I purchased an extended warranty from your buddy Jim... new engines or engine rebuilds plus labor is ridiculous. My 2020 trike had bad lifters that ate the cam. That was at 8000 miles costing $1600. 500 miles later it sumped and blew the engine. $8500-14000 to repair. I elected to trade it in and purchase a new HD. This time with an extended warranty through Jim at $1350. Well worth the cost. To each his own.

I bought my 2017 CVO street glide with 8,800 miles a year ago from a dealership in Nashville TN. They delivered the bike and was stoked over this bike! I ride it 100 miles and the crank let loose on my way home and started knocking. If not for the extended Harley Davidson warranty I would have been out $7,000 dollars for a new motor. Bad side is I have to use all Harley parts for performance add ONS.

I was reading where some of the Harley engines had a crappy pressed crankshaft and some had the better welded crankshafts. I would make damn sure they didn’t put one of the pressed cranks in my new engine.

Got 1, because of the M8 issues. Now I work out of town a lot and it doesn't get miles on it like my other bikes, I've had in the past. Plus, on short rides I jump on my Panhead. In my situation, I wish I had not gotten the extended warranty. Good video.

Here's my story.... I was new to HD when I bought my new 2010 Ultra Limited so I got the extend coverage and when that lapsed I got it covered again for another 5 years... in the mean time it covered a new radio, 3 compensators, stator/voltage regulator, 3 different shift shaft o rings, front/rear wheel bearings, both rocker box gaskets and something else just before the coverage ran out that I can't remember what it was..... my bike currently has 98k+ miles so I think I'm money ahead but I did check out another company that would extend coverage on my bike for another 5 years IF I got coverage before the current one ran out and after some disscuions by email and phone and for the amount of $$$ they wanted and the items that were/were not covered I'm self insuring for now.. BTW.... keep up the videos!!!!!!

Another great information video from DK Custom. Got a real custom Trike so every time I ride this thing at least one person even it the rain is out side to speak to me about the mods on it. You tube DK Custom is the first words off my lips. Here in NC not a lot of older folks have any idea until then, that good honest free information is on your site. I have Harley's ESP and I must say that the Trip Interruption is the most underspoken value of the plan that alone. The fact you will be taken care of. $150 per day (up to $450 maximum) per occurrence for meals and lodging if your road trip is interrupted by a covered breakdown. $75 per day (up to $750 maximum) for rental vehicle charges after a covered breakdown. Priceless!!!

@@QCHockeyFan Yes I've used it. Twice. Both times away from home on a trip. For different issues. One was about 300 miles from home ( broken rear cyl. exhaust valve spring.) Only used rented a car in that instance. And the other for losing thrid gear. This one half way across the countryside, Daytona Bike Week. Thing is, I'm not a gentle rider. Or at least with that bike I wasn't. Everything was harley branded. It was a 2018 Ultra Limited Stage IV kit installed by harley-davidson with 2yr manufacturer warranty plus 5 yr ESP plan. Only 50 Dollars out of pocket total out of pocket in both instances, one inside factory and one in ESP. When you on a trip, breakdowns are not a budget thing. Having being back by this IS A GAME CHANGER. I did have to have some kind of roadside assistance. Which was covered by my insurance company to get my bike to a shop. After diagnosis if they can't fix it and get you back on the road beacause of not having a part in stock. Tell them your traveling and you'll get hooked up for what you need at that moment. Completely putting you a ease. Sure it sucks being broke down but it feels better when the motor company completely have you covered. Meals and such have to be reimbursed just keep your receipts. Yeah it cost me some coin but looking at it now. I got my money's worth just in parts and labor. Also those were just the big ticket items. Everything done to this bike I had done before the first 60 days which made everything covered 7 years unlimited miles.

First time I ever bought an extended warranty on anything. A 3 year extended warranty never used it in 35,000 miles. Would never buy an extended warranty again. Bought the bike new a 2016 Street Glide 103 Twin Cam it was a wasted $1800 dollars. Getting ready to do a 40,000 mile oil change and the bike runs great still no problems knock on wood.

