There are a few things I didn't cover because it would require separate videos, but this is as barebones as it's going to get. Personally I don't have a long attention span and zone out of videos that don't get straight to the point.

Great video! Didn't know a damn thing about the game prior to this aside from the cons from very early years of the game. Was really good to hear about equalized arena, protection against PK in open world, no loading screens between zones, and the sheer amount of classes available. Gear degrading and breaking is a huge turn-off for me so if I do end up playing I'll probably just focus on arena for fun. Really great to see a video that provides some genuine cons without tribalism-inspired copium. Thanks for covering this!

If you really hate gear degrading aspect you can buy gear from the market place too and completely ignore enhancing that way. sadly the arena is also only on a seasonal loop so it's not always available. :(

Yeah for anyone put off by the degrading of gear i highly recommend buying everything you can from the marketplace and also do seasons for catch up gear. There is only a small amount of very high end gear you cant buy and have to enhance. But you are unlikely to be at that point any time soon since BDO is a marathon not a sprint (for example wow, ff14 etc are sprints not marathons). I've played the game on and off for over 7 years i've enhanced some high end gear like weapons but i buy most of my stuff when possible. Gambling isn't my thing.

​@@fifadj you can reach early endgame 700gs with only about 500bil.. that sounds like a lot at first but with 500-700mil per hour while grinding and bunch of money from afk fishing/processing/cooking.. it is not that much

@@MyManJohnny you still want the 750 thats 2.3t plus 500m/h making 500b is 1k hours grinding the same mobs as for a new player in the game what this videos is made for they be lucky if they make 3-400m/h afk fishing trash yes every bit counts but then your paying a irl bill for it for leaving your pc on every night not worth it processing/cooking yes they semi afk as you can do them "short" afk you cant do it over night as with fishing so only as your doing your day to day things around the house yes go on mp in game look at all the pens items you need add them up you will see how much the gear weapons and so on costs 2.3t GL and with DFS in the game the higher gs you get more DFS you will get GLHF

I just starter again with season and loving it so far I just wish woosa didn't have a fan as weapon as her kit looks really cool and no red animation as so many others. I went for awakening Maewha and she's a blast to play so far!

It's pretty surprising to see enemies actually reacting to every one of your attacks as opposed to many Western online games as a service and mmos where their health goes down but they don't visually register your attacks. The armor looks pretty sick as well. Crimson Desert is going to be FIRE

As a occasional player that would like to dedicate some time to this game there's one aspect that veterans hype up but what kills the game for me: seasons. It feels like you have to play this game only during a season's start and complete the entire season, otherwise you're just wasting your time. And that's not a good feeling to have when trying to get used to a new game. I think the rewards seasons offer tend to blind veteran players to the issues seasons present for newer players and how much they actually hurt the game. There should be a better catch-up mechanic, one that didn't rely on FOMO but instead let new players play at their own pace, but of course that's not going to happen. Seasons weren't designed with players in mind after all, they exist to sell season passes.

You have 3 months. Im sorry but if that's not enough time bdo just might not be for you. EVERYTHING in this game takes a long time and dedication to complete. It is not wow or ff14 where you get all your gear and do everything in a month or two. Its a long term investment type game. Just yesterday for example i spent 9 hours cooking and gathering. That's it. I built a ship once it took 3 months doing dailies every day for 5+ hours. Its not a game for everyone especially if you don't have large amounts of time to invest

The whole argument about seasons helps reduce the grind IMO falls out the window because at the same time they introduced seasons they also introduced Fallen God Gear, which is now the next step past PEN gear. And while converting a PEN piece of gear to Fallen God isn't hard OMG good luck upgrading that thing with a 2% chance to succeed using a 300 fail stack and if you don't crone stone it and it fails on you when your trying to go from Tri to Tet than poof it all the way back to Pri and yup 20k crone stones is needed for one attempt to upgrade it to tet. The only good thing is they finally after years stat capped all the node wars in the game so gear doesn't matter to much in PVP but still the awful god grind is still is very much alive because of the new Fallen God gear.

You are talking about the pinnacle gear though most people will know if they enjoy the game enough or not by then and even that you can buy up to tet, pen is basically impossible so being able to buy up to what is impossible for everyone is pretty good. Some stuff you will have to grind and enhance like some extreme high end jewelry. But were talking stuff a normal player may not get to for months if not years.

