That title would be misleading as well. One example for a good „trash to energy“ facility: Cologne, Germany, for example has a „trash to energy“ facility, that emits pretty much no harmful chemicals - some (like dioxins) are not detectable in the emissions. It’s corruption that’s the problem here.

I read Singapore burns trash as well but efficiently in terms of minimizing environmental impact. Regulators backed by science should have established the process the right way which I believe Singapore was successful at. If cost cutting is the reason for the failures (which I doubt might be the case) then yes that is wrong.

Ground Reality: im a govt job aspirant living in North Delhi for last 2 years. From last 2 months im a coughing incessantly with no end. Diwali firecracker excerabated the cough. Now i also feel suffocating. After visiting half a dozen doctor in the city with no repsite finally i left delhi for Lucknow which is also polluted but relatively less than Delhi. Delhi is open gas chamber of the world. The AQI is more than 400 every day but the people are so casual as if everything is normal. Nothing to be worry about. Unfortunately this incident made me realize that our 5000 years civilization never taught us hygiene and cleaniness. This is not in our DNA.

But Indians should be made aware about the amount of foreign waste that also ends up in these landfills - something that hardly anyone knows. The fact that the government is turning a blind eye to this issue for the sake of money, and the fact that these well-developed countries are choosing to dump a lot of their trash to countries struggling with waste management is appalling and needs to be talked about.

As I am watching more of this clip, thoughts keep popping in my mind, do you know how they "limit pollution", 😂 by restriction vehicle emmision norms banning diesel cars, old cars, fine the public. I agree it's one of the factors, but is it primary factory, say if they put restrictions on factories how will these people provide employment. Us Indians take our jobs not only on merit but with a pint a poison every time we go to our jobs 😅
