Actually, the Aptera DOES share one big component with other EV's: its drivetrain which is an off-the-shelf electric motor/transmission unit made by Vitesco Technologies which has supplied this drivetrain to other major European EV manufacturers and is already found in a lot of EV's on our roads.

The solar management system can handle up to 1000 more watts of solar. They have in the past thought about the ability to add a port for the typical connection found on portable panels. I think there is a bigger demand for an aftermarket bi-direction add on to the charge port. But the gal that is in charge of low voltage systems may have it designed?

Like a good politician Chris does a good job of dodging the question of what the launch edition will cost. 31:55 into the video.
@tims8603Күн бұрын
He said $26,000 for the base model and $45,000 for the 1,000 mile. Pick a number about halfway and you'll be close. They don't know for sure until all the costs are figured in
@simonthedog7980Күн бұрын
@@tims8603 I understood what he said and I get your point. The question was directed at the cost of the launch edition which according to Aptera will the the only model available in the first year or two. If Chris knows about what the cost of the base model will be 2 years from now and about what the 1,000 mile model will be 2 years from now he should know about what the launch model will cost when it's released later this year. For some reason he avoided answering the question.

@@tims8603 Sure, and if they don’t make it to production we won’t know. If they don’t make it to production people with deposits will get their money back so everyone is fine. Everyone except people who invested in Aptera because they believed Aptera was going to be able to sell a car that got 350 MPGe, hardly ever needed or never needed to be charged and you could buy a base model for some where around $26,000. Chris makes claims about 350 MPGe without any proof but it’s hard to disprove so we can only give opinions and wait. Some things we have more info on. Are you familiar with Aptera’s Investors Presentation put out by US Capital Global? It’s an 18-page PDF for potential investors to gain insights into Aptera’s operations before investing. Check out page 13, you’ll understand that a base model in the range of $26,000 is never going to happen based on actual data supplied by Aptera. @@madmotorcyclist for the Aptera it’s only on the sides because the entire hatch, roof, and hood has solar panels and/or glass. Because of Aptera’s fluid design, wrap should last much longer on it than on a traditional car shape/body.

Aptera has said they hope for 30 avg solar miles/day in SW CA with 6.2 peak equivalent hrs/day while most of USA is 4.2 peak equivalent hrs/day. That means 21 avg solar miles/day for most of USA. And in the interview he pretends customers can expect avg 40. Complete lie!!
@TekaisuwuКүн бұрын
Southern California receives around 6.2 peak sun hours per day, and with Aptera’s panels generating 7 miles of range per peak sun hour, the theoretical maximum would be about 43 miles per day. However, in real-world conditions, this figure would likely drop slightly, making 40 miles per day in sunny conditions reasonable.

Both Paul Wilbur and investors caused the company to go in a completely different direction than Steve and Chris wanted so they left the company and it eventually dissolved.
