So I've been on Shipt for about a year now. Deliver Only orders for me have NEVER tipped. I've got 2 cash tips in a year and no tips in the app, just the base pay. Also, not knowing if you're getting tipped at all for shopping orders is tough because customers don't tip until after they receive their order. So you could legit spend an hour shopping a big order, deliver it and never get a tip at all. I've also had people tip a week or two after I've done their order. So there are a lot of unknowns. This is why I use it as a side app to kill time when my other apps are slow. That's just my experience here in the Houston area.

I do shop and deliver and I have gotten tips over 85% of the time, I spread sheet it all out. I learned that the home depot orders dont tip because it goes through the home depot website and there is no way for the customer to tip so I stopped doing those completely.

Delivery only to not have the ability to tip through Shipt. The customer can choose to give you a tip once you turn in their items. But never once did I ever receive a tip. Like 99% of the delivery only customers I never saw. For shop and deliver, like 2/3 of the customers will tip in my area. I used to work both west and the east side of my metro. I now just stick to the east side since I live on that side. I tag all my customers on Google maps. I now make a little more money and travel a little less than what I used to.

Seems as if you’re not contacting customer when in route to store; on store arrival, on initiation of shopping, during shopping if needed i.e. item was out of stock or needed more description on a specialty item, during the checkout process, And before navigating to your delivery location. Communication is key to keeping customers and clients. Personally I’ve had way more luck with shipt even in a very rural area versus my DoorDash. For example, with doing all of that, I took a nine dollar order which was $167 worth of items and I made sure to communicate with my customer which resulted in a $29 tip. You get what you put in pretty much.
@LawPope11 ай бұрын
Shipt is not as cut and dry as quick shops and delivery. I done a 1 hour and 30 minutes for 30 items Cosco delivery for $24 base pay and a customer tip of $45. I done 20 minutes shop and deliver for 3 hair dye products and for a $20 tip when their total was less than $20. I have a tip rate of 80%, but it's all about the law of averages, more you do, the better you learn and understand who tips and how to get tips or even increase tips. After a few weeks of shopping for products; you start to memorize where all they are and I am able to do 3-4 customers in the hour if their destination is close to each other. No one ever talks about the health benefits of shop and deliver! I lost weight and gain so much more stamina and strength due to walking 3-5 miles a day! Compared to the amount of sitting that is done with food delivery and ride share. I did a water fast for 3 days, burning over 4,000 calories and only drinking water with proper electrolytes. Felt great! Be safe out there!
@SimoneFrancesReed11 ай бұрын
That makes total sense about the stamina and weight loss! I finally got off the wait list in my area for door dash and started doing that this past week and a half and not doing shipt at all, and I've noticed I feel more sluggish than usual. Not as much get up and go. Like I'm genuinely starting to miss the constant movement of the shopping aspect of shipt. I never thought of it in terms of how many miles I'm literally walking! Thank you for sharing that! 🩷😁

@@billwright2176Without tips, the job would not be worth it at all because the gas and time would not add up. I add the address of the customer to my Google maps, with the last 4 digits of the order as a reference along with how much the order was and then if a tip comes in, I add the tip to that order. Then when i get orders, I can quickly look up the customer to see if they tipped or not and if it was a good tip for me to shop for them again. For the customers I did not get a tip, I usually turn them down but I usually take all orders I get and try to make a good communications with the customer on the app since there is no face to face; trying to make repor and connection is important to get a tip IMO. I love the drop off window. I multi app with Shipt and get around $25-$35 per hour sometimes. If the drop off is the same way. Stacking orders while shopping it great too. Most other gig apps I use, once you select an order you can't see new ones while at store OR the app decided to off to you while shopping. 1/3 tip in my area about $5-10 each.
@mzcaramel8 ай бұрын
I use to do the stack order thing but found it's not worth it at least in California since they have guaranteed pay now so you're essentially being paid by the hour plus mileage...so I rather take my time and focus on order accuracy and communicationg with customer making sure the order is delivered timely instead of rushing and feeling frustrated toggling through multiple orders and worrying about time when they add items while you're still shopping

Had to go up 4 flights of stairs 4 times. Zero tip and not even a thank you.

I delivered to million dollar home 12 miles from store, no cell service either. Large order and zero tip. Did 400 dollar target order with heavy items/totes. I am a very frequent customer for shipt target shop and deliver. I used to tip 20% on every order unless it was delivered after the window or missing items (which was super rare). Then shipt added a 3.99 service fee (due to the new law I’m assuming) and for some stupid reason I get charged tax on the service fee. When they calculate the 20% amount it includes this. So I now tip 15% or at least $6. But this may be why some people stopped tipping this year, or started tipping less.

Shipt is a long game. You really have to grind in the beginning to build a customer base by being a great shopper and providing excellent customer service where you'll get preferred members and those are the ones that will tip you and tip you very well. Just the other day I made $136.97 in only 3 hours doing 5 orders for my preferred members, all 5 tipped at least $10 and those 5 weren't even my best ones. You just have to learn your area, build a customer base and Shipt will start paying off.

Then by the time it gets closer to the 2nd go round delivery window they'll sometimes up a $7 order to $18, $19+. But that's usually at like 5 minutes till the top of the hour. the lack of tips is the biggest issue with their model now and the way they allow for tips; some of the customers place orders so frequently it's just another amazon delivery to them where they don't tip ever anymore. the bonus' don't benefit anyone but shipt when they're forcing orders with no promo pay; there's no hourly guarantee either i don't know why that verbiage exists. if you do a base pay order of $6 and they don't tip, you make $6/hour.

I have been doing Shipt for 7 months and this week of Dec 24th I made $1300 on preferred tips and new customers...FOR A WEEK! My average week is about $850 to $1,000 (I have 3 targets within 20 minutes of each other which helps!) but as my shoppers have grown I expect 2025 to be 4K a month consistently (I work around 25 to 30 hours a week). You must BUNDLE orders for distance or it won't make sense for mileage. I always say to customer (accept for personal shoppers) "Thank you and have a great day/weekend. Tips always so appreciated". Mark me as your personal shopper if you are happy, would love to shop for you!" Kill them with thanks and kindness! The tips are the KEY! Good luck all.

Wear and tearing her vehicle. Then when you get there, you have to spend time picking the items, then you have to deliver the items that's more gas. More wear and tear especially if your vehicle is a 6 cylinder or an 8 cylinder those ten dollars you just made does not cover the expense for this delivery.

Shopping is not really my thing either. If they had more Delivery Only I'd definitely have it higher on my list
