

But from some sources it goes back to 1200 back, and others the Meiji period around 200 years back. I actually had a feeling it wasn't really feom Japan, but i thought it was from Spain or something for some reason. All that aside, love the animation still.
