Was looking around KZbin to see people’s hands on experience of owning a strut bar and your description of it sounds like it’s worth it even if it’s barely noticeable. I also think the video was nicely made and edited. 👍

Cheers. Honestly apart from sports cars cars that were engineered from the start to not need them, they are probably one of the cheapest mods that have a positive impact on driving you can make. Especially if you can get them 2nd hand. My new 350z has one stock.
@EmmaHopman4 жыл бұрын
this is an actually useful description. I've driven a Lotus Elise and it tracks perfectly where you aim it, and that's a great feeling. I might get one for my miata after my sway bars and lowering springs because they are well known for having bad stock body regitity.
@DarcNoodles4 жыл бұрын
I reckon any and all stiffening in a miata couldn’t be a bad thing due to the lack of roof but to be honest I’ve never driven an open car at pace and so I can’t say for sure if one of these will make as much of an individual difference without other stiffening. Like, as you mentioned, sway bars. And maybe cross braces under the floor.
@jayryan74734 жыл бұрын
This is a few years old but it's still totally relevant. Thanks for the input. Here's what I'm trying to decide: beefier sway bars or strut brace?
@DarcNoodles4 жыл бұрын
That I think comes down the car and how you’re tracking it. While I’m no expert, I reckon sway bars will help if you’re auto crossing though you only see sway bars on drift cars that were originally super long and heavy sedans.
@briankozaki75958 ай бұрын
YES! That is the exact description of what I felt when I added one to my 2021 FK7. It doesn't improve the overall handling but when I run the mountains, it just gives you that solid feel of entry into the turn. Like you said, it makes it fun!

It's nice that you're still replying to an old video. Anyway, just be yourself and everyone's a critic nowadays. Anyways, am planning to get a front strut bar in 2 days time, just wondering on your thoughts should I get a front strut or get front and back strut bar at the same time? Any difference if I get one or both at the same time? Cheers
@DarcNoodles4 жыл бұрын
That is something I’m not sure about. The effectiveness of rear tower bars must be a thing cos most tracked cars I’ve seen use them but how it ‘feels’ is debated more. If the money is there, why not? Hey install them a week apart and see if the change is noticeable.

@@DarcNoodles hrmm, yeah one of my friends who is a car parts dealer told me to just get the front strut bar if am just using it for normal driving. So maybe I'll save some money first by installing the front. Been trying to find some research but cannot find one that says you need both but since my car is FF, getting the front strut bar to help with the understeer. Thanks anyway and all the best in the land of the rising sun!
@DarcNoodles4 жыл бұрын
Kote79 now that you mention it the only cars I’ve seen with the rear are FR and 4WD. It’s entirely possible that FF doesn’t need it as much. Though I will be the first to say I really don’t know much about FF cars. It took a long time to get used to the Alto that I race having the wrong wheels drive the car.

So I broke my strut bar while trying to tow on the lancer,. And it was designed wrong where it rubbed on my intake sensor almost breaking it, so I wasn't a big fan strut bars, and ac lines on my 03 subaru broke by rubbing, and i had to replaced the line. So I've been no longer wanting one.. till I saw your vid. Now I'm back in the scene. I Plan on ordering one for the lancer again and the suby but put some kind of protection wrapp on the sensor or ac lines if they make contact. Thanks for the kool vid

Not sure about the specifics. But it’s possible that the aftermarket knows about this and has designed ones that are less likely to fail in that way. Or failing that. Just get Cusco. Gunma quality that has never let me, or my pro drifter mates down.

how about rear bar 😁
@DarcNoodles7 ай бұрын
That one is car dependent. The hatchbacks seem to benefit from it, but the coupe has a lot of body work there keeping it stiff. I have seen evo guys rocking rear bars too. In the Z it’s all beefed up from the factory there even though it’s a hatch. But yeah unlike the engine bay which is a wide open space between the towers more often than not there is body between the rears. That said when I find the money to rebuild my black s14 I’ll give it a go and make that video. But it’s gonna probably be 10 more years at least.

@@DarcNoodles that's not really making you look any better, just that other people have made it EVEN worse, also i'd suggest putting less of your face, and more of the car in the videos, and choose better music than U.F.O hip hop remix royalty free music. LOL it's not an attack against you, i'm helping you improve. I do not make videos on This channel, or any channel for that matter but i know a fair bit of filmmaking and what's comfortable for the viewer, i just choose not to upload any videos, especially if I wouldn't have anything interesting to say.