I bought the extended warranty when I got my bike in 2014, it was around $1400 if I remember right. Only time I used the warranty when the fuel pump failed around 1200 miles due to bad gas (had a LOT of water in it) and I rode 9000mi a year for the first 3 years of owning the bike. I probably lost a little as the original warranty would’ve covered me, but the peace of mind was worth it to me as a young cash strapped man who really shouldn’t have been on a brand new Harley. Now that it’s out of warranty if I have major engine failure I’ll just build it. That said, I won’t be buying additional warranty coverage on any other purchases.

I have it on mine. Haven't needed it yet but if I do it's good insurance. Harleys get expensive quick when they break. An electrical gremlin can break your wallet. I saw a guy I know pass on the ESP and 1500 miles later his rod started knocking. $7K out of his wallet.

I’ve never looked into Harley Davidson’s warranty. I’m certain it’s an insurance policy they use for it but I think it’s their warranty. Meaning it’s factory (manufacturer backed) warranty. I would never purchase a warranty on any motor vehicle that is not factory backed or what is called 3rd party. I have seen too many bad reviews about third party warranty programs to ever purchase one. Maybe someone on here has had different luck. I would love to hear of a reputable company that is good. I have only ever purchased 1 new motorcycle and I was young and couldn’t afford the warranty on top of buying the bike. Lol. Good information here. I do like the idea of trip interruptions covered by the Harley warranty. However that will be for my retirement bike. Ride safe all.

2021 FLHTK, I wasted $4k on an under performing SE 122 kit trying to stay warranty compliant. Spent another $7200. doing a SE 131 kit, aftermarket cam, tuner, exhaust. Also did man o war comp and G3 carbonite clutch. Went in for 5k service. Tech noticed rear shift shaft seal leak, big $$$. Removed all my aftermarket drive components, cracked the case, fixed it, back together, no questions asked! Nice! HD shop did not plug my bike in, still not flagged for the tuner. Honestly I question whether my bike is still a Harley with what I have replaced. Forgot to add great video!

Buddy bought a used 2016 StreetBob from Harley dealer that was out of factory warranty, he was suckered into a 3rd party warranty for over $600 that required ALL services to be done at Harley including basic 3 hole oil change. Harley's price for oil change.. $350

I ride around 7000 miles a year I bought a used bike in 2019 bought extended Harley warranty went to Sturgis that year broke down in Sturgis cost 50 dollars on a five hundred bill two years later bought another 2 year warranty 31000 on bike broke down in September cost thousands to fix only cost me 50 deductible if I didn’t have warranty I couldn’t afford to get it fixed

Warranty on most after market products are not covered. But usually the dealership will work with you if it's installed by the dealer. But I'm one of the non believers in extended warranty purchase. It's a gamble. But so far I have had no problems with the bikes or trucks that I've had.

One thing about the Harley warranty is it is usually sold when the bike is sold. The new bike has a three year warranty. The warranty company now has your money for three years and wont be paying out.

And then of course the Vance & Hines two into one exhaust, the Moto hooligan air intake, and the Dino jet power vision. I’m guessing that if I popped that engine did they probably would not cover that, lol, they would say I was out dragracing it or something.

The three main things I want to do to it is put a native customs fat tire kit on it which will put a 180 mm tire on the front, I would like to get a stage III upgrade which would go from my 114 up to the 122. And I want to get 18 inch Carlini gangster up hangers. I’m thinking most items are going to be on the not covered list with that. I don’t feel like the remaining five months of the factory warranty is worth using for toilet paper, so I’m going to get started on those mods immediately.

@@gpcbr1000 You may be surprised. I did not see anything in the 2020 Road King list that would not be covered by a good ESP. They only thing in your V Rod list that might not be covered is the air suspension. You should give Jim Palmer a call...does not cost anything to ask him.

