Stocks skyrocketed during election week in the United States. Is this a sign of overconfidence and a imminent market peak?

Post election has seen some serious price movement with most stocks with Tesla leading the charge alongside Cryptocurrency with bitcoin reaching an ATH, presenting an opportunity for investment in the financial market . Would be interested in knowing what happens now after this and if its advisable to stick 200k of my savings into financial markets investing at this time ?

DCAing amongst various assets is a good strategy and can help reduce the impact of market volatility and thus a good strategy if you are looking to compound . However it is important to consider financial advisory when investing .

A lot of folks downplay the role of advlsors until being burnt by their own emotions. I remember couple summers back, after my lengthy divorce, I needed a good boost to help my business stay afloat, hence I researched for licensed advisors and came across someone of utmost qualifications. I love the charts. What I need to say is, no one is adding in how these overlap with real world events and stock valuations. I'm seeing a few dozen channels comparing this to past elections, but past elections had a dip prior to election day, that we did not get. In 2016 and 2020, many stocks were undervalued or fairly valued. So a rally made sense. I was scooping up dividend stocks with 4-5% yields and 12-15 PE. Well, almost no stock is that cheap. Tech is insane. My basket of stocks I like (dow stocks, transport, utilities, materials, banks, etc.) - so many PEs of 30-50 and 2% dividend yields. I see no value in buying and have cash sitting there. I wonder who is left to buy? I mean, to see a stock like TXN with a PE of 40 and barely covering the dividend shooting up last week for no reason was insane. We just got earnings for industrials and many were pretty mediocre so they dropped, now they're rallying, for no reason. I think people need five minutes to evaluate what Trump is actually going to do, and realize he's not the savior they're hoping for.

Warren Buffett is sitting in a pile of cash and warns always be fearful when others are greedy. Chris never mentioned that the SP500 has been up over 32% since October 2023. Harsh pullbacks appear with little forewarnings. Market makers won't stay long in their losing short positions.

My research indicates a strange dichotomy. 1929, Dow $380. 1961, Dow $700. 1972, Dow $1,000, 1997, Dow $8,000, 2006, Dow $12,000, 2017, Dow $20,000. 2018, Dow $26,000. 2019, Dow $27,000. 2020, Dow $28,000. 2021, Dow $30,000, 2022, Dow $35,000. 2023, Dow $37,000. 2024, Dow $38,000 to $42,000. In EVERY one of these years Dow was 18 ounces of gold, zero change in honest measures from 1929 to 2024, 95 years of ZERO change in honest measures. Is this an IOU hoax? Are we being hoaxed with IOUs?

I don't understand your logic. One is a measure of economic activity, i.e. profitability of major corporations. The other is a hedge against inflation and governmental confiscation. What's the connection? Couldn't you just as well compare the price correlation of copper or oil to the DJ?

@@martian9999 Gold is constitutionally honest real money. IOUs are not money. IOUs are "I didn't pay you. I owe you. Trade the IOUs at face value". This is a crime, a theft, selling our children into IOU debt slavery. This crime needs to stop. Using gold as money government can not expand to infinity. We need less waste, less government. That means honest measures, not lying IOUs.

Like to know if anyone has compiled any information regarding storm damage and the effects it has on the markets? This year I would dare to say has been unusual for storm damage. People who would not need to purchase anything for years to come, now find themselves trying to buy a new home, or rent an apartment due to their losses. That means a boost in economic profits because of all those items that are needed to support their way of life once more. I would say that it has a positive effect on the markets.

I think the question should be are we reaching certain risky extremes in, for example, the sp relative to it's 100 week or 200 week? The answer is not yet, but we could get close soon. At that point mean reversion has always kicked in.

SPY 1M. Oct 2014 was a warning shot. It ended a a green bar. Dec 2014 was a long legged doji on high vol. May 2015 peak breached it, but closed below. Aug plunged closed < Dec doji low. Jan 2016 low breached Aug low AND Oct 2014 low. Feb 2016 was a test. Thereafter SPY popped up and the Nasdaq breached 2000 high after 1.5 Y trading range
