People are saying that the Scottish League, Eredivisie, Liga Portugal, and many more are not better than MLS if you remove a few teams. This is dumb because everyone compares the top teams to other top-team leagues. It's much better to go to S.C. Braga, Utrecht, and Aberdeen F.C. than stay at MLS because they already have a history of youth development, while MLS only has Alphonso Davies; everyone else is not good. Outside of that, teams have scouts in those leagues already. If you are doing good in those leagues there's a good chance that you will leave soon where as MLS. They still don't know what type of league they are trying to be.

I have a lot of issues with MLS, but it's not a bad league to go at that age if your European career has stalled. I just don't think Gio needs that move right now. He's still at Dortmond. He just had a great game. We see players like him flounder on the bench of big clubs for years, then suddenly get an opportunity and show they have grown into a much better player. I don't think MLS can help him, and if he struggles here , he will never get back to Europe.

I've been saying this for many years. The middle of most leagues in Europe is worse than MLS, and the bottom of top 5 leagues outside of the EPL is absolutely worse than MLS. If you're not playing at one of the top richest 25 teams in Europe, you're not playing at a level that's significantly higher than MLS. It's the "new" 2014 fans that grew up watching the EPL and playing FIFA that scream the loudest about not wanting any US players in MLS, not wanting any MLS coaches for the Nats, and universally believing MLS is the worst league in the developed world. The difference why Gio should consider the Galaxy are lifestyle and playing time. It might finally unlock his full potential and getting in a regular rhythm of playing every week might help with his fitness in staying healthy instead of repeating the cycle of rushing back from injury only to be re-injured.

Why MLS? MLS offers nothing for someone trying to become a better player. Name ONE player MLS turned from promising youth to a good professional. You cannot name one. Donovan joined MLS after development in Germany and dominated immediately. MLS is where you go when all hope is lost.

@MLSMoves even in your better 6-8 month loan spell, I just dont think it makes sense. The MLS season starts in late February, so if Gio leaves a game or two after the Bundesliga restarts he's not playing for a month. He has a 99% likelihood of being called to the USMNT for the Gold cup so there's another month of non MLS games. Then, if he's going back to Dortmund to start the 25 season, he likely doesn't return to LA after the GC. So he gets roughly 3-4 months of MLS games, and at that point, is it really a good deal for Dortmund? I'm sure LA would love to have him, he's a damn good player. I just dont see how 3-4 months of MLS games really improves his transfer fee. Unless he balls the fuck out, which isn't far fetched imo.
@lennyjenkins99312 күн бұрын
@@timothymartensen9040It just doesn't make sense. If you as a player want to get some meaningful game time while also developing, MLS is the absolute last place you'd want to go. Especially when you go from a top team in the world. He should get a loan to the Eredivisie, League 1, or a mid table Serie A team(honestly la Liga would be amazing too but most of the team are struggling because the League makes it damn near impossible to get other players, unless you're RM of course). It just doesn't make sense to move from the. Bundesliga where you can train with some top talent to such an inferior and uncompetitive league as the MLS.

Derek needs to drop his rose tinted American Glasses. Reyna is only getting this run because Julian Brandt was injured. Now that Brandt is back, does he see Reyna amassing more significant minutes at the start of the new year?. BvB being a selling club is a moot point because clubs can repeatedly cut their losses on players every time.

They had enough faith in him to play against Barca…. and regardless if they want to cut their losses, what does that have to do with him going to MLS. Chelsea cut their losses for Pulisic to go to Milan, Dest went to PSV. Even if Reyna somehow can’t get playing time, why not just wait it out and see what happens. There’s no rush to loan out when playing time isn’t even the issue now.

If Reyna is told he's going to have a limit on his minutes, go out on loan somewhere or ask for a transfer in the summer, style wise he's so La Liga, somewhere like Sevilla (Navas is retiring this month), Villareal (Dani Parejo isn't going to be around much longer) or Mallorca (it'd just fit)...also to piggy back of something Derek said, MLS isn't a shit league, he's right, ive heard a few Americans say the Scottish league is better, no its not, take away Rangers and Celtic and it's almost unwatchable, I think MLS is on par with the Belgian League which is also on par with the Eredivisie (apart from the Dutch big 3) is it on par with the very top leagues, no, but people saying it's worse than the SPL in Scotland is a joke, they just need to improve some things but it's a fun league, another thing Derek said compare this MLS to 1996 MLS, there's no comparison, it's come a long way, there's still more work to do and it could go further but from 1996 it's come a long way
