Great video. I hope to see more of your experience on what the CRF450RL can do on the MX track. I don't care about winning races, but a do-it-all bike with fewer top-end rebuilds than a dedicated competition bike sounds awesome.

I enjoyed this video! I just got a 450RL and also plan to race it on the track down here in Florida, but it’s primary purpose was to have as a reliable and capable steed to ride with my kids as they grow into faster and more capable bikes.

Thank you for sharing this video! I'm a 35-year-old dad with a CRF450L and this is what I wanted to see. I've been watching your videos ever since I got my bike and you do the type of riding that I like to do. It would be awesome to ride with you someday.

I appreciate the comment because I was really hesitant to post it. In the world of KZbin there are so many people who are actually fast on a bike that you can go watch but then there are the “rest of us” who are just out to have fun at our own pace. Thanks for watching!

Nice. Someday, maybe, I'll get on an MX track.

If you can find a track that has a good national setup vs a bunch of Supercross obstacles I think its totally worth it. Getting to participate in a mini version of what the Pros do is one reason I feel so connected to the sport, more so than football and other sports I played. Someday I need to try something more Enduro related but I don't think you'll ever see me racing over logs or climbing tires 😉

@@DadsDomain Nothing near me that I know of. And my wheelies suck, so no jumping tractor tires for me either. LOL. Now Rally racing, that looks like fun!

This video was made 2 years ago, is there a follow up? I expect the kids are a lot faster now and I hope you are also.

I can't wait till they open up the Supercross track, that's my favorite layout out there.... Maybe we will see you guys out there again soon 🤔 We were going to Seven Mile today but our hot water tank went out in our house 🤦♂️

That sucks! We will be out there a few more times this year. I have been digging out a spot for an above ground pool. Our soil is all rocks and it won’t dig. So I have to till it first to scrape a layer. Etc. found a big piece of old asphalt too. That was fun. Makes you wonder what the builder was doing. All the things that keep us from riding as adults!

How is your lock on grips doing since you had to file the knurling clutch side down. I have pro taper handlebars and I want to add lock on grips to mine.

It’s crazy how big of a difference there is in the two styles of bikes especially ridden in their intended environment
@morganrussell33062 жыл бұрын
got the same bike so just curious, you took off the mirrors and plate and that was it to hit the track?
@DadsDomain2 жыл бұрын
In a nutshell yes and I'm only doing that in case I crash I don't want to bend, break, or get impaled by something. However I increased the spring rates front and rear previously. In general I stiffen the front forks compression by three for aggressive riding and pull them back for normal. I have the rear set where I like it and same for the rebound on the front forks so I stick with only the compression clickers for the track or aggressive riding. Also the stock tires would be sketchy if the track is wet at all and while I'm impressed with the Tusk Dsports they are not in the same league as an actual MX tire. If I had this bike in my 20's I would have cleared every jump and obstacle out there that day. If I road track more often maybe I could again....but to just show up in my 40's with the kids I'm happy enough

Have a question, ive seen most of your videos and im a big dude that's been looking for a dirt bike that its street legal in California and found the RL and I see you change the suspension springs on 1 of the videos, im about 260lbs heavy, you think I can still ride this bike if I get it without having the do any modification like the ones you have done?? Of course with the time I'll be doing all those mods because I can't keep a bike stock, Thank you for your videos I've learn a lot about this bikes
@DadsDomain3 жыл бұрын
If you don't want to jump it the front springs will be just fine. The rear will be up to you though as its sprung pretty light. But for slow trail riding you don't want it too stiff either so I think honestly you'd be fine to just spin it tighter a few times and then see how it goes

Ya people are talking shit about the 450x but with a Exhaust and ecu and desmogg and airbox snorkel remove it’s getting about 2 hp less then the 450r
@Walkeranz3 жыл бұрын
Stock exhaust? Ditch it, you can probably get a lot of other weight off that bike too.

I dont know what to get a crf 150 or yz85
@DadsDomain3 жыл бұрын
Both are great but I have no regrets putting the kids on an 85. Takes more skills to ride fast long term, cheaper to buy and for me cheaper to work on. However the 150r is stainless steel valves and very durable as well. It isn’t easy to decide!
