IS ALOY GOOD OR NOT? - F2P FRIENDLY - Genshin Impact

Hi friends! Thanks for watching my video. Let me address many of the popular misconceptions in the comments as I feel many of you are trying to rationalize she can be good (and she cannot). Read below... 1. The latest team comp was one of many I tested to try and boost her damage. Having more Crit Rate by running Freeze comp will not increase the numbers you see in the video, it will just make them more common. All her numbers are low and I had some of the best stats you can run (235% CDMG, 90% Cryo DMG, ~2000 ATK). 2. You cannot reliably "group up" her bombs with Anemo characters because there is a 0.1 second internal cooldown on gaining Coil stacks, which means you will only trigger her Cryo infusion some of the time. Worse, even when triggered, the damage on her Cryo infusion is still incredibly low - see the video where I am using an R5 5-star weapon. 3. 6/6/6 is a valid test for talents. You are not going to gain some whopping 200% damage from going to 8/8/8 or 10/10/10. This is just pure COPIUM. 4. *Any team comp you come up with to make her "viable" Chong Yun can likely do better.* Kaeya too, maybe. Both 4-stars. 5. The excuse Aloy is "free" as a rationale for her being weak is garbage. We've gotten Fischl, Beidou, Xiangling, etc for free and none of those characters are this bad. If I improve her output using Bennett and Kazuha, then you probably rage over "this is just showing Bennett and Kazuha" and if I show her by herself, then it's "she has no role in your video." You can't build her physical because if she accidentally gets 4 Coil stacks you now deal zero damage and need to be rotated out. You seem determined to be unhappy with me - sorry then I can't help you.

@@patrickH206 Thx for constructive comment! Honestly, my feeling was no reason to spend a lot of time on a character that isn't viable and the base output speaks for itself. I definitely underestimated how many people would try to defend her - a damage character that cannot break 100K elemental burst damage or 10K normal attack damage with an R5 weapon and no buffs is fairly obviously bad. Testing your 1,2,3 would not change that even if the tests turned out favorable.

Use Kazuha or Sucrose to suck in the coils then switch back to her for the Cryo autos. Her E is Nishe but remember guys Genshin is a Team game no one is run solo. Teammantes are there to cover certain weaknesses of the characters you have. As for the numbers,i think itll be better to run her on a Melt comp. Especially when that new Cryo set is released.

I feel like a constellation that allows Aloy to detonate the mini bombs would allow for more consistent Cryo Infuse uptime. Reactivate E to detonate deal or even shoot burst and the mini bombs would explode at the same time. Those gameplay mechanics can really make or break Aloy. I was excited to get a free 5 star archer who I thought could use my Amos but it’s going to stay benched until Mihoyo changes Aloy or I am lucky enough to get Ganyu.

Even with that, that's not really the point. She deals weakass damage, with or without infusion, and that is the point of this video. Just look at his investment on Aloy, and all she does is petty sub 10k damage? As far as I'm concerned, anyone who invested this much and didn't get a significant return has all the rights to get mad. He's just saving some players, like me, who thought of investing in Aloy was a good idea. Now if people still wanna invest in Aloy, then fuck it. Go ahead, it's their resources anyway.

@@faultline3936 You're right about her being incredibly underwhelming. I actually invested on her enough so that I could make her a burst dps and she does decent in that role. I feel like Aloy is just a test for Mihoyo to gauge how a collab character can perform compared to those who are actually in the game. Constellations are the easiest way to solve the issues she has I believe. She is a mixture of too many characters fitted with a niche that makes her inconsistent. If they go the Yoimiya route make her infuse autos easily then a consti helps or even make it that their internal timer after getting four stacks triggers when she is activated on field. A reverse melt Yoimiya sounds fun to play since Xiangling's ult reaches farther than Kaeya's.

There is a cool down on how often the coils can trigger so if you group them and they go off at the same time you only get one stack, making the grouping useless for building coil stacks.

I use kazuha to suck enemies and bombs AND opponents. Pretty much constant up-time. I dunno, I was hoping for a build video, but as a character, I'm very happy with her as a DPS. Building her is challenging because spectres suck, but even half-built, she's abusing enemies in my perma-freeze comp.

I've leveled her up to 90 and tried grouping her bomb using sucrose/jean or at least made them closer but ths ICD together with her very low base atk is so bad. You guys can imagine all you want, I'd like to see you try and invest in her too just to see that you don't need her in your team. edit: you can use her as quick swap burst in your team. she's actually good cryo AoE applicator.

