We know the real problem . Economic issues in some African countries that will then cause them to massively emigrate to economically stable countries and in the end never go back home and hence burden such countries . Eg Nigerians will flood South Africa and other countries across Africa because of economic situation in Nigeria . Even in terms of visa wise , west African countries struggle to get visas not only for African countries but even across the world . They even require transit visas for Europe just to transit through the airport . On the other side , southern Africans don’t require transit visas for Europe and easily get visa for several countries . They also have more countries with visa free arrangements with them .

If Nigeria, for instance had not turned out the way it currently is, borderless travel in Africa would have happened faster. Nigeria has more poor people than any other country in Africa. Nigerians majorly travel for economy reason not for leisure or pleasure. And with our huge numbers, need not mention the damage that can cause to other countries. If Nigeria was a somewhat better with needed infrastructure, vibrant economy that what it is, travel for leisure, sightseeing, etc would be common. Despite the fact that not many people want to visit Nigeria for reasons like insecurity, Nigerian visa is said to be one of the hardest to get. Why not make it visa free for all Africans? Other African countries will take a cue almost certainly.

So before we even contemplate visa-free travel across the African continent, can we put in place the system to combat transnational crimes like human trafficking and cyber fraud. From a South African perspective, we have enough problems with criminals in our country and do not want to deal with more criminals who exploit our country's Bill of Rights to provide them with cover.

You sound very ignorant. The Berlin Conference in 1848 was where colonizers spent 4 months in the cold winter and carefully created the borders on paper to divide Africa and conquer it more easily. Before that conference the lands in Africa were marked only by tribes and their territories. This was before colonizers arrived on the continent Colonizers split the tribes such as Hausa, fulani, bantu etc by creating borders to break the movement and communication of Africans. Colonizers knew the tribes were speaking their own language to plan attacks. So by breaking them apart with borders they confused and controlled the Africans snd the resources even till today. So, example, people of Fulani tribe in Niger were cut off from seeing other Fulanis in Burkina Faso due to the borders. Bantu tribe in Kenya were cut off from other bantu people in neighboring countries by borders. Amazig tribes in Morrocco were cut off from the fellow Amazigs in surrounding countries by borders. Ewe tribe is broken by borders from Ghana, Togo, Benin and Cameroun. They used to be one territory with one language. But Instead colonizers gave their colonies languages like English, French, etc., after creating the borders. Do you understand now? Borders=bandage. Borders= captivity!!!

Borderless travel in Africa is an inspiring vision that has the potential to promote greater unity, economic integration, and cultural exchange across the continent. Initiatives like the African Union’s ''Single African Air Transport Market'' and the ''African Continental Free Trade Area'' (AfCFTA) are steps in the right direction, aiming to ease movement and trade between African nations. However, realizing true borderless travel faces challenges, including political will, security concerns, and varying visa policies across different countries. Visa-free travel can be safe and democratic if designed with the proper safeguards. It could foster greater mobility for citizens, reduce the barriers faced by students, entrepreneurs, and tourists, and contribute to regional economic growth. However, for such a system to work, comprehensive efforts are needed to address issues like identity verification, security, and the protection of human rights. A balance must be struck to ensure that while borders become more open, safety, accountability, and respect for individual freedoms remain a priority. In conclusion, while the goal of borderless travel in Africa is achievable, it requires ongoing cooperation, effective governance, and a commitment to creating a system that is both secure and equitable for all citizens.

We don't need it to be borderless, at least not at first. We can start with being visa-less for all Africans across all African countries. Trade happens best when people can travel unhindered. This is one of the factors that makes the 50 states known as the USA so powerful and successful. Once people can move, then capital needs to be unhindered. Start with double-taxation agreements across all African countries, as Mauritius has endeavored to do. Suddenly, I don't have to pay taxes on income twice and can therefore deploy more capital to employ more people and grow my enterprise. I don't have to face capital and forex restrictions such as we have in South Africa, Ethiopia and a bunch of other countries. Next, make it easy for me to employ any African anywhere in Africa without the prohibitive work visas and permits that only give rise to endless corruption. Finally, take away unnecessary tariffs and trade barriers across Africa. Allow for goods manufactured in different countries to access any markets they need to access across the continent. Once capital, labor, and goods can move unhindered across the continent, then we have the foundation for an amazing continental economy in the near future.

@@NgasaMaduhu Wow..ignorance right there. You should look into these countries to see what "tribalism" means or how it plays out. Very different from what you think. You imagine people hate each other here like some of you that attack each other in South Africa because they have this or that identity. What is called 'tribalism' in Kenya (and it's almost non-existent in Uganda now), only plays out in politics -during elections. But not in the general society. In normal life, no one cares what tribe you are from. No one even cares what country you are from. Kenya and Uganda have completely borderless travel.

@patriot_20222 ай бұрын
@@NgasaMaduhu We must. Because even if you are free in our country, you are required to show utmost respect. Not imagery of how different/unique/conquering you are. Are Somalians the only EAC nationality in Kenya? Who else ever disrespected us like that? We have Congolese in Kenya, Burundians, Tanzanians, Ugandans, and South Sudanese...in huge numbers. Yet none of them ever did those reckless flag matches. Unacceptable. Our country is not the place they come to express their nationalism on. And it is not like it was a protest against something in their country, or a celebration of an event over there. Just a random act seemingly aimed at us. Even us we never do that in foreign lands. It is not hate here. But there is acceptable and unacceptable behaviour. Nationals of Somalia must behave properly like all the other EAC nationals when in Kenya. And a correction: Kenyans haven't and won't flood Tanzanian farms. Unless if it is to buy things to bring into Kenya. Doesn't Tanzania have laws on farm ownership?? Why are you misunderstanding things? This is not to say you must treat everyone like a citizen. There still has to be laws that apply only to citizens. Like in Kenya you can't own land unless you are Kenyan. But everyone can do business. Tanzania gives farms to its citizens. Si from there Kenyans can partner with them and move things faster and easier? That is what being borderless is about.

Kenyan's visa on arrival thing is a complete technical and ease of traveling into Kenyan disaster. Try applying for the online electronic permit and you're always faced with website technigal glitch. Goodluck with first trying to obtain an online electronic travel authorization on the government agency responsible for the travel authorization permit. Basic common sense should have dictated to Western Puppet or Ruto that if he really wanted to encourage easy tourism and easy access for Africans into Kenya, he should have made it possible for tourists, particular people of African descent to just fly into the country with their passport without having to go through the barely functional online electronic travel authorization nonsense, just as Rwanda does it.
@patriot_20222 ай бұрын
Our guy is quick to do something dramatic without thinking it through. That is what he originally intended but Kenyans rejected. We feared a mass influx of all types of people that could destabilise our society, bring a lot more crime if people just get in and out as they wish and can't be followed in case, and add pressure to public services that are not doing very well even. Everyone opposed the idea even in his government. So they had to say, okay we won't just let everyone in we have to deter criminals and mass migration (imagined). Later after announcing the policy is when they said we will have an ETA -to calm down Kenyans. But now they should just do it right. I hear travellers say it was easier when there was the regular visa they get on arrival than now.
