@@BenLlywelyn In the distant future, when ideas for new episodes dry up, please consider the Masurian dialect (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Masurian_dialects). A language of Polish migrants to East Prussia, diverging from standard Polish and solidified by their adoption of Lutheranism (wasn't it similar in Wales?), with huge amounts of German influence. Then the Masurians were wiped-out, because they were too Polish for the Germans and too German for the Poles.

Labour getting 400+ seats will be really interesting to watch from India.
@jaychaudhry64615 ай бұрын
Context: During 2024 elections, BJP had a slogan "Abki baar 400 paar" meaning this time beyond 400 seats. This was reference to BJP aiming to get more than 400 seats in elections. India has 545 seats in lower house of parliament & 272 seats are needed to form majority government. A single party getting more than 400 seats is considered as a landmark accomplishment, something that only happened in 1984 elections when INC got 404 seats under Rajiv Gandhi. BJP wanted to accomplish this feat. In reality, the total opposite happened, BJP got 240 seats unable to even form a majority on its own(something it had for last 10 years), forcing it to enter into Coalition.

A significant change in the UK is unlikely in the near future. Here's why: The two-party dominance and first-past-the-post voting system resist meaningful reform. Powerful lobbies and wealthy individuals benefit from the status quo and resist change. British society continues to cling to tradition, making radical changes difficult. Dealing with the consequences of Brexit will continue to dominate political attention and resources. Polarized media outlets reinforce existing divisions rather than promoting unity for change. Many talented individuals leave the UK, reducing the pool of potential change-makers. The national debt and ongoing economic challenges limit the government's ability to invest in major reforms. Both Conservative and Labour administrations have made short-sighted decisions prioritizing short-term political gains over long-term national interests. Without a major crisis or significant shift in public consciousness, the UK is likely to continue muddling through its current problems rather than implementing transformative change. The issues are deeply rooted and systemic, making quick or easy solutions improbable.

I’m torn between Plaid and Reform. I just want a party that actually cares about Wales and will look after the interests of the Welsh people. I agree with your assessment that Plaid are basically Labour. Just with a Welsh name and Reform…I dunno, they’ll just concentrate on the English seats they (might) win and will ignore Wales. That’s my opinion anyway. We need a new party in Wales that does what Plaid is supposed to be doing. Then I’d vote for them. As things stand, I don’t know what to do. I don’t really want to be “that guy”, but I really feel that they’re all basically the same. Whoever I vote for, it won’t matter.

My biggest hope is that Reform overtake the tories in terms of popular vote. Very peculiar to our voting system that Labour are going to win such a massive landslide despite having an unpopular leader and most people I speak to, be they to the right or the left, aren't excited about their platform at all. Anywhere else there'd be parties to the right and left of them or with nuances on certain policies that would pick up some votes here and there

For this Australian you paint a gloomy picture. Immigration is an issue in most of the developed nations even if people don't recognize that it's an issue. I was born in Malta and have lived in Australia since I was 3, and in the old days of my childhood, it was accepted that immigrants would assimilate to the Australian culture. There were a lot of bad things in Australia in my childhood but at least the culture was Australian, now Australia is wealthier, has a larger population, and no one is starving or lacking housing but Australia is no longer Australian despite the likes of Paul Hogan, Chris Hemsworth and Hugh Jackman.
