Azur Lane operates in a weird space, in that a good part of its production is in Japan. For instance, all the voice acting is done exclusively in Japanese and all of over the 600+ ship girls are voiced. Most of the marketing and promotional events seem to also originate in Japan or use Japanese assets. The majority of the art for the game is commissioned from various artist world wide. Yostar has a Tokyo headquarters as well, so the option to develop the game outside of China is there, if the people involved are willing and they think the game has the legs to remain profitable for some time to come. At the very least, they can continue the status quo for the foreseeable future in making a Chinese version..and the version the rest of the world gets.

China has had multiple wives (not husbands apparently :P) since ancient times. It's not until the CCP took over in 1949 that it was banned and now the 1 husband 1 wife thing is hard enforced. Nowadays, having a mistress (or a couple of them) is popular in China for the wealthy, so apparently you give each of the ship girls a ring to signal that they are now your mistress.😁
@solidsnake434 Жыл бұрын
This did happened before inside Azur Lane, let me remind you guys of the Idol Master Collab event: the IdolMaster franchise holder didn't want their Idols image to be tarnished because the idol culture it's so stupid that the girls cannot by any means ever get married and acknowledged as a wife ever, so Azur Lane had to compromise and introduce the Friendship Tiaras usable just on the Collab shipgirls. Just as a reminder Rings and Tiaras do cost money, so you are paying to get friendzoned, and it's what now it's happening on the Chinese client.

The only concession they have done even for Global was some time after the voice actress for Kaga and various ships said some stuff about Yasakuni Shrine, her voice work got removed from the game and got replaced. All games from China are always subjected to censorship scrutiny. So, I do play them with this in mind. GFL (also a game from gatcha) has a hidden mechanic that you could actually remove the censorship in game. The devs made this out of the goodness of their heart, but I don't think this will apply to either Neural Cloud or the upcoming GFL 2. Blue Archive JP, on the other hand, has been great and none of this censorship business lol.

its not just games FROM china, its games outside of china that are being pushed to get marketed FOR china. thats the real issue here. china can censor their crap all they want, its messed up that they can just throw money at whatever game they want, to market and sell it in china while making them censor stuff they dont like. essentially trying to buy out and replace the game to better sell in their own waters. and we all know it wouldnt sell better cause even CN players dont like censorship. they just have larger swathes of players in numbers compared to the rest of the world. @@justsomeguy4422 Reminds me of the whole Nikke debacle, in that Shift Up is a KR studio and has rightfully been creating the game to be slated for global viewers. A lot of the earlier designs were made with that in mind. And yet, because Level Infinite is a CN publisher owned by TenCent (which in turn works closely with the CCP as all big corps in CN do), so much of Nikke's content after release has been nerfed to suit the CCP's limitations on content. Even the newest skin for Yuni, which has a miniskirt that rides high up her legs, has her legs overlapping her underwear in her spine L2D files. Despite being slated for a mature audience that specifically went into this game for the purpose of mature content, Level Infinite and by extension 10cent has treated the playerbase like toddlers and prepubescent children. I agree with the statement of censorship won't hit global as the time it is forced into the game, but we get the effect afterwards. The simplest example is Genshin, Honkai and Epic seven, after getting hit by the censor fiasco, their character designs afterwards (especially waifu) becoming borderline meh (all of them wearing short pants or whatever conservative) they become so careful about the future contents that it won't get hit by the censor again. So, I for one, hate censorship for that reason.

@baileydombroskie3046 Жыл бұрын
Global rarely if ever gets touched by censorship. CN has been brutally destroyed at this point by all the censorship, while almost none of it reached outside of China. The biggest censorship global has ever received was some of the nurse and casual skins which originally displayed symbols that were way too close to looking like swastika and the Red Cross. They were forced by the world government or watever to change them to other symbols. It is the greatest illegal act to display the Red Cross when not used for war time medical personnel and vehicles. It is a worldwide protected symbol. So yostar was forced to change them to hearts and other cute things. And most of the rest of the censorship global has received in terms of character designs have been so small/minor that the b4 and after images can literally be used for “find the difference” games. I have yet to win those games with the AL global censorship pics. Lol So all in all, I’m not worried about global getting severe censorship bcuz China is. We just can’t help but feel sad for the CN servers players and be mad about how they keep getting treated like shit.

And it's Dead on JP. Shutting down on June. The Nail on the coffin of shutting down is probably this controversy.

In betwen the suppose bill of restriction and censorship, to the rest, so many games will literaly close, i mean i just dont care, neural cloud i play because it allow me to progress, not so mmuch fanservice, and eversoul has more sexy characters, as for ship girls i play victory bells, also lets be honest censorship is killing videogame in general,

Victory Belles would outright not be allowed in China, as one of the overarching factions is literally named "Axis", the Nazi Germany flag is actually in the game (disabled by default to show a German flag with a normal Iron Cross), and a lot of the girls that *aren't* Asian in origin are wearing very western style clothing (even some the Japanese girls are wearing western clothing).

@@Practitioner_of_Diogenes in deed, victory bels wont last a lot max 2 years i guess, is a pity that now every mobile game has to try to get china or asia, is not the best of games but is a fun one, and i can imagine that well many mobiles game will be region lock i the us, maybe wont be so much i mean the main market for many games is asia, and europe, in mi region yes latin america play a lot of mobile games because free and are on mobile but dont spend no wear near, and like you said victory bell wont be allow in china and i dont even know if in germany because the nazi flag, lets pretend the past didint exist so we can all live in an ever ending present dictated by the party, well i am a bit not so much happy but at least not live in the us but is sad seen that even mobiles will be censor even more, well nothing to do i guess

@@Krysnha Germany allows some media to have Nazi symbolism if it's based around WWII. Don't recall if it's film or games that they allow that. Have allowed that for a few years now. Unlike AL or other shipgirl franchises, VB does outright skip over the gacha almost all together, so it can get around some of the European laws about gambling without too much issue. As such, it has markets that things like AL can't even touch. The problem with VB isn't really with the game itself, as it's enjoyable, the art is good, and the fact that I can understand at least the American and British girls is a bonus in my book. The problem is that no one's really talking about it. For a small game like it, it needs word of mouth to get moving, as it's not large enough and making enough to buy ad slots on sites like this one. That said, the playerbase is passionate about it, so maybe members of it could help get that ball rolling with buying ad slots for it.
