Why make fun of one piece here. In my opinion one piece can compete with all the greats like AoT and fmab. But that’s only story wise and world building. Pacing makes the show hard to watch at points though, but calling one piece a mediocre story is a lie. The story isn’t generic it’s one of the most creative ones I’ve seen. If your calling characters generic I’ll agree with that but the show was created back in 1997 when cliches of that type didn’t really exist. The character design though are one of the most unique I have ever seen though. But that might not be for everyone considering it’s unorthodox and people hate change. I’ll agree that the animation is trash though until recently but that because of the weekly episodes. It’ll be hard doing that type of show seasonal.

Shanks sacrificing an arm, pell visiting his own grave lol (yh that actually happend), ace and blackbeard forgetting about haki when they are fighting, zoro cutting his own feet and fighting fully healed 10 minutes later so yhh. Oh yh the introduction of haki fucked up many plots of the story. It was handled very poorly. I mean Oda is planning stuff or rather setting up mysteries like the will of D to reveal it later on. But he doesnt plan out the execution aswell as Iseyama. He is mostly thinking about releasing issue per issue. Imo a manga cant be as good as aot with a 1 week deadline (especially since he didnt take many breaks compared to other mangakas). Or rather be as good as ones who have a less stressful deadline.

Game of Thrones kind of shat itself, and The Office and Rick and Morty had their lapses in quality during later seasons as well. For me, Attack on Titan's only real competition is Breaking Bad and Chernobyl. Chernobyl is great, but I prefer the other two shows. So it's a decision between AOT and Breaking Bad... That's difficult. But when Season 4 of AOT comes out, it'll be easy.

I think the show's popularity and it's over exposure to not only anime fans but people outside of this medium makes a lot of people view it as "overrated" but that couldn't be further from the truth. I recently rewatched the entire anime and it still holds up as some of the best work in any visual medium. It starts simple and lacking in depth and then builds not only the characters but the world itself with masterful storytelling and by the end of the last season, a show that started with shock value as a tool for engagement turned into an incredibly rich story with deep characters that can each carry entire episodes on their own. If Attack on Titan ends with the same quality it has been offering us, it may very well become an unforgettable classic that's sure to inspire creators for years and years to come.