I will agree that aloy is extremely weak, 4 stars can do better cryo dmg, i compared her to my chongyun with same artifacts(2 set blizzard, 2 set noblesse) Both lvl 60 and aloy has burst lvl 2, chongyun has lvl 1 she does 8k, he does 10k in total. She used a lvl 70 rust, he a lvl 70 prototype archaic. I will still build aloy a bit cuz she can be usefull in a freeze team for me as i have an r5 favonious

The right team could probably make her shine but that's true for basically every character so it's a little bitter for our first free "5 star". She really needs some good constellations and hopefully since she has a constellation tab mihoyo will eventually give them to us.

Thanks for this guide, and for expending the resources to test her. Even if you use Sucrose or Jean to group the bombs, they can't add coil stacks at the same time. They have to activate .1 seconds apart. So sad that her design is this confused.

I think you need to run her with an anemo support that can suck up the bombs onto the enemies to immediately get the coil stacks up. Maybe use Sucrose and run Aloy in a reverse melt comp and you'd take advantage of the EM buffs as well

I have her too, just launched ps version to get her and the bow, was a bit hyped, hoping her kit was a bit more support friendly, but like you were saying, she's kinda all over the place. Not to mention I didn't notice the blue text on her bow, "Predater" it has a blue text that I didn't pay attention to, "I blame the hype, but... was my oops" It only gives the 66 Atk boost to her IF you are on the playstation network, so to the f2p people, be wary of this when building her.

I just user her in a quick swap team. Burst costs 40. Her Elemental Skill gives tons of particles so she's a good battery. Coil seems unintuitive though. I just leveled her up to 70 and use her as a battery for Ayaka lol

I agree that free characters should be weaker than gacha characters, but I honestly agree with Lion on this one. Characters should either be flexible and be weaker in each role or be specialized and be stronger in that one role. It feels like Mihoyo is trying to make her flexible, by giving infusion AND Burst... So it's expected both her infusion and Burst would be weaker (because it's "flex"). But because it's so difficult to infuse, her infusion is basically useless, and what remains is just a weak Burst. Releasing a weak character is fine. Releasing a character whose design just feels "broke", looks really bad for Miyoho.

​@@presence5692 I feel like it's a pretty standard practice for items that require luck to be better than "initial/free" items. Spending limited resources and getting items worse than what you got for free won't lead to a great gacha experience. I understand that mihoyo technically can release free good-but-niche characters, but that's just something I don't expect from them. The "incentive" just isn't there. The more "popular" a game is, the smaller the incentive to give tons of free stuff. Of course, you're free to think mihoyo are acting entitled, just because they're popular, and you can absolutely switch to less popular games, which are going to be more generous on their "promotions", but then you'll be playing games working with a considerably lower budget. That said, Keaya and Xiangling are free unit and they're pretty great. Fishl and Beidou were also given in events for free and they're great as well. Anemo, Geo and Electro MC, Lisa and Amber all feel like they're "placeholder" characters.

Do you know what the deal was between Mihoyo and HZD to make Aloy a character on Genshin? I doubt Mihoyo pays anything to HZD. Some of my friends suspect HZD paid to Mihoyo but not enough to make them want to make her good. Her being good means less people pulling (and paying for) Ganyu rerun etc.

i am currently using her as Spam burst and i can assure you can go Atk sands with Sacrificial and u can instantly get your Burst after hitting 1 enemy with 2 e skills because her burst energy cost is just 40 like Albedo

Yes, that's probably how you have to play her I reckon as it's too inconsistent to get stacks otherwise (although there is an ICD on coil stack building too). But that still doesn't change the fact that she's not great though

Your attack could be higher realistically, and after reading some comments of you saying anemo supports don't make it easier cause of the 0.1s cooldown, I can agree and disagree. I would not really recommend aloy without kazuha, but if you put his vortex down first it will suck the bombs in sort of like a single file line, allowing the delay to occur.

Yeah, ngl. She doesn't look like a good main dps. Although as an ult bot with maybe a sac bow and melt 2 of her E's and burst she might have a chance in a swap team. Just forget her infusion mechanic since it's clearly not worth the effort. Aloy, as a burst bot in a Hu tao/Diluc team be might be good. Or in a mono Pyro team where she's almost always guaranteed to melt every E or Q.

If you want her as a burst bot... Just remember her burst is a glorified single Ganyu charged shot, or even weaker at higher investments. A "real" 5 star's normal attack with no cooldowns attached is better than a "f2p" 5 star's ultimate.

Every character is good. It just depends on the gear and the team and how the skills of the team synergize. Genshin Impact is not on of those gatcha games where the newest character is always the best and strongest.

