Is 8GB Of VRAM Enough In 2024? RTX 3060 TI Benchmarks

Hey guys, today's video is on the RTX 3060 TI. I just bought this GPU back in November for $450 which is still a better price to performance compared to the 4060 ($390). It was time to put down the legendary and trusty 1060. It was my first graphics card and I owned it for 6 years but was falling behind in a few games. My goal for this upgrade was to achieve 100 FPS in 1080p at Ultra graphics. But does it achieve that?

Im sporting 4GB vram and well ... its manageable. not optimal though. but most games run just fine on 1080p 60FPS

This card will be awesome for a long time. Remember that people are still playing games using lower graphics cards and alot of them arent intending on upgrading.

19:44 the framerate drops in the thirties when you're near water because at ultra the water physics are set to max. The gpu is doing great but for the best experience i would use optimized settings and not always stick to the ultra preset. And i would definetly set the water physics to the lowest considering the fact that you almost never go into the water.

True. I usually do optimize my graphics and lower settings that I don’t notice from higher ones but just for this video I wanted to show the max graphics for a “worst case scenario” of performance. Thanks for the feedback!

It really depends because if the person is playing at 1080p the majority of games would use at most 7.5gb of Vram and yes that is maxing it out but if playing at 1440p for newer titles it would struggle a little maxing out but could handle well enough at like high settings (Medium/high for games like Witcher 3). Like to note i didn't watch the video i just clicked cause one KZbin recommended me the video and two because of your title question.

you really should of mentioned you raised the max wattage for the 3060 ti that is very important to specify or your making people believe it's the default everything for the 3060 ti for people that don't know 200 watts is the max for the gpu but you can raise the wattage up to 220 wattage or something using msi afterburner but obviously that raises temps and technically it is overclocking

That’s how it performs out of the box because it’s the Dual OC version from Asus, which may result in higher power draw vs other models. As I mentioned a few times during the video, I want to undervolt it to preserve power

If you find one priced the same as 3060 ti’s, I’d say the 4060 ti. But I think it could be hard (at least it is here in Canada) so I’d say the 3060 ti. Save some money and only performs 5-8% worse in 1080p

You can get DLSS 3.5 with 30series as well. 3.5 is ray reconstruction which is included in any card above 20 series. If you meant DLSS frame generation then you would need a 40series gpu. Also don't confuse version numbers with the features 3.5 dlss is just the name of the .dlss file you get the newest dlss version always on any rtx gpu the only exclusion of it it is frame generation. @@PVTParts472

@mrstruggle992 I agree. I was actually going to go with the 4070 instead of the 3060 ti although it was $900 here in Canada at the time of purchasing (Nvidia price cuts are happening so now so you could probably pick one up for a decent price)

Not a bad combo but could be a bit more balanced. A 5800x performs similar to the 5900x but roughly $100 cheaper. If you want to max out the AM4 platform the 5800X3D is your answer.

for the newer titles, the 8GB might be a limitation when maxing out the graphics but for the average PC gamer, the 8GB in the 3060 ti can hold off for a little longer bringing in high FPS without completely breaking the bank