Yep it sure does. I'm disappointed in myself for spending 10 years on ff14, played ESO for 6 months and already prefer that, but burnt myself out a bit as the events keep coming and can take up alot of time which is good. This looks more fun than both the games I mentioned

that is very true, i suggest making a seasonal character and starting off with the season questline and finishing the season pass if you want some sort of structure on where to begin. it'll help you with the basics.

Hmmm... You got my thinking if I should come back. I quit years ago, when having full pen boss and TET gold access was bascially soft cap. I remember playing PS4 launch, I was on of the very first people to hit level 60; 140 hours STRAIGHT at Nagas, baby... Never mind, I talked my self out of it.

The only thing the game sucks at is getting new players and keeping them. And I believe this is mostly due to the progression system and how its linked to pvp. And pvp is pretty much the only fun thing in the game. Everything is else pretty boring for the most part. If gearing up was actully fun then it would have more players. And also the seasons only get you so far as a new player they are waay better than nit having them though u still are pretty far behind the average everyday player. So getting to their gs is rlly the thing thats so boring. Either grind hours and try your luck at enhancing or grind even more hours and straight up buy your gear. Either option is incredibly boring. If their was a more fun way to gear up the gane would be perfect in my opinion

I played the game and while the levelling was the typical mmo stuff, what made me stop playing was the fact that once I levelled up I had zero reason to keep playing due to there being no endgame. No endgame means no point getting exotic gear and rare items, no endgame means doing all the other side quests is pointless, no engame means farming resources is pointless because there's zero reason to upgrade gear. If bdo actually had stuff like raids /dungeons etc then there would be a reason to play after hitting the max level on your character. You basically have three choices once you hit max. Make a new character until you hit max again. Grind on the same character for zero reason or delete the game which is what I did.

@@josh6689 well the whole purpose after hitting 61-62 is to keep grinding in order to get enough gear to be competitive in pvp. So thats the whole point of the game and the whole reason to keep playing. Now if ur a pvp lover thats all the reason u need to keep playing the only problem is. The process is completely and utterly boring. But i will say they have made changes to node wars and seige and there are now caps on gearscore depending on which node/seige u attend which is alot better. Because as a new player u dont have to grind too long to be able to do the tier 1 nodes pretty much after a season full pen tuvala you’re pretty much good to go. Strive for pen weapons and after that you dont need much more and your having fun in pvp. Unless you want to go farther and do the tier 2-4 nodes. Also getting with an active guild who nodewars just about every night will change ur experience with the game. I lowkeye hated the game just playing it on and off for years. Untill I finally hit the soft cap and went a little beyond now im in the top t1 guild on console and i can say I actually do enjoy the game. Pvp that is. Everything else is still boring but its a bit easing on the mind to know that i can atleast pvp and while grinding just knowing its for pvp progression just keeps me sane. Still cant grind longer than 2hrs a day tho. I honestly only log in to do nodewars and after log off. Or if i feel like making gains ill grind 2hrs max and just save the silver till i could buy another pen piece.

While I'm really glad to hear that the game has improved in the p2w aspect, I really wish cosmetics and convenience features weren't considered acceptable cash shop products. I'd rather pay a monthly sub and just have a complete game where I'm rewarded for what I do, not how big my credit limit is. Still, it sounds like they improved that situation a lot, but didn't remove that entirely. I do wish it was more PvE focused tho, but hey it clearly found an audience as is.

honestly the game isnt p2w and highly discourages it if anything. The rng upgrading is so bad that to even have a change to p2w you would need tens of thousands of dollars spent in the game and that is still not guranteed anything. The only "real" p2w is buying cosmetics and selling them and even that has a hard cap of 30 per week which you need to already be at mid game to do and would only net you a few billion which in this game is not a lot of money and anything from the cash shop (besides maybe a few things) can usually be bought from the marketplace

Ive played bdo for 7 years ive spent more on wow subs in that time 🤷‍♂ For others getting into this game i recommend buying one or more of the packages when they go on sale. Pretty much the price of a game nowadays will give you enough to buy pretty much everything you need. Tent etc plus extra stuff. Remember they give away ALOT of stuff now that Pearl abyss is self publishing. I have 45 maids i bought maybe 6 of those via packages over the years :3 For the p2w thing i disagree. Sure you can spend money buying enhancement mats but gear that really matters has a 4% chance or lower to upgrade and you still need the fail stack which could take months to get only for you to fail, some stuff can literally get deleted. Pay to waste your money more like. Most people don't even enhance at all. Tent also is not p2w. Subscription is optional. Even the camo that use to be straight up p2w has been heavily nerfed. It use to be far worse before they started self publishing for sure though. I recommend staying far away from any game owned or published by Kakao games...

