Chris. When I purchased my 2019 GW DCT Tour you gave me the Blue Ridge information. That was a year and a half ago. Where I purchased the bike they were asking close to $1400 for the 5 years. I want to Carter and she did as you outlined, offered a price in the $700 range. I opted for no Road Side Assistance as I have that for $45 a year from GWRRA. Took the 5 years as a value added incentive for the next owner. From that savings I then went on to purchased your Videos, which then were a great price with the forever updates. Both the best deals I've paid for out of my Just for Me, budget account LOL. The videos saved me another $2,000 in labor for far doing my own maintenance and using your guidance for the accessory installs. That money went to paying off the bike much earlier. I read the fine print and on the 2018+ they no longer cover the nav/radio. That alone would be a $3000+ repair. Already had mine replaced under the original warranty.

Cruiseman, I viewed your video and sent Blue Ridge Power Sports an inquiry last night. Carter emailed me this morning with pricing for 5 years w/ towing. What a lovely young lady. The local dealer where I purchased my 2020 Tour DCT quoted $1350 for the exact same warranty I just paid $770 for. $60 for 5 years of roadside assistance / towing? No brainer of the week. Couldn't agree more regarding third party warranties. Takes rip off to a new level in many cases. I realize I could have waited, with the only risk being price increase going forward. I chose to take care of it now. Thanks Cruiseman. I saved myself just under $600. Unreal.

Ok, here is my personal experience and why I would not buy the Honda Extended warranty. I bought an extended warranty for my 2005 GL1800. When I got home, I noticed the dealer sold me a "3rd Party" warranty. I was upset and went back to the dealer to complain because they didn't even give me the option for the HondaCare warranty. The salesman took me in the office and pulled out both warranties and showed me that after the original Honda warranty expired, that the HondaCare warranty did not cover gaskets and seals. So if after 3 years, my bike needed repairs, I had to pay for that stuff, or if it started leaking oil, I was on my own. The 3rd party warranty covered this. The Honda was was good, but didn't cover everything. They didn't even offer the HondaCare warranty unless you specifically asked for it. Some will say that they make more profit on it, but I look at what it covers. So then after about 4 years, my 05 GL1800 had to have the engine removed twice. Yes, twice! The first time was for a bearing going out on the rear engine cover, and the second time was the reverse gears were not aligning and I could not get it into reverse anymore. Each time the engine was out, the repair order I signed showed the cost well over $3,000.00. So when I went to buy my 2018 Tour DCT warranty the dealer showed me in the HondaCare Warranty that they do not cover Audio and Navigation equipment. If there is a repair it also says it does not cover coolant, gaskets, engine oil, and other "Expendable" items. They will pay for the repair, major parts and labor, but they make you pay for these other things that should be included. It says that plain as day. You know how expensive all of the electronics are on the new Goldwing, I don't want to have to pay for that stuff if something starts acting up or quits, that is why I bought the extended warranty. The warranty I have now is Aegis Insurance, and they cover all of this stuff. My last warranty saved me a ton of money, and I just hope I don't need to use this one. Some say it's a gamble, but I say it is piece of mind.

Last March, when I purchased my 2020 Gold Wing, I went ahead and just purchased it from my dealer because I had the extra money at the time. Who knows what financial situation I will be in in years 3 - 6, if I had a major breakdown. No regrets!

I agree 100 percent about avoiding third party extended warranties. I purchased a Road Hazard Warranty from my Yamaha dealership last summer when I purchased my 2020 Yamaha VMAX. That was a BIG MISTAKE. The company is Nation Safe Drivers (NSD), and they denied my recent claim when I experienced a nail in my rear tire. According to reviews on YELP and the Better Business Bureau, NSD is notorious for denying claims. I paid $500 at the dealership for this warranty and NSD is refusing to pay the $300 for my new tire. I was clearly ripped off. I don't know who to blame more: NSD or the dealership. The dealership clearly makes money from selling these products, but surely they must have gotten feedback about how lousy NSD is. I will call that dealership tomorrow and let them know my experience and request a refund. What a scam company NSD is. Never again will I buy a third party warranty of any kind.

Hey, thanks for the info on the extended warranty. I just purchased the white 2018 Goldwing and it only had 2 weeks left on the factory warranty. I went ahead and bought the 48 mos ext warranty and the 48 mos tire and wheel replacement program, it all came out to only $1015. The only thing you may want to change or update is the contact person at Blue Ridge. Carter got promoted and Chloe Horst is now the new person in charge of ext warranties. She was super nice and helpful!! Thanks again for your videos

I just bought the 5-year Honda extended warranty plus roadside assistance for $770 from Blue Ridge PowerSports, thanks to this forum! It seems that Carter has moved up in the organization, but Chloe Horst was able to assist me. I'm doubtful that I'll really need this warranty, but I think it's worth it for the peace of mind given the inherent complexity of this machine (and the relative newness of my 2019 DCT Touring model). If I do sell it, I think a buyer will really appreciate having a full warranty also. My 3-year original warranty expires in October...

