Is Benadryl Safe For Your Dog?

Hey doc, appreciate the video. I have my Bulldog on 2x 20mg of diphenhydramine (she's 57lbs) to control her seasonal allergies and I'm worried about the long term affects'. After your video I found a bottle of 500 10mg of Cetirizine for $12 so I'm going to give that a try as per your recommendation. My hope being that the Cetirizine works a little bit better than the diphenhydramine and I can administer it to her maybe once every other day to control her allergies. Appreciate what you do.

Hello doctor . A friend of mine was told by her vet to give her very large dog 3 benadryl tablets in the morning and 3 at night for itching . I am concerned this might be too much for the dog 🐕? I told her that 2 tablets should be enough . Ive noticed after the dog takes it a scoop full of wet dog food , the dog becomes grouchy . My main question is , are 3 benadryl tablets too much for even a large dog ?

The dosage for Benadryl is 1mg per pound of body weight and one tablet is 25mg so if the dog is at least 75lbs three tablets is not too many. You could cut the dosage to two tablets and see if that helps the pet.
