Interesting video mick, i used petrol / 2 stroke machinery professional for 30 years, but i started going over to battery 4 years ago and them first tools have had a hard life, and still going strong, i run 90% battery kit and would never go back to 2 stroke through choice, it's as powerful as petrol, obvious benefits is low noise, less vibration and no fumes, which makes a massive difference, for someone who uses machinery 8 hours per day, 5 day's all week, battery is definitely the future. Nice video mate 👍

If you buy a Trimmer, backpack blower Hedge Trimmer. The batteries alone if you get the high amp be at least $600us dollars. The equipment if you get name brands like echo etc. will cost about $1200.00 just a guess. My brother just bought a Battery Toro for $670.00.The battery barely last 50 minutes so if he wants a backup battery it cost almost $300us dollars.

Good job Mick I reckon the way to go for me here in Australia. I’ve got 200 m² out the back and I’ve already started using corded electric gear……. Because if you Work left to right, the cord is not an issue and they are cheaper. The batteries never chemically degrade because there’s no batteries and you’re always running on full power off the mains……. Have a look at the Draper 240v de-thatcher for example….. Ok for DIY corded not too flash for a business…….

I have a battery operated strimmer and leaf blower. I cannot properly use the strimmer to trim around the driveway, sidewalk, and patio on a single battery charge. Nor can I blow grass/leaf clippings from the same on a single charge. Thankfully these are used only when the 2-strokers give me fits until I can repair them. I’m sticking with the petrol equipment until someone else is willing to take up doing my yard work. I won’t ever see a battery operated mower. If I’ve got to go electric, it’ll be at the end of a long extension cord - and not practical for my size of yard.

Hi Mick. Nice haul. To replace all that machinery with the same brand and same battery system would cost £1,000's I know they quote Stihl machinery as it is, then the battery and charging system is an extra cost. Depending where you go, there are Stihl disc cutter and battery bundles up to £1600, where a petrol one is about £800. Governments are making the manufacturers go electric to cut down on emissions and reduce the output of CO2, but it's being rushed as battery systems are not as efficient as petrol in most cases, and petrol is more convenient because we are use to it. The biggest change is getting customers use to how to look after the battery, the cost coming down to be affordable, the batteries holding more charge and charging quicker without burning out. I've had customers come in saying their battery mower isn't working and I ask what they did with the battery. A lot of the time I get "I left it in" and that can cause a slight power drain which will flatten the battery. Also you can't leave it out in the garage as if it gets cold, it loses power (try charging a battery power pack when its cold, it takes ages or doesn't until taken inside to warm up). I personally would find a electric van more handy as I rarely get the van warmed up properly as I do a lot of local intermittent running around, which is what diesel engines don't like, but it's the cost mainly.

4mix is ok as long as it's serviced properly. And not mistaken for 4 cycle gas. I've got a PB 580T in the shop with spark issues. As far as battery power, It's ok in the right application. For commercial use, going to cost a lot of money for initial outlay. But finding someone to fix it if it breaks...I can tell you for sure, in my area there isn't anyone. Here's another point, I was looking at some new battery power tools. Most manufacturers sell the battery separately. $100 for the tool and $150 for the battery. Extra batteries are $$$. I do have a 20V small blower for use in the garage and on the deck. It works ok, but doesn't last long.

Here in New York, all municipal maintanence departments are required to transition to battery. California has outlawed the sale of new gas powered equipment. Batteries are being forced on us, like it or not. If you want to see what happens to battery equipment in the cold, just watch the videos of all the dead Teslas in Chicago when the temp. dropped down to 15 deg. F.

We all know we're being slowly forced to go the battery route but the battery technology isn't keeping up! The batteries are good for the stated output and run time for only a short period whereupon they have less output, charge slowly and capacity drops! It'll get there but as far as I can see at a snails pace.

Mick, it looks like you've made quite a score! I do agree that we will go all electric but those prices need to get much more competitive before it's practical to make the transition. I have a couple of battery drill drivers and an impact from DeWalt that have held up well but I'm still using plug in grinders, chop saws etc. in my shop. If I have to go mobile I have a gas generator. Not quite ready for battery only outdoors. Great video!