I opted for the 5 year plan w/o RS assistance, as I have that on my auto policy. The plan through Blue Ridge was $700. Carter's not doing this anymore as she was promoted to another department. Doesn't matter, you get the same deal from the new person. BR was great to work with. I figured a bike as complex as this bike is must have the extended plan. One failure could pay for the plan, and even if the bike has no failures, the peace of mind will be well worth $700...

My 2020 is only 7 weeks old so I don't have an extended warranty yet. Believe it or not, my dealer told me about it but suggested I not purchase it yet! They actually told me to shop around in 2 1/2 or 3 years. From various blogs, I have already heard about Blue Ridge is the cheapest there is and I'll be contacting them when it is time. AMA membership includes roadside assistance. If you aren't a member, you should definitely consider it. My wife has used the coverage for car trouble and it was great. If you ride, you should be a member to support all they do for motorcyclists.

I purchased the Honda Care warranty. It goes into effect this month, as my factory warranty expires. It has no towing (I get that from my insurer) and has a zero deductible. It lasts five years. It cost $585.00. I was quoted over $1.200. from the dealer when I bought the bike. Shop around.

I went with the Honda roadside assistance as they will tow to the nearest HONDA dealer no matter the mileage. Most and I can't speak for others, usually have a mileage limitation and you pay a mileage fee over say 35 miles. With riding out west in the USA and into Canada and the Yukon, that's a concern for me.

Hi Chris: Just watched your video and it got me thinking about getting an extended warranty for my 2018 Wing which I bought in the spring of 2019, and by the way, I live up here in Ontario Canada. So I called up my local Honda dealer and I got a big surprise. Honda Canada offers a 48 month package which includes roadside assistance for $748, which I thought was reasonable. But here's the kicker. Coverage starts at the date the Vehicle Registration Number is registered. And the 48 month coverage includes the standard 36 month that comes with the bike. So that means for $748, I only get an additional 12 months of warranty coverage. Totally outrageous! Needless to say, I won't be getting any extended coverage. So Honda Canada is screwing over their customers here in Ontario while Honda in the US is providing their customers with a reasonable option for extended warranty coverage. Thought you would like to know.

Hmmm. After I posted earlier, it didn’t sound right that there would be such a difference between the two countries so I checked into this and compared the extended warranties in the US and Canada. The US product is measured in 12 month intervals and start after the36 month factory expires. In Canada it also provides coverage in 12 month intervals however instead of saying you have 12 months of extended warranty for “x” amount as in the US , in Canada they label this 12 month extended warranty as 48 months for “x” amount and they include the 3 year factory warranty. Prices for12 month of additional coverage whether purchased in the US orCanada, are very comparable. In addition, like the US , in Canada the price for this coverage is negotiable so bargain with ur dealer and shop between dealers.

Cruiseman, thanks for the valuable information. Update, Chloe is now handling these transactions, as Carter was promoted to another position. One thing all should know is the Honda Extended Care policy does not cover Radio / Nav and related electronics. Also the DCT transmission and related dual clutch are not listed as covered, but they are not listed on exclusion list either.

Do you know if the warranty is applicable when your bike crosses the boarder between the U.S. & Canada (either way?). The advantage of getting the Warranty when you purchase the bike is that you may have the ability to get a deeper discount on the Warranty as part of a package deal. Yes, really large markups in Canada on this as well.

Cruiseman - What "major" items of the 2018+ Goldwing does the "extended warranty" NOT cover that you feel are "important" and SHOULD be covered under the extended warranty from Honda.? It was mentioned in the comments that the nav/radio are NOT COVERED. :(

Usually, they do not cover any normal wear parts like brakes, fluids, tires, etc. The audio/nav is the big thing they left out.

Not covering the GPS and Radio combo isn't so good. I just had to get my unit replaced in my 2017 Chysler 300. I had purchased the extended warrenty and it was covered. Saved me about $2k. Not covering that is a big gap for Honda as the electronics are expensive.

Purchased warranty from Blue Ridge. I was on the phone for less than. 5 minutes, and Carter hooked me up. Received the warranty packet from Honda about a month later. A great bargain.

I could be wrong, but I believe the downside in waiting to buy the Honda extended warranty will be the increased price at a later date. In the video example the 48 month Honda extended warranty price today was $1,030 (Blue Ridge $690). If you purchased a new Goldwing today and waited until just prior to the original factory 3 year warranty expiration to purchase the extended warranty, I have to believe the price 3 years from now will be substantially higher. If the information is available, it would be interesting to see if the historical pricing data supports my theory. My gut feeling is to buy it now rather than wait and pay more later.

I did not buy at Level 5 dealer because they quoted $2400/bike -we have two 2018 Goldwing Tour’s and no deals even though we bought two bikes. I did research on the web and found a Honda dealer in Ohio that sold me a 60 month extended warranty for $699/per bike which we jumped on.