I think being that I am on the con side of the argument. I almost want to say that is a generational thing. What the younger generation has experience with warranty’s Is not what it used to be. So we are automatically sketchy about putting our faith in a warranty. Can I say the younger generation meaning I’m 46 years old. I probably come in right between you two guys. Plus a major factor is I also work on 80 %of my own stuff. Yes, the wiring can get sketchy but not having to foot the mechanics Bill saves a boatload of money in the weight of whether you want a warranty or not

I bought a 2013 Street Bob in June this year with 1,259 miles on it. They shoved the ESP on me hard. It was $2000 for 2 years of coverage. I decided to cancel it after 3 months. Went to the dealer, talked to finance dept. they did the paperwork and said I would get a refund in the mail in 4 to 7 days of $1700. Well, after 2 weeks and no refund I was about to call the dealership when a letter came in the mail from the warranty insurance company. It said I would receive a refund 40 days after the date on the letter. So far it’s been about a month and now another month of waiting. So I have been paying interest on that $2000 for about 2 months total. Shouldn’t have to do that. I want to pay the bike off, but the payoff amount goes up daily and is costing me more money daily because of the delay in getting the warranty refund. I only ride about 1,000 miles a year and don’t believe the warranty is worth the cost to me, and I would never let them add another one to any bike I bought. If they don’t know how the cancellation process works I bet I would have hard time getting them to cover a warranty covered. Issue.

I do all my own work to the point of completely rebuilding it any Harley has screwed up my bike every time the worked on it and I had to do it my self so I only buy parts PS I have all the tools for all big twins evo’ sportster and twin cams and I buy cheep as is where is bikes

My warranty company is losing money big-time. My 2019 Road King has been in the shop three years running with major engine transmission repair if I was in the warranty business I would be out of money as we speak😂😂😂😂😂 27,000 miles we’re not talking about a lot of miles here and it doesn’t take a lot of miles on a new Harley to end up with a very sizable repair bill. In my opinion, if you do not have a money tree in your backyard and or you are a very skilled Harley Davidson mechanic, you better have an extended warranty covering the complete bank bill until said bike is paid for and it’s free to sell🤪🤪🤪

Great info guys. Just bought a new 21 Tri Glide and I didn’t get a extended warranty but I do have a full year to add one from my dealership. In addition it came with a 2 year warranty so I can decide if I want to add on before the first year is up. Thanks for the info and take care and have a great Christmas and New Year. get the warranty at the end from the same dealer if you can. I have a tri glide 2019 with the first 131 big bore in it. keep a warranty dealer will let you know when factory work needs to be done quick because they know labor is paid for up front. ride safe.

Why does a Trailer hitch void a warranty

HD has always (at least for many decades) had the policy. There is more load on the drive train, and more stress on the chassis, when pulling a trailer. Things will wear out faster, so this reduces their warranty claims.

I think it matters as to what Modifications you have done or plan to do to your bike. Harley Warranty isn't going to help with the cost of any non-Harley modifications. Extended warranty is a waste of money, I bought it with my first HD, when I needed it and called the 1-800 # all I got was the accounting dept, what a bloody run around, I ended up calling a tow truck and that cost me. HD rips you off.

Thanks for the comment....there are a lot that agree with you. There are alternatives to the HD extended warranty, like in this video- kzbin.info/www/bejne/pmm4ZYupfd51q8k that many folks have had pay off many times over the cost. Some have had good experience with the HD also, although less in the last 4 years. Check out some of the comments in this video...there are quite a few that have seen the benefit of an extended ESP.

if you have the DK kit installed by the dealer it is covered by the labor warranty.

Yes, depends on tech or SM. If you have any doubts about them, just remove it before taking it in for any work, and put it back on when you get it back.

Devin has only been in a couple of videos, and that was just in passing. Just yesterday he and I were talking that come 2022 we need to start doing some videos together. In the videos that we shoot next week, when we have the dyno for three days, he will definitely be in some/most of those. But come next year, we will sit down and do some vids together. WWW.DISCOUNTESP.COM I called Wally and asked him if I could get more warranty once my five year extended runs out, he told me as long as the bike was under 100,000 miles they figure something out and sell me a warranty? Now where in the world have you ever heard that? Where are you can buy an extended warranty on your extended warranty? And it’s pretty bad that that new Harley is the only thing I’ve ever purchased that actually warrants buying it. What a crying shame the this so-called “Premium Brand” doesn’t include an engine/transmission worthy of that title.
