Hi Guys,
In this weeks vlog, I am preparing to leave my boat again. I am showing the realities of boat like vs. living in a house to show that everything takes a lot longer and more planning is required as you can't just up and leave! I hope you enjoy the vlog!
Kayleigh
I'm Kayleigh and along with my two dogs Hugo and Coco we will full time on board our 37ft narrowboat Grayswood. After living nearly two years in our self-converted campervan we decided we needed more space. So we decided to purchase a boat after spending some time on our friend’s narrowboat. Grayswood was conveniently located less that 5 minutes from my work and was found kind of by accident. I was visiting a friend who was staying in Aston Marina and whilst we were out walking the dogs, I seen the advert for Grayswood. I said to my friend “that looks a nice boat” and as I said it the marina manager appeared and asked if we would like a look inside. Naturally we did. After looking inside the boat, we made an offer after going back for a second viewing, after some negotiations within a week she was ours pending a survey. She was hauled out the following week and the survey went well. We kept her out on the hard standing for a further six weeks whilst we renovated the insides including fitting a new kitchen and bathroom.
Subscribe and welcome aboard - follow us on our narrowboat journey, where I will show what its really like living and navigating the English waterways as a solo female.
New video released every Monday.

I love it when you talk about how hot 26c is. About this time here in western Canada we had a week of 45 deg. c. Can't wait to experience your heat. Thank you for a great blog.

Having your boat home in a marina must be like living in a gated community if you were in a house - and something less to worry about while you are visiting Scotland? A lot of jobs tackled; but there is nothing nicer than coming back to a nice clean boat! Enjoy your break away from the rivers and canals.

Have a nice vacation in Scotland. That was ideal getting to wash the linens in the marina laundromat. Can you only use those facilities if your moored there? I guess the rest of the time while cruising you find a laundromat in a town when you go to buy groceries. Your boat look all clean and tidy ready for you when you get back. Have a Blessed day.

Hi Kayleigh, you said your boat was 57 feet long, does that allow you to go everywhere on the navigation, other than anywhere that is blocked or out of use, or would it be better to go for a narrowboat a little shorter to be able to pass through all the working locks ? Have a great holiday with your little tribe and if you do have the time, which will probably be difficult to find maybe you could share a few photo's of Scotland, if not you could always spoil us with them when you return. Take care and look after yourself.

There is a little amount of canals up north, calder and hebble that is less than 57 foot, and a few small ends of canals where you have yo turn around a bit earlier. Its a trade-off...more space to live in for almost all the canal network, or a lot smaller for all of the network. Most people pick liveing space for sanity over the whole network. Crt have a waterways map that shows maximum boat length on each canal.
