Mine is 209 sf and is small, I do have a freezer box style there and an old coal stove which I use to heat up the garage (not attached to the house), I do scratch my head trying to configure the setup of my power tools but I don’t have the room to work efficiently. I do like that tool cabinet you have and I have to build one like that. Also I sold my Jet table saw and got a Dewalt table saw since the other one was too big.

Nice clean well organized shop. I like the plastic peg board. One thing I noticed was you had some strap type peg retainers. I just discovered a new and better type on Amazon. They are small rubber inserts . Simply press in and the lower part of the hook presses in. Simple and cheap. I did have to drill the hole slightly larger to make it easier to push in. The nice thing as well is you can put hooks right next to each other. You can’t do that with the strap type retainers. Good video sir🤙🏻

Nice shop. When we bought our home 10 years ago, we looked for a three car garage. Both cars are parked inside at night. I essentially work in the space of a one car garage. Definitely doable. I was coming from a condo that was 670 square feet in size so between the house and garage, I felt like I had moved into a huge space.

I love pegboard but have been moving away from it and starting to use magnetic tool holders. I mount them to the pegboard so I get a mix - best of both worlds.

That’s a great idea. I like it. I’ve added a few magnetic studs from Lee Valley which screw into pegboard but they’re rather pricey though they do work very well.

I have a small workshop too. Mine is 360sqft. What size is your SawStop Tablesaw. I like your idea of putting the Router on the end of your table saw. Because of time and other things that had to take precedence I haven't had time to really get my shop set up. I've got a jobsite table saw and have both my table saw and miter saw on gravity rise stands like you so I can pull them outside when I need to work on stuff. My shop is packed full of lots of other stuff right now and my goal this year is to finally get everything set up. I want to upgrade to a SawStop PCS 3 HP and I see once you get everything organized in the shop it doesn't leave much room in a small shop like ours. Thanks so much for putting out this video because it has HELPED me tremendously.

i have the same laguna bandsaw I did not like the mobile base . i went to home Depot ang got 4 2 1/2" casters with a stud base. the bottom of the band saw has holes on all 4 corners of the base i put the casters in very stable base and you have 4 locking points

I have a shop about the same size as yours, my space preserving strategy was a smaller euro 5-in-1 combination machine. With the table attached to the sliding table saw the unit takes up slightly more space than an American cabinet saw but then you don't have another footprint for the jointer and planer.

350 sq ft? positively spacious! I have less than 1/3 your space (10 sq m) and as well as all of the same woodworking tools I have a large metalwork lathe, milling machine, welder, brazing station, electronics assembly area, and a second bandsaw for metal. Of course, I do not clutter up the space with systainers (probably the worst form of tools storage invented by man- so many steps to retrieve). I did have to site my CNC machines and 3D printers elsewhere- but then you do not want those is a workshop anyway- they do their work without you needing to be there. Takes a bit of planning, but perfectly possible.

Love, love, love your shop set up. I'm building a home (should be finished in about 4 weeks) and its got a 14'x32.5' woodworking shop (almost the same size as yours). I've got 10' ceilings so I'll have a bit more vertical storage. I've tried to organize my tools using Sketchup but alas not being in the shop I can't come up with a good plan. After seeing your shop I've a much better idea of where things should go. I've got just about every tool you showed so our shops need the space for the same equipment. I don't have a lathe, but it's one item I'd love to get. In my shop I've got a dog run across one end (the end opposite the garage door) so I lose about 44" of linear space, however I plan on using the bench over the dog run for my miter saw. I've been away from woodworking for about 20 years now, but now that I'm retired (64 years old) I'll have the time and space to build stuff. Thanks for posting this and showing how you set everything up, it's going to be a big help for me organizing my new space. You got a new subscriber 🙂

Congrats on the new home, Pete! It’s really exciting to set up the shop from scratch. One little piece of advice…don’t be afraid to change stuff after you’ve lived with it for a bit. For example, I used to have my bench running along the short back wall. Once I moved it to its current position, it made a world of difference. Love your shop but, it may be a single car garage but it's obviously a large single car garage as it's massive compared to my single car integral garage in the UK. 😄 I'm wrestling with the issue of extraction at the moment as like you, I just don't have room for all the ducting and also don't have the room for a complete dust extraction / cyclone system either.

Did you need to upgrade the electrical service to the garage, or was whatever the home builder did enough?

That part of the house is an addition and it has its own panel. I don’t recall how many amps but it has sufficient juice. The only thing I had to do was swap out 4 breakers and replace them with 2 dual-breakers (and run the wiring) to handle the table saw and jointer (on the same line and not an issue as they’re never running at the same time) and the heater (on its own line), all running on 220.

Hi Jerome. The garage is an addition and has its own 100-amp panel. I’m able to fit two 220 volt lines in the box. One covers the heater for the garage and another runs to the jointer and the table saw (and not an issue because those two tools are never on at the same time). That was ash. Soft maple is also a good choice.

Another way to regain space and make a little cash is to sell those Festool boxes. Other than my Domino and large router they are completely unnecessary and space hogs in home shops.