Thanks for the video! It's a very thorough explanation of what the game has to offer and it was very helpful to me personally. What drew me in to the game initially were indeed the graphics and the flashy, action-packed combat. I am usually not really into MMORPG's, but since the game was on sale on the Xbox Store a while ago for a ridiculously low price, I decided to get it. After creating my character (I went for the Woosa class as my first character) and getting my bearings in the game world, I decided to fight some goblins. That was incredible and fun so I kept doing it. I am currently level 12 and have already learned some new skills. It feels good to quickly make progress like that. After that, I decided to just wander around and explore the world for a bit. And while I basically haven't seen much beside wooded areas and a seaside village, I really like the vibe this game gives me. I am excited to see what awaits me in this world and to experience the many classes and skills this title provides! Any idea how long it would take a solo player to finish the main story quest? Once again a big thank you for the video!

There are multiple main story lines, it took me about a day to finish 80% of it but I also sat there for 16 hours straight. So I guess I would say its quite dependent on your play time! The first 4-5 questlines are really easy though, the newer ones which are like 61-62+ will probably take a bit longer.

You could get to mid game relatively quick playing during the season, end game is pretty far but they set you up to farm it with ease. Also this is the steam version.

As a veteran player theres alot right with this video but theres alot wrong too. This game is 100% p2w or p2progress. Also subscription system is like 45$ a month. That said they do give out tons of free stuff and i still really enjoy the game. To be completely genuine to anyone reading this id say spending 100$ to get some inventory weight, tent, and value pack subscription will deff make the game far more enjoyable and not feel so overwhelming. Maids, inventory slots, pets, and outfits you can get easily for free. You can say this game is not p2w all you want but it's simply not true.

They last for 3 months. Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter season. It doesn't matter when you join since catch up rates are extremely fast, took me around 8 days to max my character out.

Spring season ends may 10th, I started it maybe 2 weeks ago. Seasons are pretty easy grind to 59 quest to 61. Can get to 61 in like 14 hours that way.

MOVE OR DIE ---- if you never heared this you are a noob/ WE WERE THE BDO MAFFIA, we still hold the N1 Records in BDO (most castles etc), GRIND ------ that's what our name was, and still now nobody ever has come close to our achievements. Bow little peasants you are in the presence of the most absolute greatness. We played 20h a day, 6months before release, we destroyed EU/US release playing 100 v 300-400 and still won. Still until today we are N1. Back in those days, dying was losing x percentage of your xp, even the best players quickly realized that they couldn't mess with us or they would lose a few days worth of grinding xp just by one or two encounters vs us. And here yoiu are now, in casual land....

Yeah they still exist. No you don't need them. The rate at which you earn silver nowadays makes them an extremely frivolous and unnecessary purchase. For example, there's a pack on sale atm that gives 300 Artisans for 6,150 pearls (roughly $60). 300 Artisans is functionally 1,200 meme frags. Assuming you buy them all at max price the silver value comes out to 3.6b which is... nothing lol. You pull that in 2-3 hours of grinding, sniper hunting, whatever. It's certainly convenient but to say they're mandatory is a gross exaggeration unless you have infinite money and zero time. Or would have to grind $20+ an hour irl for the same result. All assuming you don't just save up and buy the gear off the marketplace which is the norm these days

Saying that classes are gender locked runs on the assumption that it's a blank slate character creator designed for player avatars like, say, Elder Scrolls. But it's not "make a character, then choose a class." It's, "Pick your character, then customize them." because every character has their own personal story and even a NAME within that story (but it doesn't matter except for some story stuff because your memory was taken from you. The characters in BDO aren't true blank slates/player avatars. We're playing a character story more like... Final Fantasy games. Yes, you can rename Cloud, but he's still Cloud.

So many things wrong with this video lol. Seems like you haven't played in about a year and just made a video. "Random" spawn bosses are field bosses, no one kills those anymore. The video you show is Garmoth, which has set spawns 3-4 times a week. There are totally loading times now. You need to complete you Magnus quest chain and you can fast travel which has load times. Next, there are 3 weekly dungeons that are similar to dungeons/raids from other MMOs. Scaling difficulty with solo or 5 man groups. Anyone who hasn't played BDO is going to have no idea what softcap means, and I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume you don't know what that is currently either.