Thank you! That was how I viewed the video too; I didn't realize how many hoops people would want me to jump through. She has unobtainable for 99% of players great gear on and is hitting for incredibly low numbers across her entire kit. After that, it's up to you to decide if you want to invest some mora/level up materials. You won't always have the cryo-infusion after every skill, and that's okay. It can give you time to change party members for the needed support, and I think it was designed this way. Aloy's base atk is more comparable to 4-star units, so yes numbers and scaling aren't that high. However, since both her skill and burst have a single hit aoe, this could imply that every use of her abilities should cause a Reverse Melt Reaction to further increase that damage. Since she is also a advertised as a free 5-star crossover unit, I'm guessing Mihoyo chose to give her both main dps potential (for new incoming players) and nuke burst dps potential (for veterans). Making her not the best in any world, which is what we get for her being a free character. I believe this is also the philosophy for the PS4-exclusive weapons, just good starter weapons, not competitive with end-game. It takes some practice in activating Rushing Ice. I noticed aiming for ranged mobs or flying mobs worked well, since they are either surrounded by running mobs or they fall. Only use Anemo cc when Aloy reaches coil stack 3, since there needs to be a coil stack delay. When your coil stack doesn't reach 4, then your next skill will. So use all your buffs and debuffs beforehand to maximize the use of cryo-infused arrow, and finally fire a burst before Rushing Ice ends to take advantage of that sweet sweet Cryo dmg bonus.

Her playstyle is different, her attacks are fast for a bow user , by leaving the bomb and swap with Barbara then if the bow is infused frozen infliction. She's good you don't know her playstyle

Wow. She is literally like a worse Yoimyia, which is bad to start with. Don't get me wrong...I have Yoi and I enjoy playing her, but she has some serious synergy issues in her kit...and Aloy is worse with the requirements on her E. The Bombs really need to auto drift towards targets. Klee could really benefit from this as well. Bombs in this game just really suck right now. I was actually looking forward to this toon. Not because she was free, but honestly I liked her look and I like bow users, If she had a good kit I would have even been willing to roll for her. But no...instead we literally get a toon that's worse then 2 of the 4* that she competes with...I think that Amber may actually do better damage, and Chong of course already does what she does and better

There's an attack buff every time a bomb is stepped on and the cryo infusion is the last one after the 4th one is stepped on so so having 4 coils is not imperative and even so placing the bombs and then waiting for an enemy to step on them is really not a smart thing to do since you can use sucrose, kazuha, jean or any crowd control character to pick up the bombs. Hoping for a cryo infusion and then just mindlessly shooting is not the way.

That's a 3* character in disguise why her background is red. jk They probably will buff her by giving constellations from some events when it drops on PC. my guess is they should at least on her E instantly gains the cryo infusion like Yoimiya BUT. 1. The Cryo bombs will increase the duration every time mobs stepped on it. 2. IT shouldn't be that much of a buff since her cryo infusion is ngl. kinda copium to begin with so this shouldn't be an issue to buff her with that. 3. Her Burst should gain extra damage dealt for every stackked the bomb has been stepped on. BASICALLY Make her whole kit revolve on her E Stacking bombs stepped on to boost her cryo infusion duration + her Burst damage to deal more consistent and smooth gameplay. Honestly though. I still think she's crap the moment I saw that she doesn't have line traps. like in HZD. that would have been a lot more cooler. Cryo Line traps where when mobs walks on it they are slowed and take reduced cryo resistance. and her burst deals decent damage and infuses her basic attacks. Like in the game but nah they made her with this bomb thingy.. idk. I dislike it. using her in HZD you usually would be using a lot of traps and the ARROWS.. like damn I was hoping we can use her like a neutral element and be able to use Fire Arrows Freeze, Lightning or the Shockwave arrows. but sad.

Even for a free character she looks underwhelming asf. Mihoyo seems to be really stingy when it comes to new releases both free and premium characters ( Looking at you Yoimiya and Electro MC ). Naturally new characters in ither games would improve from their older counter parts ( Like Aloy would be a better unit than chongyun or kaeya if this was in another game company, but nope this is Mihoyo ). Pretty weird tbh becuz other character releases in Honkai impact will always offer better results than previous characters ( Yes both Free and expensive characters ). Honkai belongs to the same company as genhsin so I am kinda bummed about how genshin team designs characters. It's as if the genius ppl at Mihoyo that knows how to create good characters are all in honkai department :/

This is what I think aloy mite need its just something I came up with on the spot C1- doubles the cryo duration C2- increase crit damage of ultimate C3- level up C4- ultimate lowers attack/movement speed hit by the mist( duration 6 sec) left by the ultimate that last 10 sec C5- level up C6- each coil stack gives normal and ultimate a damage boost 10% per stack for 10sec each can stack

If you decide to level her, ATK% or ER Sands (EM if just for Skill/Burst rotation then out with Pyro), Cryo Dmg Goblet, Crit or CDMG Circlet depending on your weapon and substat rolls.
