I once lived in Albany from 1981 to 1984 coming from Miami Florida. We returned to Miami in the latter part of 84 but Albany had become a place that I had come to love and enjoy. It really saddens me and breaks my heart to see videos of this kind of a place that was really thriving at one point.🤦🏽‍♂️ I really wish that it could return back to the golden days.

If Albany Ga has any real history it is that of crime beginning as far back as the Radium Springs Casino where the level of crime was such that it drew criminals like Al Capone as he traveled from up north to Fla when US19 was the pipeline from the far north to Fla before I-75 was built. Crime with county/city government officials allowing places like the Superior Crack Lodge right across from the "Family" wal-mart to stay open year after year where drugs of all types, prostitution of teen age kids, crimes of many types to go on while the city sits and watches possibly because they have some type of stake in the business?? Albany, "The Crime Life City" is the perfect place to live...if you're a crook!!! Drive by/random gang shootings killing people to include kids sleeping in their own houses. It's the Wild, Wild West here where no part of town is safe, night or day. Economy? Great for criminals. The city has ran off most of the big businesses that were here and that list is a long one that keeps on growing. Keep you and your family safe and stay as far away from Albany Ga as you can get. It breaks my heart being born and raised here but the truth often times does.

I was stationed there in the 1960’s at what was then called the Marine Corps Supply Center. The base itself was fully integrated. But outside it was old school segregation at its worse. Black Marines could not used so called white facilities, hotels, restaurants and other facilities in town. Despite the fact that they had been or were to going Vietnam.

I don't doubt that, but we have to use the numbers we are given and those are what the FBI has released.

Albany was once a nice place, once the culture change started the whites left to go to Lee County.

@@blkmale160 As well as the people that build and maintain a safe and civilized society. I guess it's only a matter of time before a certain culture starts demanding to be a part of what another culture built.

The only demographic that changed was poor and unemployed when most of the manufacturing left for cheap labor in Mexio and China in the 80s and 90s. The only thing that replaced it was a crack epidemic . The culture that's left are the people left in the surrounding county . Eventually most leave because there are no real job opportunities if they are not a part of the good ole boy or homeboy network at P&G , Miller government or schools . The demographics you're trying to insult generally go pretty far and do well in the real world

@@blkmale160 The culture I'm talking about does not do well, they blame another race for their failure, refuse to take accountability for their actions and bring crime and violence to whatever society they live in. This is not just in Albany, it's around the world.

Curious how much of this extremely high crime level is due to, or "explained by" demographics. Also, the color-coded county map of crime rates, where the narrator says the darker blue areas have the higher crime, seems backwards. Downtown is white, light, and the rural areas are darker.

The downtown area has been majority nonwhite for decades, as far as the people that live there.