This ils m'y 5th new Goldwing and never purchase extended waranty because I resale or trade them in after 4 or 5 seasons à round the 100k mark. But this now 2020 I may keep it longer son here's m'y question. 1-Does Blue Ridge sale ext.war for the Canadian market and 2 does the ext. war. start after the end of the 3 years Honda manufacturer waranty or run at the same time? I just bought a new Rebel 1100. The dealership price was over $1500 for 3 years, but was willing to give me a deal "at a loss to them" for almost $1100. Carter had already quoted me 5 years with roadside assistance for $690. The dealership said they couldn't get anywhere close to that. I'll be getting my extended warranty from Carter. You may have to leave your phone number and wait for her to call you back. It might take a day or two. She said she has been swamped since this video was put out.

Most people buy the extended warranty at time of purchase so they can just roll the cost into the loan and don't have to come up with any additional money later. It is just simple economics, or so they think.

I have a 2019 GW DCT Tour. I have had a couple of issues from the throttle control grip to a “continuing to this day” engine warning light. The throttle control was not covered by Honda according to the dealership here in Daytona Beach. The dealer NEVER covers ANYTHING unless they call Honda for their approval. They also require payment for anything they do BEFORE they get approval from Honda. This means you pay for the service, then wait to get reimbursed. The check engine light comes on “whenever” meaning whenever for apparently no reason. The dealership here says “don’t worry about it.” They put the system on their machine which to them indicates “nothing wrong” so they say just drive it. Funny. One technician said it will go out after stopping and starting the bike 3 times. (not true). This is disgusting. Is this an issue to be concerned about? Does this have anything to do with getting “ripped off” or is this normal service for others out there? I have the Honda extended warranty. I’m not used to this type of service from any Honda dealer in the past.

Wow Cruiseman, that's a dramatic difference in price. I had thought or assumed that Factory Extended Warranties had a fixed retail price, and Honda wouldn't allow their dealers to discount. Is that discounted factory extended warranty more limited than the full price directly from Honda?

Nope. Full factory extended warranty. Honda cannot prevent dealer discounting or they could be in violation of price fixing laws.

@@cruisemansgarage glad to know it's not watered down. Haha, true on price fixing, but we all know how the game is played. Manufacturer, "we strongly discourage you against discounting below msrp", Harley plays that game all the time. To me this is more infuriating than Sirius XM pricing games. I wish manufacturers would just charge a fair price for warranties and call it a day. Communist pricing strategies aren't all bad 🤓.

My bike is an 06 with 125k. Total cost to fix a few things less than 100.00. That panel on the left I did replace it cause of the hazard button Got a. Brand new one on EBay for $35.00.

Not covering the Nav/Radio is somewhat of a concern for me as that equipment can be off the charts in price! Question is, does the normal 3 year factory warranty cover the Nav/Radio equipment? If the 3 year covers Audio then the additional 5 years really isn't an extended warranty is it now? Call it more of a "additional" warranty!

I believe the original 3 year warranty does cover the audio/nav unit.

Yes. As long as it is still covered under the original 3-year factory warranty, which it should be.

11-18-2021, Just called, and Carter Wood is no longer handling Warranties. Ask for Sam Lambert. FYI... warranty does not cover the infotainment screen......ugh!!!!

It's 1-19-2022 and Carter Wood from Blueridge Powersports handled my 2021 Goldwing DCT for $770, Full price with roadside assistance. Took less than 5 minutes. Maybe Sam Lambert was off today.

I’m researching my next motorcycle. When comparing the Honda against the BMW’s, BMW does not sell a factory warranty. I think it’s a big advantage to Honda.

Many BMW dealers sell Western Service Contract extended warranty. I've had 2 R1200GSs covered under their 7 (factory plus 4 ) year full coverage plans. The first one paid out thousands in claims. The second bike was more reliable which I think would be a could thing. They are big bucks compared to Honda Care. $1800 for 4 additional years back in 2015

For the money buy the five years. If you sell in four bike is still under warranty. The dealer can negotiate the price. If you buy same time you buy bike you can negotiate the price even better. I have the first three years plus five more for total of eight years. At less then you paid. If I sell or trade in bike Honda Factory warranty stays with bike. As ya said ONLY buy the Honda Factory Warranty. Warning I know of a dealer who sold a friend a third party warranty on his 2019 wing for $1200.00 He learned from us friends and went back to change to Honda warranty. Not sure if he was successful.

I tried to negotiate the warranty price but could not as they sold me the 19 for the same price as their discounted 18's.. so went to Blue Ridge. As Chris said Shop around. However, Chris is the only person on the Vlogs that has taken the time to reach out to us on these types of savings.

That's why their extended warranty is so inexpensive. Check out the cost of an extended warranty for a Harley or BMW.

Three years extended warranty for Honda $800, for HD $1000. Considering everything about HD parts and labor is expensive that could explain the $200 higher cost for HD not that Honda so much more reliable. Four year extended warranty for my Suzuki was only $400. Does that make it twice as reliable as Honda? I don’t think so. I think Honda is a good bike but it’s reliability overhyped. I do enjoy your channel.👌