_ Beferrr i do appreciate constructive criticism. The comment that started this thread wasn’t and so my response was in kind. That said, is this the only video of mine you’ve watched? You are the first person who has asked to see to see less of my face. Half of the reason I did these was because people wanted more of my face in my videos. Especially the car peeps. But yeah. You may also have noticed that I don’t do these anymore because the effort of shooting my self doing shit detracts from me doing shit. Which is why I have very few vlogs in general. As for the use of free music on my videos. Consider becoming a patron on patreon and tell me you want your contribution to go towards paying for music, Or introduce me to musicians like Manny Marx and Adam Maria who let me use their work in mine and I will gladly not use the low hanging fruit. Right now this is a hobby I do on the side after a full days work, after typical amounts of Japanese unpaid overtime, for a salary that is less than an English Teacher’s. check out my work playlist and give me some criticism there, thorough to be honest everything there is purely restricted by client and company budget... which by production standards. Is nothing. I honestly, most days, don’t want to do shit after work and would rather focus all my free time on going to shows and meets, my photography or playing games instead of making more videos. But I will never forget what my regular subscribers did for me when I had my head injury so for them and the new regulars who have come into the fold since then, I continue to put out what I can.
@befer4 жыл бұрын
@@DarcNoodles that's neat, and No I didn't watch your other videos, About the music, there is just good free music but you just need to pick it better. Like don't pick music that's too Hype or usually considered weird etc. And I get that you don't want to put In the effort, But it's one of those things that take no more effort than you'd be already doing, it's just better that way. You should do more jump cuts as well and maybe write a script or at least have something ready in your mind so you don't stumble on your words etc. It's those easy at things that people don't do but it improves quality immersily. And sorry about your head Injury. That sucks, and overall your story is pretty sad, at least you still have passion for this job
@DarcNoodles4 жыл бұрын
_ Beferrr no to jump cuts. I will only use them if I have no other choice and even then I hate myself for using them. They are a plague that has become the norm thanks to youtube. It’s not editing it’s jarring and if anything is hyped up more than it should be. It’s those godaweful cuts. No. Jump cuts are just. no and I hate that I don’t have the time to shoot enough to ever fully get rid of them here. As for the script. That’s not really possible for these videos because I don’t know what I’m going to say until I’m doing it. I wasn’t making these to inform people of something I knew. I had a few free minutes to put in a part and I may have had a question that I was always wondering about, or was learning to fix a problem real time. If I had a little extra time I put the camera on a tripod and talk through it. But as I mentioned I don’t do these anymore because to make them good takes time and I would rather put the parts in and take a drive in my car than vlog about it. And yeah. The music in this video wasn’t great. Not every video is, but I think you need to watch a few more of my videos in the playlists that I put out more regularly before saying I choose anything because it’s hyped. If there is anything I do not do is what is hyped. Like jump cuts and overly stupid thumbnails/clickbait titles unless I’m sarcastically calling out stupid thumbnails and clickbait in the process. So yeah. Watch a few more and if the music is still an issue we can revisit it.

At road speeds(including spirited driving on the touge) I don’t notice braking specific improvements over stock I can’t be certain isn’t also attributed to other factors too. For me the most notable improvement in braking was when I had good quality tires on the front.

Hello from America! I just purchased one of these for my '15 Kia Cadenza from the k5 optima store. I'm hoping it will also stop that creaking noise in my panoramic moonroof whenever my car's body flexes from bumpy roads and pulling in and out of my driveway. If you'd like I can give you a performance update after it arrives in the mail and i've installed it.

DarcNoodles Just installed it. Pretty simple and only took about 5 minutes. I noticed there's less body flexing when I pull into my steep driveway, I can take corners at higher speeds and the front end stays level and rigid. It soaks up bumps better too. Not a bad upgrade.👍

Awesome! Unless you have an S2000 it seems like this is definitely one of the best easy mods to have. Next I need to try get hold of a rear strut tower bar to see if it helps too. I’ve heard it’s less effective on the silvia at least, because of the structure of the body and chassis.