It's almost as if you didn't listen to anything I said, this video is for people who haven't played the game before, not people like you who have 20k+ hours. It's a basic understanding for basic needs to start out, not an in-depth guide about the game. The Magnus is indeed fast travel but it's probably one of the most clunky things in the game locked behind a 110 quest story. Weekly dungeons aren't even close to raids and they aren't even remotely interesting to people who actually raid in other mmos. Anyone who has played an mmo before would definitely know what softcap is but you're arguing semantics when it comes to "random world bosses" you think anyone knows what a field boss or world boss is if they haven't played the game before? However what is true about your comment is I definitely haven't played in the last year.

Try everything on low, change resolution. In performance settings go to optimization and look for the option "Upscale" try the option AMD FidelityFX and see if that fixes things. There is also a setting called crop mode in Display settings that significantly solves FPS.

Forget the nice graphics, the gameplay and whatever else that is good about this game. The entire game is convoluted A.F. The questing in this game is convoluted A.F. When joining the newbie server where you get more EXP, you're rushed through the quests so fast that you end up getting lost & you have no idea what on Earth you're doing. The sheer amount of unesseacy rubbish that is on the screen, the gifts that they give you to stuff your limited inventory is insanity. Are these people on Drugs or smth? The User Interface is also convoluted A.F. Who on Earth thought that having flashing alerts on your screen showing you all of the things that OTHER players are crafting and doing, was a good idea?

KMMO's = P2W gender locked grind garbage. BDO isn't bad; visuals are good, story is ok; but the gender lock is irritating. PvE is easy, though the action combat is good. I was given 30 days free, and played it for the month. I was gone after that; so unless there's been improvements in game play, I doubt I'll return. I felt the same way with Lost Ark.

@@SleepyRaijin dude most players who play a game want to get to the end of the game or beat it in a sense meaning you want to get the best gear max out so to say take wow you aim to get the best item lvl so you can do every raid or in arena with pvp gear take guild wars 2 you aim to get atleast full ascended gear whats kinda the same as legendaries so as in ff14 or in any mmorpg you want the best gear same as in bdo but you dont need to spend 2331 hours of killing the same mobs in other games but in bdo that got a toxic DFS mentality you need to get the best gear or you need to hop "servers" every 15 min if your unlucky or enjoy getting one shotted or bullied out of the spot if you karma bomb then they put war on your guild and freely kill you means you can leave your guild and maybe be solo by then because you used guild chat as a social yes you can play casually but you still aim to get the best gear but with casual play it would even take you way longer to get everything if your not rng carried you dont need to spend money on the game really but enjoy a long ass grind i would say the tent worth the money other things not really but if you dont want to grind for 2331 hours of the same mobs crons and artisans memory way to go so here comes the p2w in yes you can save up money and buy crons in game but a tet bs weapon is 3670crons each click cron is 2m = 7,34b every click without memes and artisans memory or 136 usd every click but no grind and faster if lucky thats without artisans memory i played bdo for 4337hours but for new players who comes to bdo and they watch this video is misleading that it aint grindy season gear and and the gear they give out for free the "free" pen gear what aint worth it anymore you spend the same making it as buying it on mp only thing really worth it is "magnus free pen" whats a tp as well but still it aint shit to most players who played this for a long time you get all that shit you be looking at what like 320dp and like 250ap they would still be a one shot and they would need to put in a lot of hours i mean a lot of hours to get there they need to do the bs logs for they extra ap/dp they get free pets but t1's you need t4's and one t5 or wait till they give em out for free or spend longer time at each spot picking shit up wasting buffs and loot scrolls because there grind is slower because they need to pick shit up you need a fairy for auto pot how you get the skill change in cash shop or getting a new fairy spending ingame money to lvl it up and try again takes money away from your gear prog you want a fast good horse to get you from a to b you need t8 horse courser could get the job done but you really want to make it into a dream horse how you get the change skills for horses arrh in the cash shop or buy one from horse mp takes away the money from gear prog lets talk about getting a the inf pots your looking for a long grind if unlucky or do the weekly quest this game is one big o grind and i could keep on going over more and more systems they got its a good game to waste time in till one new mmorpg comes out worth playing

I get what you're saying but from a new player perspective none of those things exist, people can enjoy the game without having to think about any of that because the game scales pretty well *until* you hit that top 1% bracket. New players aren't thinking about getting Blackstar day 1. That's like saying Ultimate weapons in FFXIV are locked behind Ultimates, and doing Ultimate raids are too grindy so therefore new players shouldn't play.
