For all of those being so mean to the hawk. It’s not really a fair fight here, both bikes have different rev ranges, made differently, have different transmission gearing etc. the only bike vs bike that can really say anything is a bike vs itself. Because other bikes will be made different. Put the same engine as the Honda in the hawk and then you’ve got a fair fight. Give it a break and go spend the money on an actual Honda instead of getting upset you can only afford a cheap Amazon bike

I have the hawk dlx, I'm an old guy that just likes to put around town (street legal). Works great for that purpose. Not an all out off-road machine, just great for around town and trails. If I was just using it off-road I'd go with a used dirt bike.

I love the videos, but he doesn't really know how to pick a bike to compare the hawk to. Of course the Honda is going to be faster and better, although I have no idea how he got that for 1400$. I can barely find a rusted POS for that cost. The Honda is a true 250cc liquid cooled bike with aluminum frame, while the hawk is a 150cc big bored to a 230cc air cooled with all steel frame. A Honda 230 would have been a better bike to compare.

I just bought a new Trailmaster T5. Very nice dual sport. They had the new Hawk 250 also and they look like they have really improved. Still not up to Japanese standards of quality but much better than a few years ago. The main thing is, the ridiculously low price is why I bought the T5. So for the little bit of money you're getting a decent bike. Getting parts is not an issue anymore. All these powersports shops now have warehouses full of parts of every kind. So yeah I'm not paying 9k for a Japanese dirt bike anymore.

To be fair you should compare it to a new $2,000 Honda. Good luck though because even a CRF110F is $2,600! Better yet, get a good Chinese dirt bike, like the under $4k TM38 300cc water cooled 31hp, 6 speed Trailmaster. What can you get from Honda in that price range today? The closest thing would be an 18hp air cooled CRF230F for $4,350. It would be night and day.

@@thebrokenbolt3990 i cant speak for him, but i also picked up a hawk 250 in 2017 for my first bike. i paid $1300 for it brand new, but had to put it together. i did a bunch of research on the hawk and found out that the motor is actually a honda cb125 clone that has been bored over. the hawk250 itself is a clone of the honda xr125 if memory serves me. the used hondas in my area are going for over twice the price of a hawk 250, and i figured if im going to learn on something and probably mess it up, i want to spend as little as possible.. now having it for over 4 years, i can say its a solid bike. the only thing i had to replace was the speedometer. i went to a digital one that shows the gear you are in and the rpm's when the cable broke on the analog one. i didnt have to replace the rear sprocket, but i went to a lower tooth version so i could cruise at 55mph (speed limits in my area) without revving the bike out too much. i plan on either re-jetting the carb, or replacing it with a better one at some point. you get a lot of bike for the price of these. sorry for bringing this back from the dead, but ive been out riding my hawk (i choose it over the harley some times), and decided to look up some videos on it. its a load of fun.

Bull crap “his brakes are 20 years old that bike started being manufactured in 2004 and it’s 2020 so the brakes can’t be more than 16 years and even if they are that old they need/ should have been replaced. Honda crf250x

I got a Hawk used on line for $500. I had a 2 stroke 125 in my garage had it for years. I did a motor swap. It just kills the guys out at the dunes, on smaller bikes everyone wants to ride it.....

2 different generations of engine design. Comparing it to the older Honda XR series, that the CRF replaced, would be a more realistic comparison.

Great video comparison. CRF250R's can't be touched for under 3k around here now days. Bought a XP Titan on Amazon for 1500 delivered for a farm beater and something for gusts to ride. Yeah it's no Honda or Yami but throwing a $35.00 adjustable carb on the XP really woke it up. Like I always say; a day riding is always a good day even if you are on a moped.

i paid $1300 for my hawk 5 years ago.. still running great with no failures... i can also drive it to the store if i want to 8). i cant find a comparable running used dirt bike for that price anywhere..

Thats a great place to ride im from PA also and ride there. Reading Anthracite beats up any bike, truck, side by side or quad. With out skid plates on my bike i would probably end up with holes in my engine cases from the rocky areas.

I probably wouldn't get it mainly for parts reasons, but.... They have come a Long way. I have had them in the past and no where near this nice.
