"It's not safe!" "Don't go alone" "Don't bring your camera!"
These were just a few of the warnings I heard from other travelers and tourists before visiting the charming and historical LA BOCA neighborhood. If you've seen pictures of La Boca, you know it's quite beautiful...but is La Boca Safe, and how dangerous is Argentina?

Tal cual. Pareciera que no pueden soportar tanta belleza junta, que se dicen: "no puede ser que esto sea el paraíso, algo feo o sucio tiene que haber también". Y salen a buscar miserias y a revolver excrementos. Y nunca falta un argentino amable y servicial que se ofrece a mostrarle los barrios más bajos. La Boca por ejemplo. Great video. I was in Buenos Aires in the late 1990s and wanted to go to LA Boca, my aunt talked me out of it. I wonder if maybe it was worse then or she was just being paranoid. My brother was there right before the pandemic and said it was fine. He even went to the Bombonera to buy a Carlito Tévez jersey.

Good advice guys! Actually, I would say Buenos Aires is quite a safe city compared to most big cities I have been too.

Buenos Aires is as dangerous as New York City. Also, Argentina is a relatively safe country, with statistics comparable to those of the US. So it's not the safest place, but it also isn't the most dangerous either. You have to be careful in some neighborhoods, just as you would in LA or San Francisco and other major cities. Locals tend to exaggerate the safety issue, because historically, Argentina was even safer than it is now, but after having faced a deep economic crisis for the last 30 or so years, criminality has increased. Yet, it is considered a safe country to travle to.

@@mentalitythekingdom9043 My parents lived in Buenos Aires from 1950 to 1973, they said there was very little crime. The povery rate was extremely low back then. Now I read the poverty rate is above 45%. Very sad what's happening. Of course the population has doubled. Back then you never heard about drugs, now there is drug trafficking. I think more drugs = more crime. The villas were also much smaller and not as many. It's a beautiful country. I really hope the economic situation improves. Breaks my heart. My parents loved it so much.

BA in general and La Boca in particular is not the safest place on earth but you would be at a higher risk of being victim of petty crime in Paris, London, Rome or even Barcelona

Argentina is huge....and not all about Buenos Aires. In fact...there are more dangerous cities like neighbouring ROSARIO and perhaps Cordoba.... But in Mendoza its really nice. Also the northern areas of San Miguel de Tucuman to Salta and west into the Andes the area around Cafeyate is beautiful....and safe....

The way she depicts it is exagerated at least, but, yeah, it's not the safest neighborhood in BA. Still, if you keep in the main tourist area you'll be fine.

La Boca is a safe place as long as you do not go into the inner sections of the neighbourhood, but compared to other metropolis it would be equal to tour on foot the toughest parts of Philly, NY, London or Paris, you would get into trouble easily

i live in la paloma and avoid the capital as much as possible, however as I'm English i would say that BA is 100 times safer than London Argentina is vast and beautiful but unfortunately crime is on the rise

I really don't understand that woman. She is very exaggerated! From the way she talks, surely never walked the streets she feared. In other words, fear the unknown. Nor is it true what she said about the police that after that street they don't protect you. Logically, as in any large city in specific areas at certain times you have to be a little more careful, but as in any part of the world. I just discovered your channel with this video. Thank you for putting tango dancers because that is Argentine. Another person told me recently that Tango was not allowed for a time because for the plandemic. Yes. Plandemic. This is al planned. Anyway, it is good to see tango dancers in public. Inside buildings is 👌🏻 okay but sometimes it needs to be danced outside. It is part of the charm of Argentina 🇦🇷. Argentina is known to be another Europe outside Europe and it must always be that way and not converted or tainted by the nwo, woke, cancel culture that is itself very anti Caucasian.

Argentina has much European influence but also some indigenous, Middle Eastern and even some Sub Saharan African and a tiny East Asian. But a lot of the traditions and folklor come from indigenous and even Sub Saharan African roots, therefore is not Europe, no matter if you don't accept it or like it. The center-east (where is located Buenos Aires) and parts of the Patagonia are the regions culturally most similar to Europe (especially Spain and Italy), but the rest of the country not.
