A 1mpg improvement in fuel economy could save you over $500 over the next 50k miles at todays gas prices.

The 4.7L V8 4runner is basically a non turbo, heavy all wheel drive supra just waiting to be unlocked 🔓 I own one as well. Also don't go to heavy on the pedal when you launch like that because it will destroy your transfer case. I have replaced mine once. I drive her like James bond would if he stole her 😂. I have Owned 3 different 4 runners now and I plan on keeping and building the one I have into an overlander and buying a tundra for day to day life and work.

I have one aswell and launch it all the time. How much would a transfer case cost?

I have a white 03 4.7L V8 stock except for slightly bigger tires. I get about 13.6-13.9 city mpg depending on how I drive. I subscribed.

IF I get one- I'll do a POWER STOP Brake upgrade....that's about it.

Definitely take a look at MotoIQ’s right up on the 4th Gen 4Runner brake upgrade to the latest 5th gen brakes. I have them with 2” extended SS brake lines and love the feel and have zero fade when coming down the mountain from skiing or off-roading.

I wonder what the difference would be with a throttle controller.
@RAPauto

The Unichip allows you to modify the throttle map (throttle position signal input/output). Still working on making an optimal map for the 4Runner that will capture this.

Why the oversized brakes--?I own a 2004 4-runner!
@RAPauto

Toyota had a factory “upgrade” the upsides everything to the Tundra brakes I believe. If you are looking for OEM brake upgrade look into MotoIQs write up on the 5th gen conversion.

@@RAPauto. Thank you! I see rust in my 4 runner undercarriage rust- is there a solution?
@RAPauto
@RAPauto Жыл бұрын
There are many options. The stuff I use personally and on customer cars is Rustoleum Chassis Enamel. You can pick it up at Wal-Mart anywhere from $8-12 bucks. You do have to prep the surface you are painting but it gives a solid gloss finish that has been durable on suspension components I have painted. Makes it look new!

The 1GR-FE found in the 4runner and other Toyota products is robust and reliable. It is down atleast 50 lb-ft at the torque peak when compared to the 2UZ and will seem underpowered everywhere except redline. Pros are better gas mileage and superchargers are available for them. They will last a long time but don't seem to go as long as the 2UZ (250K+ miles).

I’m curious if the vvti would be faster
@RAPauto
@RAPauto Жыл бұрын
I would assume it would be. It has a higher redline, makes 50ish more peak HP and 20ish more lb-ft of torque. I am hoping to compare in the future!

I will have a video coming out on how the Unichip did with some basic bolt-ons. That will answer your question in detail. Short answer: Yes.
